Commanding wonderful sea views, tucked away on the edge of the village you will find the tranquility of Peacehaven. The well equipped and comfortable two bedroom bungalow is set in mature well maintained gardens enveloped by magnificent views sweeping across the valley, capturing the Avon Estuary, Bantham Beach, Burgh Island and out to sea. An ideal retreat to explore the finest beaches and coastal footpaths of the South Hams, many within walking distance. The nearby picturesque towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth offer an array of shops and low key attractions. Thurlestone is a popular village with pretty thatched cottages, an old church and post office. The

Village Inn partially constructed from a stricken armada vessel draws an eclectic mix of local characters and visitors eager to sample the local ales. The village boasts one of the best hotels in Devon offering a restaurant, health spa and a 9 hole golf course open to non residents and a superb 18 hole links course.

The property is accessed from the private car-park via a short path. Entry may be made from both aspects.

About Mrs J Sullivan

I live in the Midlands with my partner. I try to regularly visit Thurlestone,my favourite place in the South Hams, as often as commitments allow. The property has been in the family for over 35 years, during this time it has been the hub for fabulous family beach holidays. I have tried to make the bungalow comfortable, as it is so important to me that you enjoy your holiday. I have repeat visitors year after year with some visitors even settling on their retirement in the neighbourhood. I would say if you love nature and walking and peace and quiet you will love the South Hams.

Why Mrs J Sullivan chose South Hams

This property has it all really as it is tucked away in a corner of the village, but just a short stroll to the center of Thurlestone. Amazing views across the valley and out to sea. Shops in Kings bridge have everything you need plus a lovely park. Wonderful walks on the South West Coastal path from the property. Superb choice of beaches. The house is fully equipped, comfortable beds, with a log burner for those cooler nights.

What makes this bungalow unique

Thurlestone is an ideal place to stay if you like Walking, Bird Watching, Beaches, Nature, Golf, Tennis etc. A central position to explore the South Hams, with Salcombe, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth amongst the many places for a great day out. The Bungalow provides a Welcome Book giving you all the information you will need to maximise your stay including a list of local eateries. In the Summer you may see fantastic sunsets, a perfect end after a day at the beach, sitting in the garden enjoying a G&T while the BBQ sizzles away and the sun goes down. I would not recommend the area to anyone who likes Night Life! There are 2 local Pubs one in The Village with good food and occasional quiz nights and music nights but we provide loads of Games and Videos, DVD's for your use.

Notes on accommodation: The property has been in the family for many years and we try to maintain a homely feel with small personal touches. We provide a selection of board games, dvd films and BT You View. The garage houses the beach wind breaks and some beach chairs all of which you are welcome to use along with bats balls etc. The property offers an extremely comfortable stay. Beds and pillows are maintained with mattress / pillow protectors which are regularly laundered. Price includes electricity and bed linen. Towels are not provided. Dogs allowed at our discretion. Fee per Dog of £35.00 Maximum of 2 dogs.A Security Deposit of £100.00 is payable with final payment 6 weeks prior to date of holiday. Terms and conditions apply which must be read and acknowledged with deposit on booking. Due to facilities at the property no children under the age of 5 are accepted. Outside: The property has a front and rear garden. The front gated garden is accessed from the road and is set beyond a fenced communal village green. Two lawn sections divided by a path leading to the front door is fenced from the front but open to the neighbouring properties. Several mature bushes give a certain amount of privacy from the houses opposite. The front garden has a bench and coffee table to enjoy the morning sun. A washing line is provided on the front lawn. The rubbish disposal bins are sited at the front of the garden nearest the communal path. The rear garden has mature plants partially screening the one side and a fence screens the opposite side. The approach into the garden is open. A circular patio area with outdoor table and chairs, brick BBQ and a sun umbrella is available for use along with sun chairs and a wooden bench. The view from the patio area is super for watching the sunset. Automatic garden lights are sited to illuminate the pathway when approaching at night. Utility Room: Vacuum Cleaner. Peacehaven, Thurlestone, Devon

Peacehaven lives up to its name, a beautiful bungalow set in one of the most picturesque and tranquil villages in Devon. We were so impressed with all the bungalow's gorgeous accessorised furnishings. An absolutely immaculate property with every thinkable item catered for to make your stay perfect. Stunning views which were equally as beautiful in all weather, we were so fortunate to see it in all its glory from "wall to wall" sunshine to being shrouded in sea mist and on the last night an hour display of lightening over the hills, amazing to watch, not to forget its crowning glory every night when the sun went down. The Village Inn pub is so welcoming with excellent quality and good value food. There are many walks to suit all ability, fantastic beaches that were dog friendly too, managed to get our 9 year old beagle to take her first paddle ever. So impressed with our holiday the first email I sent when I got back home was to enquire about a booking for next year. Thank you so much Mrs Sullivan for sharing this with us.

Perfect Holiday Home In Idyllic Location

We thoroughly enjoyed a two week holiday at Peacehaven with our two dogs. The Bungalow is spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable, very tastefully furnished and decorated. Judy has obviously put a lot of love and care into creating such a lovely holiday home.

The view from the bungalow and garden is spectacular and thanks to all the local information provided by Judy we were able to enjoy many great coastal walks and trips to the various beaches around Thurlestone and Bantham. We certainly hope to return again.

Fabulous week at Peacehaven

Spectacular views from the house and the garden, across the estuary and over to Burgh Island. The House was beautifully presented, had everything we needed and more and was very clean and very comfortable. We were able to store our bikes safely in the garage and the area is so safe that the boards sat on the car roof rack all week.We paddleboarded, canoed, cycled and walked - for miles. Perfect location in lovely Thurlstone. Great food in the Village Inn and an invigorating walk over the field to Bantham where there was plenty of parking with access to the quay for launching and the beach. The sloop in Bantham is worth a visit too. Great coffee shop over looking the estuary , in the Post office!

The owner was more than helpful and on the end of an e mail for any queries we might have had.

What a great find - i would recommend this house to anyone!

Cosy seaside retreat

The property is in a great location within walking distance of Bantham, Thurlestone and South Milton beaches. The views from the garden towards Burgh Island are fantastic. We travelled with our two children and our dog, the house is quite small but never felt crowded. We loved how the owners had decorated, a real modern seaside feel. We stayed at the end of October so the wood burner was lovely in the evenings. The house is very well equipped the owners have been very thoughtful about providing a home from home. Would definitely recommend Peacehaven.

Superbly positioned bungalow with amazing coastal views

Our short break at Peacehaven did not disappoint. The property is extremely well equipped and was spotlessly clean. The views from the patio windows and the back garden are spectacular over Bantham and Burgh Island.

The South Hams area provides a wide variety of quality walking routes and there is little need to drive too far once you have arrived in Thurlestone. The property has an excellently equipped kitchen, so eating in is not a problem, though it is necessary to travel to Kingsbridge for a proper food shop. The local pub provides a good choice of food and is within easy walking distance. A ten minute drive gets you to Kingsbridge which has a wide variety of restaurants to choose from.

All in all we were very pleased with our four night stay and the weather was dry and mostly sunny. We will come back again sometime in the future and complete some more of the coastal path walks.

The choice of good beaches are excellent. Some very close to home and easily walked to. Some a few minutes in the car. Bantham beach is overlooked at a distance from the bungalow. This is easily driven to approx 3 minutes in the car up and down steep hills. Parking fees are applicable for the day. It is a beautiful white sand beach with life guards in the summer months. The tide ebbs to leave huge rock pools. Minimal catering facilities. Wc available in the car park.


Nearest airport is Bristol. Approx 80 miles. Nearest Port is Plymouth approx 16 miles. Nearest main train line,Totnes approx 12 miles. A car is essential.

The surrounding areas have various attractions. Kingsbridge offers many restaurants including a Spanish tapas bar. Steak house, and an Indian restaurant. The leisure centre provides a varied programme of activities. Various banks, a launderette, cinema and supermarkets. Neighbouring village of South Milton has a fish restaurant on the beach. Slightly further away Salcombe boasts a huge choice of eateries, various ferries, sailing facilities, Overbecks gardens. Closer to home The Sloop at Bantham is great for good pub grub and in Bantham village a ferry service crossing the estuary to Cockle Ridge. Burgh Island reached by walking the causeway when the tide is out or using the sea tractor. The Pilchard Inn an old smugglers inn offers coffee and light bites but the art deco hotel is strictly residents only, however a walk to the top of the island rewards with fabulous views out to sea. Occasionally seals are present and it has been known for dolphins to be seen in the bay. Bantham is very popular with surfers and wind surfers. Privately owned, dogs are not allowed on the main section of beach May to September, However they are allowed to right side of the beach accessed by the dunes.
