About Mrs J Sullivan

I live in the Midlands with my partner. I try to regularly visit Thurlestone,my favourite place in the South Hams, as often as commitments allow. The property has been in the family for over 35 years, during this time it has been the hub for fabulous family beach holidays. I have tried to make the bungalow comfortable, as it is so important to me that you enjoy your holiday. I have repeat visitors year after year with some visitors even settling on their retirement in the neighbourhood. I would say if you love nature and walking and peace and quiet you will love the South Hams.

Mrs J Sullivan purchased this bungalow in 1972

Why Mrs J Sullivan chose Kingsbridge

This property has it all really as it is tucked away in a corner of the village, but just a short stroll to the center of Thurlestone. Amazing views across the valley and out to sea. Shops in Kingsbridge have everything you need plus a lovely park. Wonderful walks on the South West Coastal path which can be accessed from the property. Superb choice of wonderful sandy beaches, many within a 25 minute walk or 5 minute drive. The house is fully equipped, comfortable beds, with a log burner for those cooler nights. The garden at the rear of the property is secure, with wood fencing on both sides and wire fencing at the end So this does not impair the wonderful view we have across the valley and out to sea, with Burgh Island being a central point. We have a private parking space outside our own garage.

What makes this bungalow unique

Thurlestone is an ideal place to stay if you like Walking, Bird Watching, Beaches, Nature, Golf, Tennis etc. A central position to explore the South Hams, with Salcombe, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth amongst the many places for a great day out. The Bungalow provides a Welcome Book giving you all the information you will need to maximise your stay including a list of local eateries. In the Summer you may see fantastic sunsets, a perfect end after a day at the beach, sitting in the garden enjoying a G&T while the BBQ sizzles away and the sun goes down. I would not recommend the area to anyone who wants busy night life. Entertainment here is more a great chat whilst enjoying a good meal ! There are 2 local Pubs one in The Village with good food and occasional quiz nights and music nights but we provide loads of Games and Videos, DVD's for your use.

A perfect stay .

  • 5 of 5

The care and attention to detail in this property is everywhere. Decorated to a high standard with interesting ornaments . Spotlessly clean( and I am very fussy) Beautifully comfy bed and bed linen on the king size bed. The welcome cream tea that was left was a thoughtful bonus.

The outside is fabulous for the view, eating and drinking. The only let down was the grass needed cutting when we arrived and I pulled a few weeds ! but this didn't spoil it.

We know this area well . It's wonderful for walking, beaches, pubs and relaxing. Mrs Sullivan obviously cares a lot about this property. Thank you.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review Peacehaven. We are always grateful for these comments as it keeps us informed as to where we can improve. So pleased you found the property comfortable. The garden is maintained by a professional gardening company who cut the grass every fortnight during the summer. I will check with them why the grass was so long on your arrival. The reason may be due to the weather we have had which has perhaps delayed their visit. I do appreciate you pulling some weeds for me, even though I am at the property every 6 weeks maintaining the house and pulling weeds, they soon spring up in the gravel on the path and in the wonderful red soil. Thank you for booking with us, I do hope we can welcome you back in the future.

Impressive views and cosy

  • 4 of 5

Amazing location. Lovely local pub. Well equipped (though important to note no towels or tea towels or cloths which is highlighted but would be nice to have them). Warm and cosy and comfortable. Really enjoyed the location and the view.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our property. So pleased to hear you felt warm, cosy and comfortable throughout your weekend. Regarding the towels, we have found over the years that people prefer a slightly lower rental price and to bring their own towels and tea towels, so this is how we advertise. We always provide an abundance of disposable cloths provided in the kitchen cupboard along with cleaning sponges and scourers. Should your personal preference be to have bath towels and kitchen towels supplied this can easily be organised incurring a small extra charge. I do hope we have the pleasure of you returning to Peacehaven, please let me know if the towel rental is a better option for you and we will get it arranged. Thanks again. Best wishes for the Festive Season.

Peacehaven, Thurlestone, Devon

  • 5 of 5

Peacehaven lives up to its name, a beautiful bungalow set in one of the most picturesque and tranquil villages in Devon. We were so impressed with all the bungalow's gorgeous accessorised furnishings. An absolutely immaculate property with every thinkable item catered for to make your stay perfect. Stunning views which were equally as beautiful in all weather, we were so fortunate to see it in all its glory from "wall to wall" sunshine to being shrouded in sea mist and on the last night an hour display of lightening over the hills, amazing to watch, not to forget its crowning glory every night when the sun went down. The Village Inn pub is so welcoming with excellent quality and good value food. There are many walks to suit all ability, fantastic beaches that were dog friendly too, managed to get our 9 year old beagle to take her first paddle ever. So impressed with our holiday the first email I sent when I got back home was to enquire about a booking for next year. Thank you so much Mrs Sullivan for sharing this with us.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for this review, greatly appreciated. We have had the property in the family since the early 70's when my parents had the forsight to buy it after visiting friends in the village. The view has hardly changed over the years and we hope it never does. The property itself has, as we keep trying to improve where we can, maintaining a standard, and providing what we feel visitors require whilst on holiday. Delighted you have booked for next year. Thanks again

Perfect Holiday Home In Idyllic Location

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed a two week holiday at Peacehaven with our two dogs. The Bungalow is spotlessly clean, well equipped, comfortable, very tastefully furnished and decorated. Judy has obviously put a lot of love and care into creating such a lovely holiday home.

The view from the bungalow and garden is spectacular and thanks to all the local information provided by Judy we were able to enjoy many great coastal walks and trips to the various beaches around Thurlestone and Bantham. We certainly hope to return again.

Fabulous week at Peacehaven

  • 5 of 5

Spectacular views from the house and the garden, across the estuary and over to Burgh Island. The House was beautifully presented, had everything we needed and more and was very clean and very comfortable. We were able to store our bikes safely in the garage and the area is so safe that the boards sat on the car roof rack all week.We paddleboarded, canoed, cycled and walked - for miles. Perfect location in lovely Thurlstone. Great food in the Village Inn and an invigorating walk over the field to Bantham where there was plenty of parking with access to the quay for launching and the beach. The sloop in Bantham is worth a visit too. Great coffee shop over looking the estuary , in the Post office!

The owner was more than helpful and on the end of an e mail for any queries we might have had.

What a great find - i would recommend this house to anyone!
