Commanding wonderful sea views, tucked away on the edge of the village you will find the tranquility of Peacehaven. The well equipped and comfortable two bedroom bungalow is set in mature well maintained gardens enveloped by magnificent views sweeping across the valley, capturing the Avon Estuary, Bantham Beach, Burgh Island and out to sea. An ideal retreat to explore the finest beaches and coastal footpaths of the South Hams, many within walking distance. The nearby picturesque towns of Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Dartmouth offer an array of shops and low key attractions. Thurlestone is a popular village with pretty thatched cottages, an old church and post office. The

Village Inn partially constructed from a stricken armada vessel draws an eclectic mix of local characters and visitors eager to sample the local ales. About Mrs J Sullivan

I live in the Midlands with my partner. I try to regularly visit Thurlestone,my favourite place in the South Hams, as often as commitments allow. The property has been in the family for over 35 years, during this time it has been the hub for fabulous family beach holidays. I have tried to make the bungalow comfortable, as it is so important to me that you enjoy your holiday. I have repeat visitors year after year with some visitors even settling on their retirement in the neighbourhood. I would say if you love nature and walking and peace and quiet you will love the South Hams.

Mrs J Sullivan purchased this cottage in 1972

Why Mrs J Sullivan chose South Hams

This property has it all really as it is tucked away in a corner of the village, but just a short stroll to the center of Thurlestone. Amazing views across the valley and out to sea. Shops in Kings bridge have everything you need plus a lovely park. Wonderful walks on the South West Coastal path from the property. Superb choice of beaches. The house is fully equipped, comfortable beds, with a log burner for those cooler nights.

What makes this cottage unique

Thurlestone is an ideal place to stay if you like Walking, Bird Watching, Beaches, Nature, Golf, Tennis etc. A central position to explore the South Hams, with Salcombe, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth amongst the many places for a great day out. The Bungalow provides a Welcome Book giving you all the information you will need to maximise your stay including a list of local eateries. In the Summer you may see fantastic sunsets, a perfect end after a day at the beach, sitting in the garden enjoying a G&T while the BBQ sizzles away and the sun goes down. I would not recommend the area to anyone who likes Night Life! There are 2 local Pubs one in The Village with good food and occasional quiz nights and music nights but we provide loads of Games and Videos, DVD's for your use.

Cosy seaside retreat

  • 5 of 5

The property is in a great location within walking distance of Bantham, Thurlestone and South Milton beaches. The views from the garden towards Burgh Island are fantastic. We travelled with our two children and our dog, the house is quite small but never felt crowded. We loved how the owners had decorated, a real modern seaside feel. We stayed at the end of October so the wood burner was lovely in the evenings. The house is very well equipped the owners have been very thoughtful about providing a home from home. Would definitely recommend Peacehaven.

Superbly positioned bungalow with amazing coastal views

  • 5 of 5

Our short break at Peacehaven did not disappoint. The property is extremely well equipped and was spotlessly clean. The views from the patio windows and the back garden are spectacular over Bantham and Burgh Island.

The South Hams area provides a wide variety of quality walking routes and there is little need to drive too far once you have arrived in Thurlestone. The property has an excellently equipped kitchen, so eating in is not a problem, though it is necessary to travel to Kingsbridge for a proper food shop. The local pub provides a good choice of food and is within easy walking distance. A ten minute drive gets you to Kingsbridge which has a wide variety of restaurants to choose from.

All in all we were very pleased with our four night stay and the weather was dry and mostly sunny. We will come back again sometime in the future and complete some more of the coastal path walks.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to review our property. The team work hard at keeping a standard so always grateful for encouragement. The nearest town is Kingsbridge for shopping however just outside Loddiswell there is a superb butchers and greengrocers, you can also have breakfast or lunch there too! Online shopping is also an idea with Waitrose, Tesco or Morrisons to choose from. Delighted to hear you would return, we look forward to welcoming you back.

PERFECT

  • 5 of 5

We booked this holiday because of the amazing reviews previous visitors had written regarding the service, amazing views and location and we were not disappointed, our holiday was everything we wished for and more, Judy runs things very professionally and there is nothing that hasn't been thought of, even down to the gardens being maintained and our bed linen replaced during our two week stay, you certainly get the feeling Judy really cares about you having a wonderful holiday and we would love to return.

EXCELLENT

  • 5 of 5

We have just spent a week at Peacehaven. The bungalow is spotless, extremely comfortable and everything is top quality - even down to the bed linen! The view from the lounge is to die for - who needs a television! We, including our dog Lola, loved the sunny garden. We walked, easily, to Yarmer beach which is quiet and beautiful. We ate outside the Beach House at South Milton Sands (best burger I've ever had!), overlooking Thurlestone Rock-perfect. Cafe Asia Thai takeaway in Kingsbridge (who deliver) is also excellent food. Overall we had a fantastic holiday in superb accommodation, couldn't fault a single thing.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay in our home. Really delighted you found everything of a good quality, I treated myself to the bed linen which is worth it's cost as every launder it still comes out like new and I must admit I struggle to sleep now without 600 + thread count cotton bedding, so cooling on a hot day. Yarmer beach is one of my favourite, a lovely walk over the golf course or along the road at the side of the church and down onto the beach, enjoying a nose at all the millionaire's houses on route! Yarmer beach is, as you say always quiet and used mainly by locals or residents knowing how to get down to it. The Beach House at South Milton Sands is great for lunch or coffee after a walk. Although just a beach shack, the ambience when having meals in the evening is really different, a little expensive but lovely fresh fish. Thanks again for your review and I do hope we can welcome you back in the future.

We have just spent a week at peacehaven celebrating our pearl wedding we took our dog diesel with us he loved the garden. The bungalow is relaxing & modern really comfy bed & very efficient shower everywhere is clean & appliances easy to use. Our booking went smoothly from start to finish excellent customer service. Our favourite day was a trip into Dartmouth used the park & ride then boat trip to Greenway national trust house the grounds are stunning, looking out from the battery we watched a seal out on the rocks. The village inn has amazing food & the staff are very friendly. Stokeley farm shop is worth stopping for lunch & shopping. We would highly recommend peacehaven & hope to go back next year.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to review our property. We are always very pleased to hear that our visitors are comfortable in our home, where our team work hard with us maintaining standards within the property so, your comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks too for the information about Greenway National Trust House in Dartmouth, i must try to get there on my next visit. We visited Overbecks in Salcombe last summer which also has splendid views across the bay of Salcombe and wonderful gardens. Stokeley Garden Centre found on the way to Dartmouth via Torcross is quite a place, a farm shop, selling everything really along with a cafe which houses a huge wood burning stove producing super pizza's amongst many other dishes. Thank you for choosing our home from the many........ great to hear you would like to return and we look forward to welcoming you back.
