Tom's Cottage is a luxurious holiday cottage in the upmarket village of Baslow
Ideal for 1 or 2 couples Toms Cottage sleeps 4 people luxuriously within its two bedrooms. Each of these bedrooms has a beautiful en-suite bathroom which has both a free-standing bath and separate shower.Being in Baslow Tom’s Cottage is within walking distance of the Chatsworth Estate. It is within the Peak District National Park which has an abundance of walking and other attractions, including the popular town of Bakewell. Outside to the rear there is a sheltered patio with table and chairs to relax after the days activities. And within Baslow itself there are numerous restaurants and pubs for meals and refreshment, the highlight of which is the Michelin starred Fischers Baslow Hall. There is a Spar Shop for basic supplies nearby.
We had a lovely relaxing week after Christmas in Tom's cottage. The cottage is well maintained with lots of lovely touches to make it a home from home. The Bathrooms really were luxury and our daughter loved being able to sit at the low bedroom windows looking out at the views. The living room was snug and had a lovely electric stove to add ambiance. We found everything we needed other than a high chair, that had been on the list but we managed with a travel chair we had and we would benefited from some bedding for the pull out beds as our two kids weren't able to share the double bed in the second room, but again nothing to dampen how lovely the space was and comfy after our winter walks. Baslow is a lovely village with plenty of pubs and cafes though every where’s busy so booking a table to eat out in the area is a must. Baslow also has plenty of walking nearby so we didn’t need to use the car to much as well as local shops to browse. It was a great choice for the week.
The cottage is very well thought out- which makes staying there so pleasant. Sofas and beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are fabulous, with constant hot water and large walk in showers. Also, there are lots of mirrors with sockets by them, so drying hair is easy....often a particular problem with holiday cottages. We were going to a wedding locally and found everything about getting ready easy.
Last, but certainly not least, it was spotlessly clean.
Tom's Cottage is a super place for two couples. It has a lovely mixture of character and modern features and is very comfortable. We found the cottage to be clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and we appreciated that both bedrooms had en suite facilities. The welcome card, bottle of wine, biscuits and flowers were a kind gesture. As there is one designated car parking space to the rear we parked the second car on the street just around the corner without any issues. This cottage could be unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems as the stairs are steep and narrow. Baslow is a pretty village and close to the Chatsworth estate for walking or visiting the house. We hope to return to Tom's Cottage and would not hesitate to recommend.
Just back from four nights at this beautiful cottage. The owner has gone above & beyond expectations & included lots of extras which some self catering properties don't have. The whole cottage was immaculately clean & we particularly liked the en suite bedrooms. The beds were extremely comfortable & although cold outside we were warm & cosy inside! The location is particularly handy for Chatsworth House and pubs & restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay again & would highly recommend.
We had a lovely stay at Tom's Cottage, the bedrooms & bathrooms are decorated to a very high standard & very spacious. Perfect for 2 couples. The downstairs is beautiful with comfortable sofas & fab kitchen area. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone & we would stay here again next time we come to Derbyshire. It is in a lovely village with pubs & restaurants within walking distance. Chatsworth estate is on the doorstep & we did a lovely circular walk which took you through the estate.
Tom's Cottage is absolutely delightful! It is well appointed, cosy with luxurious bathrooms and bedrooms. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack provided, a lovely addition. It provides the ideal base for exploring the Chatsworth Estate and surrounding Dales. Baslow itself is home to several very good restaurants but I would recommend booking in advance. Rowleys was fully booked so we managed to get a table at Charlie's where were had an absolutely excellent meal - both places within a few yards of Tom's Cottage!
The only reason I haven't been able to award 5 stars is because the cottage is situated on a surprisingly busy road with traffic flowing day and night.
