Nestled in the centre of Holmfirth, White Rose Cottage is a beautifully presented, cosy 2 bed holiday home. Originally a stable, this 150 yr old property was more recently an art gallery before being converted in 2012 into a quirky cottage with many original features. With the convenience of local amenities (within walking distance) such as shops, market, banks, post office, supermarkets, restaurants, White Rose Cottage is still only a stone's throw from fantastic scenery and ample walking routes through the Peak District including the Pennine Way - giving it the best of both worlds as far as the perfect holiday is concerned! Holmfirth boasts a large selection of bars, real ale pubs, high quality restaurants, several beauty salons, a swimming pool and a number of lovely parks. If you're looking for entertainment, Holmfirth hosts regular events such as Folk Week, Art Week, The Art and Music Festival, and many more. It also has as a venue (The Picturedrome) for music events.

About Shirley Muffitt

Being a 3rd generation 'Holmfirther', I love living in the Holme Valley with its fantastic scenery and friendly villages. When circumstances meant that I had to take early retirement I wanted an interest that would keep me busy and was close to home. A holiday cottage seemed the perfect solution! In January 2012 White Rose Cottage was opened to guests after a 6 month renovation, where-in we converted a very old Holmfirth building which we believe was originally a stable, and more recently an art gallery, into a comfortable, cosy retreat. I offer guests a friendly service and lots of local knowledge if required!

Holmfirth has the benefits of a lively, bustling town with a variety of things to see and do and places to eat and drink. It is also however at the foot of Holme Moss - a stunning Peak Park moor with amazing scenery.

White Rose Cottage, unlike many others in the area is located in actual Holmfirth itself and also has private, free parking.

-A walk or short drive to amazing scenery of the Yorkshire moors including the Peak Park and Pennine Way as well as many reservoirs.

-A location which offers a central point from where to set off to shopping locations including Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield and the Traffford and Meadowhall Shopping Centres.

Outside: The cottage has use of a quiet, private decked area (for sole use of cottage) with bistro set. Also, although not stricktly for the use of the cottage, the private, stone flagged courtyard in front of the cottage can house bicycles if you're a cyclist. Beautiful flower park just accross the road ideal for picknicking. Cleaning / Towels / Linen : All bedding, towels, tablecloths and teatowels are provided. If you are staying more than 1week we can provide change of bedding/towels. Welcome tray on arrival includes basics such as milk, tea, coffee etc. Travel cot, highchair, baby gate on request.

A hidden treasure.

We've visited Holmfirth many times and didn't know this cottage was here, it's right in the town centre but so quiet you could be in the countryside. The property is beautifully decorated with lots of lovely original features, the heating was on when we arrived so it was warm and very welcoming. It was very well equipped with everything we required and the owner was available should we have needed her, thank you we had a memorable stay.

Cosy, great retreat and close to all amenities

The cottage was warm and inviting, more spacious than first thought. Me and my boyfriend decided to have a romantic but rural location for walking etc, of which this was great. The night life is close by with loads of cheque wine bars, pubs and eateries, no need for a car! so you can eat drink and be merry without a worry. A very good base for exploring We will defiantly return.

White rose

Just returned from four nights at White Rose cottage with our 2 year old son and our dog. The cottage is very nice, spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipt and warm. The bedrooms are full of features and the beds comfy. The location is perfect being in the centre of Holmfirth yet set back from the road and quiet. We really enjoyed our relaxing stay and wil definitely stay again soon. It is a refreshing change to stay somewhere of this high standard where dogs are welcome and we would highly recommend the cottage to all.

Lovely cosy well located cottage

Just spent a few days of the Christmas holidays with our two teenage girls and 16 month old puppy in White Rose Cottage. The cottage was very warm and cosy, super clean and well located for walking our dog on the Yorkshire Moors. It's also right in the centre of the village within 5 minutes walk of all amenities ( and lots of pubs!) There were nice touches like throws on all the sofas to keep us extra warm, plus a special blanket for the dog so she could snuggle up with us ( she isn't allowed on the sofa at home so this was an extra treat!!) Shirley was very welcoming and we will definately visit again.

Brilliant

We have stayed at White Rose Cottage 3 times now and have rebooked to stay this New Year.

It is always clean (which is very important to us) and tidy and Shirley is always really accommodating of our dog. She provides blankets and bowls which is great.

Both bedrooms are of a nice size but the master suite at the top of the house is lovely and quirky!

It is perfectly located in the heart of Holmfirth with a supermarket across the road and bars and restaurants all within a minutes walk!

We will continue to book this beautiful cottage and will recommend to others.
