About the property

Luxurious barn conversion set in Idyllic Rural Location, Opposite The River Lyon With Stunning Scenery All Around, Sleeps 4

** Please note we offer short breaks from Monday to Friday (4 nights) or Friday to Monday (3 nights) only. **

Welcome to Croftgarrow Steading, our very special holiday home forming part of a pretty farm conversion, sitting in a quiet spot opposite the River Lyon, near the village of Fortingall in rural Perthshire. An ancient stone steading, painstakingly converted in 2008 with no expense spared, our aim is for our guests to feel special and rather spoilt from the moment they arrive. A thoughfully architect-designed property, one of Croftgarrow Steading's main features is a very large open plan living area containing the farmhouse kitchen, dining area and plenty of seating. A large wood-burning stove forms the centre piece to this space. Double glass doors to the east and south lead out to the private garden with hot tub via a lovely furnished verandah. The backdrop to the garden is open fields and hills with wonderful views wherever you look. Because of its thoughtful design, we find Croftgarrow works well for both romantic retreats and lovely family holidays.

About Susan Torkington

We are Sue and Chris and we live in Edinburgh with our two children, Max the cat, and Chris' elderly parents who live in a wee house in the garden! We are a very busy family running our own businesses - Chris is a career coach and co-founder of an Investment Management business and Sue is a photographer.

Susan Torkington purchased this barn in 2008

Why Susan Torkington chose Aberfeldy

We fell in love with Croftgarrow the minute we saw it in 2008. It was, and still is, the best built house we have ever been in. The quality of the fixtures and fittings is second to none, and the warmth and comfort of it is just so welcoming, that coupled with it's wonderful location, makes it the most relaxing place in the world for us and a real antidote to our busy lives.

What makes this barn unique

Croftgarrow Steading sits in a pretty courtyard development of 5 houses, each one built to the same high standards. It's position at the far side of the courtyard means that it has a large private back garden, with spectacular views all around. It has a lovely hot tub which is very relaxing after a long walk or cycle. Inside the property, there is a wonderful large open plan living area with views out to the south and west and a large central woodburner. It has Bose surround sound in all the rooms which is great. Not only is the house fab in every respect, but our neighbours are all lovely too!

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Croftgarrow Steading is a treasured and luxurious holiday home. The property benefits from all the amenities you would expect of a modern house but, through the use of high quality natural materials, retains the charm of a stone farm building. The property is spacious and beautifully designed but is extremely cosy and relaxing at the same time. The underfloor heating provides a lovely ambient warmth which can be enhanced with the four-sided central woodburner. The mood lighting panels and multi-room music allow you to create just the right mood for your holiday. We love our family holidays at Croftgarrow and hope that, after a very short time, you will understand why. Outside: The property sits in around 0.5 acre of private land, mostly laid to lawn. Doors from the dining and living areas lead to a sheltered south-facing verandah and the landscaped gravel courtyard containing the hot tub, garden furniture, barbeque and log store. The property has uninterrupted views up to Glen Lyon and Croftgarrow Wood. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed Linen is 100% Egyptian Cotton. Fluffly towels and bathrobes are included along with complimentary Arran Aromatics toiletries. The property is cleaned once a week on changeover day. A mid-stay clean can be arranged at additional cost.

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in a cosy, well equiped and lovely decorated home. Not far from Glen Lyon with great walks and nearby a nice Hotel with a Pub (Music) and great food. We just spoiled ourself. We can highly recommend it when you would like to stay in the Heart of Scotland.

Thank you to Susan and Chris!

Stunning property in a lovely location.

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 adults - parents and adult son. Location was great as our son is based in Aberdeen and we had spent the previous week in the Lake District.

The house is lovely and everything works properly! Croftgarrow is extremely well equipped and we lacked nothing to make it a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We found plenty to do in the surrounding area, even when the weather was inclement. Lots of good pubs for lunches out and an excellent butcher in Aberfeldy provided for easy suppers at Croftgarrow. We also enjoy playing Scrabble in the evenings, something we hadn't done for many years! Will certainly recommend to friends and family.

Excellent all round.

  • 5 of 5

Croft Garrow is in an excellent location if you like beautiful views. It is quite close to Loch Tay where there are various facilities and really good restaurants. The property is well maintained and is the height of luxury with comfortable beds, a fabulous hot tub and plenty of space just to name some of the features. We would definitely book again.

5 Star Getaway - Recommended

  • 5 of 5

We booked this accommodation for 4 nights but wished we could have stayed longer. This property lived up to all of our expectations and was absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Every modern feature was supplied including Wi-Fi, Sky, Wii, board games and puzzles. We even made ice-cream, a first for us. We used the hot-tub every day, even when the wind whistled down the Glen and a variety of wildlife also visited us daily. We found the information book extremely useful and comprehensive. Our new favourite walk is the, “Birks ‘O Aberfeldy” and there are many more to take in this area. We would love to repeat our experience sometime in the near future.

Pure luxury

  • 5 of 5

We had the most amazing stay at Croftgarrow. It is sheer luxury and three nights just weren't long enough. Everything you can think of is here and the views are superb. My granddaughter loved watching the sheep in the adjacent field. The beds are so luxurious you didn't want to get up in the morning! Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning again..Thank you Sue.
