Charming cottage with a lovely garden set in a quiet residential street only a few minutes’ walk from the beach and the historic centre of Cascais. Close to the road to Guincho and a few minute’s drive from Quinta da Marinha (Golf Course, Health Club and Spa). Newly renovated and decorated by its owners for own use, the property has a wood-panelled ceiling and is set over two floors. It is tastefully furnished and combines comfort and relax with design and art deco antiques. Ground floor accommodation comprises a large living room with 'fall-into' sofas, a dining area with 8 seats and double doors to the garden, a reading room, a complete bathroom and a spacious and fully equipped kitchen with an ample lunch area which may also be used as playground for kids and includes a football table. The first floor has 3 luminous bedrooms: one with a double bed and the other 2 with twin-beds. The garden, with a nice terrace, is ideal for relaxing, kids playing and outdoor eating.
About Cascais and its surroundings : Situated close to the sea and traditionally a fishing village, Cascais is a charming, historic town with a nice beach and plenty to visit as well as restaurants, nightlife, and shopping. The world famous for surfing Guincho beach, which hosts the Windsurf World Championship League, is 10 km from Cascais.
Cascais is also famous for the yachting club and race tracks, and, of course, the golf courses. It is close to Estoril, with the famous Casino and beautiful beaches. The romantic world heritage town of Sintra is only a 30 minutes drive away.
Golf information : Portugal is a golfer’s paradise. The golf courses of Oitavos, Quinta da Marinha, and Estoril are nearby. And three other golf courses, Penha Longa, Estoril, and Lisbon Sports Club are within 30min range.
Getting there and around : Cascais can be reached by car from Lisbon airport in 40 - 60 minutes, via the A5 motorway or the more scenic Marginal road along the estuary. There is a variety of local shops and restaurants within walking distance from the cottage. There is a bus service (BusCas) every seven minutes to the town centre and train station. Taxis are close by or can be ordered.

Peaceful, spacious, ultra clean, wonderful host!
We loved this house in Cascais. It provided us with a perfect base to explore the area. Claudia (the host) was extremely helpful, picking us up from the station and responding to our every need. Don't be fooled by the pictures, the house is far more spacious than it looks. Our 3 children (8,7,4) loved the toys and garden for playing in. The old town is 5 mins by foot, down town and the beach is 10. We had some excellent meals in the old town, far more authentic and characterful than the tourist areas. Cascais is a delight. The only recommendation I have is a stove top coffee pot as opposed to the filter machine and a washing machine. Thanks so much Claudia for a fantastic holiday.
Thank you Nick for such a great review. It's really rewarding for me to know you had a great family time at our cottage. And next time, the coffee machine will be there, that's a promise!
Perfect location and great for young families
This is a really lovely house in a wonderful town and Claudia is a very accomodating and responsive host.
The house was really well equipped for small children-our 3-year-old loved the toy cars, puzzles, paddling pool and bat and ball and Claudia did a great job providing everything our 9-month-old needed, including high chair, cot, bedding and safety fences round the stairs.
The location was great-a quiet street in the museum quarter, with easy access to the brilliant local park, Paula Rego museum (between exhibitions whilst we were there but we enjoyed the café), good choice of local restaurants and a 10 minute walk to the old town, bus station, train station and lovely beaches (via delicious ice cream and pastries). We didn't need to hire a car at all.
Claudia was really helpful both before and throughout our stay. She arranged for taxis from and to the airport, provided some groceries as we arrived late, offered a laundry service and was really responsive to any queries we had.
Lovely house, in the heart of old Cascais Close to the sea
Really helpful owner with a house in a quiet part of Cascais, but close to the sea.
Spacious house close to centre of Cascais but in quiet area
We (2 adults & 2 teenagers) have just come back from Cascais where we had a wonderful time. We were very kindly collected from the train station by Claudia, the owner of the house. In addition to collecting us ,she gave us a short tour of the town. The house, which is situated on a quiet street is only a 5 minute walk from the town centre. There was a nice area at the back where one could sit out...with plenty of seating. A great variety of toys would keep younger children amused & the fussball provided our teenagers with some entertainment.
The house itself was as described...very spacious and tastefully decorated .There were 3 bedrooms which would comfortably sleep 6 people. There was a large living and dining room, a tv room with lots of videos for adults and children(mainly Portoguese,I think). There was a nice kitchen with dining area...loads of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc. In addition,Claudia left a welcome pack (cookies, wine, juice, oil etc) and there were other basics ( coffee, tea etc) & cleaning agents which was great as it reduced the shopping bill! There was no airconditioning but there were plenty of electric fans which worked perfectly.
Towels, bed linen, etc were all included & some spare items were available.
We stayed for just one week so laundry was not really an issue but the house would benefit form a washing machine especially if staying for longer. Also, the shower ( which is in the bath tub ) could do with updating.
These were the only slight negatives in house of positives.
Claudia was available if we had any problems ( we didn't)& she organised our taxi back to the airport too which was great.
We were really very happy with this property and would recommend it to families.
We also wish to thank Claudia for making us so welcome.
Cora & family
Bom dia, Cora,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! And also for your suggestions : your feed-back is essential to help me improving quality.
It was a pleasure having you as our guests and I hope to see you again next year!
Wishing you all the best,
I can't say enough about this cottage and its owner Claudia. Not only did she organise transport from the airport as we had a toddler in tow, but turned up to greet us to provide information and a tour of the cottage. The cottage itself is much bigger than the photos show and wonderful for children as it has a playroom, garden, paddling pool, a hamper of toys and a small car that kept our 2.5-year-old occupied for hours!
Cascais itself is like stepping onto a movie set and this cottage is located in the Museum quarter with a park only minutes away with playground and roosters. If you like art, there are a few museums to explore and the Paula de Rego exhibit in the Casa das História across the road is a great way to spend an hour or two. The beaches are lovely with loads of options to sunbathe and swim while there are so many lovely restaurants it's very easy to never eat in the same place! Be sure to check out some of the eateries near the cottage as they serve some wonderful food with a local atmosphere rather than the 'tourist' experience.

Superb 3 bed cottage in excellent location - comes highly recommended
Cannot really say anything that hasn't been said before. However would reinforce:
Location - easy 7/8 minute walk into town / marina / beach - plenty of places to eat and lovely town to explore
Cottage - Typical fairly large Portuguese Cottage. Court yard area at rear for sunbathing and eating. A real home from home with everything you need. We were a family of 4 Adults.
Welcome - nothing too much trouble with owner (Claudia) at the end of the telephone if needed
Arrival - we came by train from Lisbon Airport so easy : two tubes then a train to Cascais - journey cost less than 5 Euros per person in total and tubes/trains running regularly
Area - easy access to Lisbon by bus or train, Sintra reached easily by bus and easy walking distance to Estoril resort area
We would highly recommend this as a place to stay
The cottage is located in a quiet and well maintained residential area in the centre of Cascais right next to the municipal garden and the Casa das Histórias - Paula Rego museum, designed by the renowned architect Eduardo Souto Moura. A few minutes’ walk will take you to Cascais beaches and to the historic centre with its many restaurants, pubs and shops. Or you can walk to the Marina or to Cascais Villa, one of the best Shopping Centres on this coast. The road to Guincho is also only a 10-min walk. This road has a cycle and jogging track used to pedal, run or walk all the way up to Guincho, the world famous beach. A 2min drive/15min walk on this road will take you to Casa da Guia with its marvellous sea views, restaurants and coffee shops set in the grounds of the old manor house with a range of stylish shops and boutiques. Within 5 min drive, Quinta da Marinha Golf and Oitavos Golf courses can be reached.
