Combining the rustic charm of a traditional Savoyarde village with the comfort of modern living (and a reliable wifi connection), Le Migou (Saint Bon Lodge) is situated in the stunning Parc National de La Vanoise in the world's largest skiable area - Les Trois Vallees. There are two double rooms (including a stunning loft space) and one double bunk room along with a spacious living room and kitchen area complete with wood-burning stove. The bathroom includes a full-sized bath tub and there's a washing machine and dryer.
After university I managed to fit in a few ski seasons working in Les Trois Vallees and there, along with a few bruises and passable French, I picked up a taste for the traditional Savoyarde village. Tucked away from its famous neighbours, Saint Bon is just a few minutes by bus or skis from the big-name resorts but offers something completely different after a day on the slopes. Here it's more about a glass of wine by the fire than a toffee vodka and a queue for the bar... but if you're after some noise, you can be in Courchevel in minutes and, if you need some more thrills, shun the bus home and bum sledge back to Saint Bon - but don't forget your goggles and waterproofs.
Guy Monson purchased this chalet in 2010
Saint Bon is an old-fashioned Savoyarde Village where your neighbours still say hello to you but it's also in the centre of Les Trois Vallees and flanked by some of the most famous ski resorts in the world.
In the summer the Parc National de La Vanoise offers fantastic mountain biking, climbing, mountaineering, walking, mushrooming, via ferrata and more. You can even swim in the hotel pool in the village (if you're nice to the hotel staff) or any number of lakes and streams.
You'll go to sleep listening to the sound of the nearby stream and smelling the pine trees.
There's so much to do in Les Trois Vallees/Parc National de la Vanoise that you'll be glad of a log fire, a bath and an evening in.
This property is new to the market this year but tried, tested and loved by friends and family. Please feel free to ask for a reference if you're worried.
Not too far from the slopes, the walk to the bus stop gets your blood pumping, good cardio!
7 stayed in one go, it was fine sleep wise we just had to be very organised for the bathroom. (One toilet / bathroom for 7 was a struggle at times)
Everything you need is there which is a bonus.
Supermarket up the very steep hill is expensive but they are lovely people!
Bus to the slopes is regular and easy, with good access to the miles of skiing.
We really enjoyed our stay at St Bon lodge and loved the house. We also thought the village was fantastic including the pizza's at the Black Pearl!!.
The owners Guy and Helle were very helpful before and during our stay. I would recommend staying at this property
We have just returned from a fantastic week at Le Migou (Saint Bon Lodge) and thoroughly recommend it. The house is very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The kitchen is well-equipped and it was a delight to return to the house each evening after a day on the slopes. The wood-burning fire was especially welcome. It really feels like a home and the owners are very helpful in providing extra information and contacts. The photos are an accurate representation of the layout and furnishings of the house.
St Bon is well located for the ski slopes, easy access to the excellent local ski bus and chairlifts to the main ski resorts of Courchevel. We enjoyed the peace and village charm of St Bon and our kids found lots of places to enjoy sledging. The local pizza restaurant, The Black Pearl, was great and would recommend that you reserve ahead as it's very popular.
We hope to return to St Bon day!

For a pizza and a beer or some wine, just walk 50 metres up the hill to the Black Pearl. You'll find local shops up the hill in Le Praz (2 km) and down the hill in Bozel (7 km). For a choice of hypermarkets there's nearby Moutiers and for expensive champagne and caviar, you'd be foolish not to nip up the hill to Courchevel 1850.
