About Caroline Davey

Having stayed ourselves in many gites and holiday cottages in the UK and France, we wanted to create something a little different. The little touches that can make your hard earned break away that bit special. We offer an advance grocery service, plus all the little bits'n'bobs ready for you in your gite. No unforeseen extras, privacy and no disturbances, but help and advice if you need it. We have tried to provide everything you'll need to settle in straight away, whether it's putting the kettle on for a cuppa (tea & coffee provided) or opening the wine (supplied)! Our reputation is vital, we aim high and pay close attention to the detail.

Caroline Davey purchased this barn in 2005

Why Caroline Davey chose Bellac

The Limousin is quiet and unspoilt with meandering country lanes, free of traffic, roadside cafes to while away the time and watch the world go buy.

Very little graffiti and litter, and pure clean air due to the lack of industry. Lakes and mature oak trees dot the landscape of rolling countryside reminiscent of many rural areas of England. The climate is the reason I love the Limousin, warm hot summers but usually a gentle breeze so you are not stifled. Exciting light shows with the summer storms. Spring is warm and full of bursting promise, enjoyed in a light fleece or t-shirt. Warm enough to sunbathe, cool enough at night for the odd log fire. Autumn brings warm days tinged with reds and golds. Maple trees of bright crimson dot the landscape and warm russet brackens edge the roadsides.

What makes this barn unique

The property brings tranquility and relaxation, safety for all the family and "home from home" comfort and facilities. You don't have to pack the kitchen sink, it really is all here for you. The little details are what make a great holiday, the extras that mean you relax straight away. Advice on hand, but never intrusive. Experienced gite owners who really want you to enjoy the farm & whole experience. The property is rural but not remote, with easy access to shops, restaurants, places of interest and activities for all ages. This is a home, equipped as a home with books to read, games for all ages to play, comfy quality settees and excellent beds to retire to after a fun filled day. Holidays are precious, so why risk going anywhere else - our guests vote us one of the best gites in France

Pretty, Peaceful, Perfect getaway!

We stayed for a week at the Farmhouse and it was a just what we needed!! The owners, Caroline and Dave were very friendly and extremely flexible to accommodate our needs with regards to arrival and departure times. The additional shopping and meal options offered, I thought were a special touch and an example to how the owners went out of there way to make your stay a fabulous one. Nothing was too much trouble - they booked a table at a lovely restaurant for us, left the lights on when we were late home one evening, recommended were we could get the typical Limousin dish - Pate aux Pomme de Terre and gave helpful, insightful advice about living in France. They had the balance perfect - so to not encroach on your personal space, but made themselves available when needs be.

You have to try the fresh eggs! They were the most beautiful vibrant yellow color and simply delicious (I even took some home :)).

The home itself has everything you need for a self catering holiday and also lots of helpful leaflets/ information for suggestions of where to go around the nearby towns, walks and attractions. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from it all and have a fabulous relaxing time.

Thank you so much for our wonderful stay!

What a wonderful place to stay. Nothing is too much trouble for Caroline and Dave to make sure you are comfortable. We stayed a week while we were house-hunting and were able to use the Grange as a base while we visited other properties. Caroline not only helped with background knowledge but lit the woodburner for us each day so that the rooms were lovely and warm when we got home after a long day out. The property is spotlessly clean and has every home comfort you could need besides having hens, ducks and horses as neighbours to enjoy!! Make sure you request one of Caroline's quiches or her home-made bread - both are delightful.

What a fabulous break

  • 5 of 5

We would recommend La Grange as a great place to stay. It is extremely comfortable and has a very welcoming atmosphere. The bedrooms are spacious, with plenty of cupboard and drawer space. The kitchen has all 'mod cons' and the open plan living area is very attractive. Caroline's first evening meal (most welcome after a long journey) and 'starter pack' of food to get us through to the following day were much appreciated

The main house and the gites have been cleverly designed around a central courtyard. You feel part of the farm - watching the horses being led between their stables and the fields or the chickens and ducks in the courtyard - but La Grange's outside seating area is entirely private from the other gite and main house

We spent some time walking around the farm. Although we were only there for 4 full days, we suspect that if you are into painting, photography, fishing or bird watching, there would be enough to keep you occupied without the need to leave the farm

There were two large folders of pamphlets and brochures for places to visit and things to do. This was the first time that we had been to the Limousin/Haute-Vienne area and we had not appreciated how much there is to see: historical sites, mediaeval towns. churches and abbeys and open air markets. The bird of prey display at Chauvigny is a spectacle not to be missed

We intend to return, hopefully soon
