Near Helford, beaches and SW Coast Path. Sorry - no dogs
Unusually for a holiday let, it has full central heating and an open log fire and it is therefore ideal for breaks throughout the year. Meadowbank offers a rare and peaceful haven overlooking the ancient village church. The south facing terrace and garden offers a sunny and relaxing addition to the house. The thatched village pub is a short distance down the hill and is well worth a visit, for such an old building it is ironically named 'The New Inn'. Changeover day is normally a Friday but this is more flexible at quieter times of the year.

About Francis Carne
Meadowbank has belonged to the family for many years but has only recently been available for rent. The owner grew up locally and despite having to work 'up-country' has spent almost all his holidays in this special corner of Cornwall. The rest of the family needed no persuasion to love it also. This is their only holiday property and is used frequently giving it a high level of attention and comfort.
Francis Carne purchased this House in 1995

The cottage was great
We really appreciated the owner for providing the towels which were not included in the rental the village was delightful as the local pub did serve food which was very good all in all had a wonderful time
loved it sorry to leave
The house was lovely, felt really homely and was well equipped. I had my mum and 3 grandson's with me aged 4, 6 and nearly 11 they loved the garden and adopted the conservatory as their drawing room.
The village was lovely plenty of walks if that appeals to you, it was lovely and quiet (well except the grandsons). Within the village there was a little restaurant a pub and a chippy van appeared a night through the week.
I have been coming to Cornwall for over 10 years and hadn't spent much time on this peninsula and have to say it was very nice. I would definitely go back to the house and location.
Be prepared for narrow roads and we did plenty of travelling around Cornwall inluding The Eden Project, Minack theatre and pothcurno beach, church cove, Paradise park, Heartlands, The Lost gardens of Heligan and much much more. Cornwall has someone for everyone regardless of age and taste or weather. You can spend as much or little as you want.
Helston was the nearest town maybe 10min drive had plenty of facilities but lots of the little villages had wee shops for general supplies or local produce.
Loved it will always be drawn back to Cornwall. We even had a visitor in the form of a stick insect fair took the boys interest. In fact when it was time to come home all 3 boys wanted to stay and there mum and baby brother move down. So the house, location and Cornwall worked it's magic again.
Thank you Francais
Beautiful holiday home in an ideal location
A family of 6 adults stayed for 1 week in March in this beautiful holiday home. Plenty of space and the gardens were glorious.
A minor hitch on arrival - there was no oil to fuel the heating -which was soon rectified by the owner -and we were very generously reimbursed. We made use of the open fire in the evenings which was lovely.
The weather was lovely for the time of the year and we made the most of it.
The Eden project & Gardens of Heligan were just over an hour away.
Ideally situated for St Ives, Lands End, Falmouth, Truro, Lizard Point and many other places.
Would thoroughly recommend this holiday home.
On arrival there was a tea tray (with a proper teapot!) all laid out for us, which was very welcome, along with biscuits! Little bunches of flowers from the garden had been thoughtfully left in several places in the house . A chilled bottle in the fridge.... all these things made for a most delightful stay. The cottage is in a very quiet location and is spacious and extremely well equipped. The only real downside is the entrance - no sign on the gate so you are not entirely certain that you are at the right place initially, and the driveway is very tight to get into and out of, especially if, like us, you have a long estate car. That aside, it's wonderful - go!!
Perfection in every way
We have stayed here every October half-term for the past three years and every time have found this home wonderful. It has everything you could want, is always immaculately clean and warm. It is truly a five star property in a wonderful location suitable for families and adult couples alike. It is so peaceful yet there is so much to do in the surrounding area.
Get away from it all
A relaxing week in this lovely village-peace and tranquility. Property clean, comfortable and spacious, with all the home comforts we could want. Picturesque location, a short drive from several beautiful beaches and many places of interest. A great break for families and nature lovers. Well recommended
Coast/Beach: Wooded footpaths lead from the village down ancient routes where 10 minutes walking will bring you to the water's edge at Carne and St. Anthony is a further stroll along the wooded lane. It is about 15 to 20 minutes walk down to Helford. From Helford the section of the South West Coastal Path along the estuary to the sea should not be missed. The wider sandy beaches on the west coast near Mullion are about a 15 minute drive. The North Coast beaches Nr St Ives are about a 45 minute drive. Travel: Truro Station is about a 45 minute drive. Airport near Newquay about 1 hour's drive. Distances: Helford Village is half a mile. Town of Helston 9 Miles. Falmouth 25 miles. Truro 30 miles. Further Details: The small and picturesque village of Manaccan nestles in one of Cornwall's quietest and most unspoilt corners. A cluster of houses surround an ancient church with a bistro-cafe enhancing the little community. The village occupies a sunny and elevated position between the south side of the Helford River and the little creek that runs from the sea up to Carne. Tennis courts can be rented at a very reasonable rate at the top of the village and boats of all shapes and sizes are available for hire at St. Anthony and Helford. (It's best to book early for these during July and August). The village shop recently closed but there are shops in Helford and Newtown and also supermarkets in the town of Helston which is about 9 miles away. Fresh fish and organic produce including the very best Cornish Pasties can be found at Gear Farm shop, about 3 miles away near St Martin.
