About Rosie Kelbrick
Rosie and Julian own and look after Ty Bach, a short distance from their house in Maerdy near Bala. We moved into the house (previously owned by Julian's parents) when it became too much for his mum. Initially we planned to restore the house and move closer to work but we fell in love with the house, the moutains and surrounding area! Having got the bug we have moved on to refurbishing Ty Bach.which is now a cosy retreat for 2.
Rosie Kelbrick purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Rosie Kelbrick chose Corwen
The property has been owned within the family for over 40 years and Ty Bach itself was originally the tool-shed to the small-holding. In later years Ty Bach was used as the log-store. The garden and moorland has a far-away peaceful feeling. There are remnants of ages gone-by on the land for example sheep-dip; dry-stone walls; and an example of fortifications. The main house is believed to have been built in the 1700s as a shepherds "overnight" rest although it was extended in the 1800s when it became a small-holding. The land will have been used by goat shepherds driving their goat herds to market across the Hiraethog region. Ty Bach comes with much history as an outbuilding to the main house.
What makes this Cottage unique
Although the surroundings are rural, beautiful and wild at times giving the impression you are in remote countryside, it is only 5 minutes drive down the private track and onto the lane to the main road (A5). It is convenient for days out in Snowdownia, Betwys y Coed, Llangollen with its various festivals or even the coast (about an hour) but equally can be enjoyed for what it is: a rural retreat in the countryside where walks and wildlife abound. Walks are peaceful and private.
