Our family live in Great Ayton, we have 2 children age 9 x 10, and a dog called Ester. We love living in North Yorkshire and enjoy all the fantastic things we can do as a family in the area such as wonderful walks and places to visit. We think it is a brilliant place for a holiday.
cherie larkin purchased this cottage in 2010
after enjoying running a 3 bedroom cottage , for the last 10 years , we had the oppotunity to develope , a 1 bedroom cottage , we thought it would be perfect for the single traveller or couple , and we are very happy to welcome your pets
the cottage is ideal for the single traveller , or couple , bring your dogs and enjoy the wonderfull walks
thank you for the warm welcome and home baked cake, we had a lovely Christmas here in Great Ayton, lots of walks in the beautiful countryside and beach, and the coffee shop at Kildale that allows dogs was a great recommendation
Great base for lots of days out, we felt very at home - everything in the cottage for a relaxing stay.
Clean and comfortable cottage. Great position in lovely village. Friendly welcome by the owner who was at hand to help if needed. Ideal location for walking - spotted a kingfisher nearby. Enjoyed Roseberry Topping, train to Whitby and a lovely meal at the Buck Inn. I have already recommended the cottage to a friend. Great to be able to take the dog - a ver enjoyable break.
We just had the best weekend in the truly gorgeous village of Great Ayton. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. The bed was so comfy with lovely bedding and the thickest duvet on the planet.
Our host was welcoming and left us yummy treats and we simply loved our stay. It was all topped off with a walk to Roseberry Topping through fields of lambs on a sunny spring day. Perfect.
This cottage is exactly as per the description - modernly decorated, beautifully furnished, comfortable, clean and well-maintained. However, the bed was a bit hard but this was probably because we've just got a new mattress at home and noticed the difference. It was lovely to find fresh home-made biscuits and cake to welcome us - thank you Cherie. We found the cottage perfectly situated for exploring the village, the North Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Dales and the coast at Saltburn only 8 miles away. I found it just right for re-visiting the area where I grew up. Overall we'd thoroughly recommend this cosy place to any single person or couple and their dog. We hope to stay there again when we next visit the area.
For extra information, we recommend The Royal Oak public house about 5 - 10 minutes walk away, depending on how much sniffing your dog does! The staff were very welcoming and made a big fuss of our greyhound, Bella. The food portions were generous and delicious - good pub grub. Also try the ice cream along the street at Suggitts. It's an old fashioned sweetie shop but makes and sells the best ice cream ever and has been for generations according to my late Dad.
Me and my girlfriend recently stayed at River Cottage and it was lovely. We were greeted with a very friendly welcome from Mike who not only showed us the cottage but also gave us some tips on things to do and places to eat. Cherie had also made some cheese scones, tea loaf and biscuits for us which was lovely and very tasty.
The cottage itself is really comfortable, clean and done out to a high standard. It also has a lovely outside area which is perfect if you get good weather. I couldn't recommend it enough and if we're back in the area we'll definitely be staying here.
A perfect location right in the middle of the village and a short walk to all amenities and bus routes. The cottage was perfectly clean and tastefully decorated. I always try to stay in one of the owners cottages whenever I am visiting the North Yorkshire Moors area. The owners are a delight to deal with and really make you feel at home.
And the HOME made cake is LUSH..
