About Tracey Jones
I live in Salisbury, Wiltshire & enjoy cycling, golf and walking. The holiday home was purchased after holidaying for many years in the Dordogne as a family. The farmhouse needed extensive renovation but we thought it was worth all the hard work, due to it's location close to Chateau Vigiers golf course www.vigiers.com. I hope you have a wonderful holiday and are here to arrange everything for you to make your holiday stress free - Tracey Jones
Tracey Jones purchased this Villa in 2000
Why Tracey Jones chose Thénac
We love this part of the Dordogne as it is peaceful and rural with wonderful scenery, but still only 20 minutes to Bergerac and 1 hour from Bordeaux. The area has many colourful markets and night markets, a wide variety of good restaurants and lots of things to do for all ages. Golf is very close by - Chateau des Vigiers - which is a pleasure to play. The house is surrounded by a network of quiet lanes which are safe and ideal for walking and cycling. Wild boar, deer and birds of prey are numerous. There are also numerous vineyards offering wine tasting, as well as the world famous St Emillion and Monbazillac. After travelling all over the world, this special area has proved to be very special. We hope you feel the same.
What makes this Villa unique
The farmhouse has many extras to ensure guests have a special holiday. For children the wendy house, sand pit, trampoline and heated pool are a big hit. For older "kids" the table tennis and plasma are a treat. We provide complimentary, unlimited, fast speed broadband. Bath and pool towels are also provided free of charge. We try to provide the best for our holidaymakers, with superking master beds, very good quality mattresses, duvets and Bedeck linen. All master bedrooms have tea/coffee facilities. The kitchen is well stocked and also has a Rangemaster large stove. You will be truly spoilt.

An excellent family home in a secluded spot.
A character family home in a secluded area of the Dordogne. All the home comforts you could wish for and extremely clean.
Several break out areas on patios and balcony. A great safe swimming pool and large garden area for active children.
Splendid back up from owners if any special needs.
Thank you to the Cribb family; we love having you as returning guests and look forward to welcoming you back next year. Tracey
Excellent holiday accomodation
“We were a family party ranging in ages from 70 to 7. The villa accomadated us all, with every possible activity you could want. We swam, cycled, played football, cricket and rounders. There was also the gym, sauna, pool table and table tennis. Difficult to tear the younger members away from the villa. An excellent holiday home for all ages. We had a holiday that will always be remembered as very special. I would also recommend Matthew 'the in house chef'. He prepared two excellent meals at the villa , and we also visited his pop up restaurant”
Very nice, well maintained holiday home
We spent a week in Acabanes to celebrate a birthday with our family comprising eight adults ranging in age from 39 to 82, two teenagers and a six-year-old. The house appeared to be very well equipped for all ages. Particularly the swimming pool with its constant 24-degree temperature and the pool table have been frequently used.
The house is very complete, has a well equipped kitchen and has enough space for a party of our size.
We had marvelous weather so we spent most of the time outdoors, but there are enough possibilities in case the weather is less attractive.
The information supplied by Tracey is very completeand and her follow up is excellent.
We are delighted that your special birthday holiday was a success and that everyone enjoyed themselves.
Thank you for your review and we look forward to welcoming you again. Tracey
Fantastic Villa, ideal for our family get together
We are regular visitors to Acabanes, and also the owners other property, La Grange Sud,we have family in the area and visit as often as we can. Acabanes is a fantastic Villa, equipped to a very high standard, and caters for all ages,.We hosted a large family get together ,with family joining us from several, different destinations, so we were confident that being based at Acabanes it could only be a wonderful holiday for us all..Everyone loved the Pool and sunbathing terrace,.There are lots of terraces and indoor areas,so you can socialise or find a quiet area if so required ! Plenty of space for the children to run around,,play football etc.
Quiet country lanes to enjoy cycle rides and walks, to lovely villages, vineyards etc, and the Bastide Towns, Markets, lovely restaurants, and the wonderful Chateau De Viigiers are all very close.
Tracey is very helpful and can arrange many other things such as Wine Tasting etc, and even a Chef to visit and cook for you at home.A great holiday.
We love having your family stay at both Acabanes and La Grange Pat and looking forward to seeing you all again in November! Tracey
This property has everything one could possibly wish for. The listing description was accurate but the photos do not do it justice. The facilities within the property are numerous and the customer service provided by the owner was incredible. she could not do enough to ensure we had a happy holiday. The local restaurants were excellent, the roads were quiet enabling us all to cycle, we went canoeing and of course the pool was invaluable with young children included in our party. The area is quiet and pretty and don't forget the wine tasting!
Thanks Maggie for a wonderful review and I am delighted you and your family had a wonderful holiday
Whatever you enjoy doing on holiday, the area has something for all tastes. This lovely villa is situated in South West France, in a lovely area of the Western Dordogne, close to the towns of Bergerac, Duras and Eymet and one hour drive east of Bordeaux. It is only six hours driving time from the port of St Malo. It is a wonderful location for golfers as is only five minutes from Château Vigiers, one of the best golf resorts in France which also has a 1 Star Michelin restaurant. Our guests receive a 30% discount on golf rounds at Vigiers. We have complimentary trolleys/bags/clubs for our guests to enable them to fly rather than drive, if they choose to. The nearest large town is Bergerac, twenty minutes north east of the house. Bergerac is a Medievel town which is fascinating to explore with a Tobacco Museum and Wine Museum. Visitors can also take river cruises on the Dordogne river in a traditional boat. Bordeaux is an easy 1 hour drive or a short train ride from St Foy la Grande, just 15 minutes away. Bordeaux has a world beating Wine Museum called the Cite Du Vin which a unique museum dedicated to the wine culture. Bordeaux also has fantastic shopping and restaurants. Arcachon and the Atlantic coast is a 90 minute drive. Visit the famous Dune De Pyla, the largest sand dune in Europe and eat oysters in Arcachon Bay with a chilled glass of white wine. All our guests enjoy Famille Moutier for a traditional Perigordine Sunday lunch. It is a 4 hour experience for 38€ with all wines included. Just a 10 minute cycle or 2 minute drive away. The local, friendly restaurant of Relais de Monestier is also a great place to eat with 2 courses for 16€ and carafes of local village wine. Monestier is just a 5 minute drive. The Sunday morning market at Issigeac, a medieval village is a wonderful experience where with the locals you can buy oysters, foes gras, the sweet white wine of Monbazillac and local vegetables from farmers in the surrounding villages. Our guests really enjoy local wine tasting and we have close links with 3 local vineyards. 1. Chateau Feely is an award winning organic, biodynamic vineyard, where Caro and Sean will welcome you warmly. 2. Chateau Lestevenie was recently televised on Channel 4 - New Lives in The Sun. Humphrey will show you around his vineyard where rare, wild orchids grow. 3. Chateau Thenac in the village where Caroline will guide you through the magnificent wines and where you must try the Plum Eau de Vie. Our guests also enjoy wine tasting in Ste Emilion, a world Heritage Unesco Site. Tracey can recommend where to taste wine in the village and also the best places to have lunch. All the local villages have colourful markets. Out of season there are also speciality markets including truffles and walnuts. There is a buddist retreat also close by, Plum Village, and our guests are always welcome to visit to share lunch with the monks and sisters or to share in a meeting. Acabanes is full of charm and character, situated in a quiet location on the side of a gentle hill with south facing views over the surrounding rolling countryside and vineyards and within an easy walk of the local village of Thenac. The large village of Siguoles is a five minute drive away and has all the amenities of a typical French village including a restaurant, supermarket; boulangerie; charcuterie; tabac; bank; cafe; pharmacy Other local Activities include; Go karting; Ten Pin Bowling; Canoeing; Waterparks, horse riding and fishing Additional Golf information - Tee times can be booked by Tracey, the owner and advice given on courses, locally and further afield. Acabanes is only five minutes from Chateau des Vigiers, one of the best golf resorts in France. Donald Steel (designer of the Forest of Arden championship course) is considered to be one of the very best 'natural' golf course architects, created this unique 18-hole, par 72 course in its enthralling setting amidst plum trees, oak woods, lakes and vineyards. Donald, who has contributed to many world-famous courses such as the Jubilee and Eden courses at St. Andrews as well as Chantilly in France, designed the course with the Château as its centrepiece; the 9th and 18th finishing off in front of the Château; and many of the other undulating greens with different perspectives of the Château. When asked by Golf World to name his favourite hole from his long career, Donald chose N° 18 at Château des Vigiers, with its dogleg over a ridge for the second shot over the lake on to the green, in front of the Château. Subsequently it was described in Golf World under the heading 'Vintage Finale'. Château des Vigiers' course is maintained as a holiday course with short rough, promoting quick play and accessibility for higher handicaps. However, the greens are frequently lightning fast and prove a test for any golfer. With strategic pin positions and longer rough, the course can be turned into a challenge for the best golfer.
