The cottage is a classic and sympathetic conversion of a former fisherman's cottage. Warm and inviting with beamed ceilings and fireplaces. It is set over 4 floors, so is spacious, and there is room for everyone to find their own space. The cottage is located on a quiet cobbled street, away from the main shopping areas but close enough to nip out for something like, a bottle of wine, or a cake for tea! The harbour front is a two minute walk and the 5 amazing beaches are all very close by, as are the Tate Gallery, shops, Barbara Hepworth Museum, award winning restaurants and the coastal path. Well behaved dogs are allowed, a maximum of 2 at an extra charge. The cottage has central heating and sealed unit heritage sash windows, so perfect for winter lets. There are sea views from two of the bedrooms. St Ives has a special quality of light that has been attracting artists for decades, it has a Mediterranean feel and has won many accolades for its scenic beauty, and has been named as one of the seven most beautiful bays in the world. One week is not enough!

Why Deborah Elliott chose St Ives area

I first fell in love with St Ives when my children were very small, now they are all grown up with their own families. I brought the young teenage children down on a camping trip, and ended up viewing properties while they were off amusing themselves on the beaches. I was shown Salmons Leap and new I had to have it, even though it was a bit 'tired'! Over the years i have refurbished it and lavished much love and attention on it, making it a home for us, and hopefully, a home from home for visitors. I have had families returning year on year, and some younger children have even grown up spending their summer vacation at the cottage!

It has the best location right in the centre of town, close to everything, and is safe for children being on a traffic free cobbled street... and those views!

What makes this house unique

The cottage is right in the heart of the town but set back slightly, on a quieter cobbled street, so you don't get the noise, only the convenience of being so close to the shops, harbour, beaches and restaurants, no steep hills to climb, common in St Ives, so you can nip out for that early morning breakfast, the paper, or a cake for tea. The only danger you may face is being photographed on one of the prettiest streets in St Ives!

Older children are safe doing their own thing, and the younger ones can even join in the toddler groups and children's activities in the Methodist Chapel opposite, now used as a Sunday school and hall.

Salmons Leap has been a popular holiday retreat since 1997 for both us and visitors.

The large single bedroom, which also has a lot of storage, has a pretty cast iron bed and sea views, and the attic room has a quirky New England feel, 2 single beds and views out over the bay and beyond.

Outside: There is a covered courtyard at the rear for hanging washing, storing boards etc, and the bin is located here. There is an alley leading down to Fore Street, the main shopping street of St Ives. This is most suited for those with push chairs, who can pop quickly down to the main street. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / end of stay cleaning The house is cleaned at every changeover by my housekeeper, and all quality cotton linen and towels are put in place.

Set in the heart of the bustling fishing town of St Ives, we could not be in a better location for mooching and exploring. Salmon's Leap is a little haven of peace and tranquility with all of the excellent facilities you need to have a very comfortable stay indeed. Tucked away just behind the main shopping street, Fore Street, the cottage is very clean, well appointed and tastefully furnished. It never ceases to amaze me that, having visited on a number of occasions in recent years, the cottage is always immaculately decorated and maintained to a very high standard. We are always looked after and treated well with help on hand and close by should we need it.The restaurants and local pubs provide a great range of atmospheres, character and pricing, the food is always good and the retail therapy, excellent! There is plenty of scope for visiting places of interest, historical and otherwise and this year The Eden Project was on our must do list and was well worth the visit. I would never hesitate to recommend Salmon's Leap to anyone. A very welcome retreat from the hamster wheel of life. Wish we could stay there more often.

Open the door on the lovely blue house and enjoy

Salmons leap is a lovely house on a quiet cobbled street . It has everything you need and more . The views from upstairs are beautiful . Beds and bedding like staying in a hotel . The back entrance into Fore st was a big p!us , surfboards and wetsuits safe without having to leave in house . Jasper the dog loved it too . Deborah the owner is great at corresponding , we love st Ives and can't wait to go back .

Exacly what I hoped for.

Obviously cared for, well set out holiday cottage in an ideal location. Lovely and clean with very comfortable beds. Debbie was a pleasure to deal with and I look forward to going back next year.

Beautiful holiday home

We are just home from staying in this very central holiday home in the heart of St Ives. Close to the harbour, High Street and all the local beaches. The home itself is a spacious 4 storey house and fitted out with everything you need for a comfortable stay ! The owner is very helpful and offers advice about parking and tips on the house. We had a lovely stay and hope to return one day !

Salmons Leap was a pleasure to stay in. The cottage is utterly charming and had everything catered for. Very convenient to beaches and shops but down a nice quiet street. Parking is a common problem but we booked in to St Ives secure car park which is a 5 minute taxi ride away. We recommend the Alba and Rahjoot restaurants. We would definitely book again and recommend this cottage. Please be warned tho the seagulls do not sleep at night and are extremely noisy so keep your windows shut!!

Definitely recommend

We have stayed in many properties in St Ives over the years, but have to say the standard that this house is furnished to is the best. Lovely comfortable beds with soft, good quality linen. Everything you could ask for in terms of kitchen equipment, decorated to a very high standard. Clearly a very loved home which we thoroughly enjoyed staying in. The location was perfect, quiet but seconds from the main shopping street and beaches.

Car: not necessary


The beaches and harbour are all minutes away, as is access to the coastal path.


Newquay is the nearest regional airport. there is a train station in St Ives, and is one of the best ways to arrive, the last leg of the journey from St Erth to st Ives is very scenic. A car is not essential.
