About the property

Recently Modernised and fully renovated, 3-bedroom former bakery, just 10 minutes from the beach.

Seaward is our holiday home, a bright, recently renovated, warm and friendly house just a short walk from the beautiful beach at Ventnor, the bustling town centre and the Isle of Wight coastal path.

All rooms have been decorated and furnished to a high standard and all mod-cons provided. Three good sized bedrooms comfortably sleep six people with bunk beds in one room, twin single beds in another and a large, comfortable king sized bed in the main bedroom.

The house was originally two properties, one the original baker's shop supplied direct by the bakery next door. The refurbishment has ensured that the house is comfortable (fully central heated and double glazed throughout) and modern (plain, Mediterranean style predominantly white interiors) without losing it's original charm.

Parking is available in St Catherine Street or, on the rare occasion that space is tight (sometimes in the peak season) there is a free 24 hour public car park just a 3 minute walk from the house.

We can't spend enough time there and hope you'll enjoy it too.

With two children aged 9 and 11, the Isle of Wight has been the perfect holiday escape for us for many years. We especially fell in love with Ventnor, with its unique Victorian charm, beautiful beach and friendly people. We bought our home there in 2010 and spent the best part of a year making it the perfect holiday escape.

Why Brendan Eley chose Isle of Wight

Ventnor is such a picturesque town, the quintessential Victorian seaside town but with something different. The Isle of Wight is known as a haven for food lovers and the bars, cafes and restaurants in the area are some of the best we have ever tried. The house is so close to the seafront, it's a 10 minute walk (via steps or step-free pavement) to the beach and town centre. We love this house, and the town and hope you will enjoy staying there too.

Notes on accommodation: Prices are inclusive of all cleaning costs, bed linen, gas, electricity and free wi-fi. Sorry, no smoking and, as much as we love them, no pets. Child travel cot, folding bed safety guard and fold away high chair all provided but there are no gates on the stairs. Outside: Decking area to front, accessed through lounge French windows, with outside table and chairs. Front paved area also accessed via French doors in dining room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Linen provided, changed weekly. House fully cleaned before each holiday. Other: Decking area to front, accessed through lounge French windows, with outside table and chairs.

Lovely house!

Beautiful sunny weather the week we were there. Easy walk to town centre (though map would be good). Spacious rooms. A lot of steps in the house. Sea glimpses from front window. Kitchen is at back, with no windows (no back garden). Central heating works well. You can put small table in bay window for a nice sunny breakfast!

Lovely holiday home!

Just on the ferry home after a lovely week staying at Seaward! The owners have been very thoughtful in how they have presented the holiday home and I believe it could be beautiful. It is a little disappointing that the home was not particularly clean on our arrival, this included the kitchen not being very clean and consisted of bits of food left on the work surface and the tiles. The carpets had obviously been hoovered but it's unfortunate that perhaps the people staying before us had eaten in the bedroom as there was still bits on the carpet. I appreciate its a quick turn around in the height of season so it makes deep cleaning such as windows and removing the many spiders and cobwebs a little tricky! Having said this the bedding and towels were lovely and fresh and this didn't have an impact on our stay! Our only other suggestion would be a bath mat as the bathroom floor gets very slippy making it a little dangerous for children. Apart from these small issues we have enjoyed our time in Ventnor and would stay at the property again.

Car Parking

Parking is available in the street outside the house. We rarely have a problem getting a space other than in the height of the season. It is quite central so spaces are limited but in the unusual event that you can't park, there is a free 24 hour car park (Wheeler's Bay Car Park) which is very near and connected to St Catherine Street via a set of steps. It is, approximately, a 3 minute walk away.

Ventnor is a foodies paradise; the house is a 10 minute walk to Michelin Star restaurant, The Hambrough and 10 minutes in the opposite direction, towards Bonchurch for the sister restaurant, The Pond Cafe. The Garlic Farm Cafe is a short drive away and Bluebells at Briddlesford is on the road north. More information and photographs of the house can be seen on our website.

Cancellation
If you cancel 8 weeks or more before your holiday, we will keep hold of the deposit but return anything else you may have paid (or, of course, not expect the full payment from you).  If you cancel with less than 8 weeks notice, this is the basis on which we would refund the money you had paid (less the deposit)
 
• Up to 8 weeks – no cancellation charge
• 4-8 weeks – 50% of money refunded
• 2-4 weeks – 25% of money refunded
• Less than 2 weeks – no refund
 
We are not greedy though and if we can let out the week(s) that you have cancelled at the same price, we promise to return 100% of what you have given us, including your original deposit.


Changeover Day:
Normal changeover is Saturday, but please ask and we will be flexible where we can, most likely in the 'low' seasons.

We will confirm a booking, and show the week(s) as booked on-line once we have received and banked your deposit.  This is a non-refundable deposit just to secure the booking.  We ask for the remainder of the full amount to be paid as soon as you are able, but at least 8 weeks before your holiday is due to start.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
