The Hen House is nestled in a valley which runs up from the coast at Porthallow on the edge of The Helford river. Here you will find oodles of peace and quiet, a wild flower meadow perfect for basking in the sun,a wild life pond and duck pond with seating to watch their antics. The barns surround a courtyard garden with a central patio with relaxed seating under the cherry trees. The garden is full of fairy lights at night and here we light the chiminea in the evenings as guests gather around to share travellers tales.
Perfect location for sandy beaches, cliff top walks and Helford boating activities

Having "escaped" our hectic life in the Thames valley we love our simpler Cornish life.
We aim for our guests to enjoy this magical peninsula as much as do so we will spend time with you on arrival finding out what you really want from your holiday. We then recommend pubs, restaurants, walks, activities and attractions to match what you enjoy.
Ensconced in hamlet life we celebrate the old customs of the land:wassailing the apple trees, pancake racing, digging for cockles(trigging), harvest suppers, solstice barbecues and Christmas and New Year parties.
We sing with The Cadgwith singers-sea shanties and old Cornish songs in pubs,on beaches and harbours Gary races wooden gigs and does Coast watch duties and Sandy oil paints, weaves baskets and takes to the stage with The Gweek Players.
Sandy & Gary Pulfrey purchased this barn in 2002
We chose The Hen House as our home for the peace and quiet so far off the beaten track, the stunning views and a simpler lifestyle much closer to nature.
The Lizard peninsula has huge areas owned by The National Trust and Natural England,is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and almost the entire coastline is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest for the flora, fauna or geology. We enjoy walking on the rugged western cliffs but prefer to live on the sheltered eastern side of the peninsula close to the delightful Helford river.
We aim to keep it as unspoilt as it is today whilst ensuring our guests have the best holiday ever.
