About Gerald

I live in Sydney with my wife and son. We have been coming to Callala Beach since 1993 and now are almost locals. We try and get down at least once a month and so keep a close watch on the property and its maintenance.

Gerald purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Gerald chose Callala Beach

We stumbled on to Callala Beach after reading a magazine article. It took only the first visit for us to fall in love with the place. However, it took another year before we found Dolphincove - we named it after the dolphins that swim past the cottage most days. We love it for its quietness - truly a place to get off the grid. Ten people on this 5km beach is a crowd. Even in stormy weather, it is highly therapeutic to don a jacket and to go for a long stroll. When it is sunny, the water is crystal clear. Avoid getting frightened by your own shadow on the seabed like I did, that first weekend.

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoy going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves. The night air is so clear that you get an amazing view of the Milky Way. It's smaller size means that it is highly affordable for couples or small families and still be on the beach. Most other properties in the area are much larger. Although Callala Beach itself is very quiet, you are within easy driving distance to many amenities in the area. For overseas rentals, we are looking at stocking the fridge with enough food to get you settled in. Please ask for information when booking. All rentals receive a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival.

Guestbook comments from the manager

-"We all agreed that the cottage was lovely, suited our family and will return"

-" the accommodation was clean and cosy."

-" Cottage was comfy. We all enjoyed WiFi (our son the most). Like the seaside theme, starfish, shells, lighthouses etc "

Best view in the world

We have been to Jervis Bay many times, first time staying at Callala Beach. The cottage is small but very comfortable, and clean, well provisioned, everything you would need. When you open the blinds, there is the beach and the Bay in all its glory, dolphins - yes, sea eagles - yes, whales - only 1 that we saw, bird life, noisy, colourful, always hungry!!!!! We did lots of walks, along the beach and to a lot of other walking tracks, found the Myola ferry that runs at the weekend and took that over to Huskisson, able to enjoy lunch in the Husky without worrying about driving. Since we last came Aldi and Woolworths are both on the main road, which is useful. Weather wasn't wonderful, but didn't keep us in. Very enjoyable all round

I live in the country and very rarely travel to the beach, this little beach shack has so much character and the owners have taken the time to put in beautiful towels comfy warm sheets and blankets, cant say enough good things about this stay and the views are so amazing.

I really didn't want to leave.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased to hear of your stay at Dolphincove. Thank you! We are trying to keep the fine balance between mods and coms and re-capturing the care free atmosphere of an Aussie beach holiday. We appreciate it when that is recognised.

This cottage had everything we needed for 3 people. Views of the ocean, bird life just perfect.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage had everything we needed. When something stopped working, a replacement came that day. We went out on a whale tour and saw 2 humpback whales one morning. Close up. While eating breakfast on Tuesday morning, watched the pod of dolphins that live in the bay, move up and down along the shore. Very comfortable, great walks in the area, good food, shopping, bird life. When warmer, the beach front is right in down the steps and we are on the beach.

Even in winter we found the tempertures warmer. So I would recommend this cottage and Callala Beach for a holiday at anytime.

Dolphincove - delightful...

  • 5 of 5

I have visited this street many hundreds of times in the past to stay with friends who owned a property on the other side of the street ; I recently had a minor back injury and wanted to escape to somewhere tranquil ; this is a heavenly place ; renovated just enough to create comfort without losing any of its bygone beachhouse feel - broad views, quiet, beach to yourself ; watched dolphins from off the beach & even saw the war ships over at Jervis bay doing manoevres in the distance ; best part is lying in bed listening to the sound of the waves on the beach ; two other people came along defraying the cost - all up this is great value for a wonderful place ; highly recommended for 1-4 people who want to
