Cottage in Callala Beach, NSW, Australia - Quiet Location, Easy Driving To Other Amenities
I live in Sydney with my wife and son. We have been coming to Callala Beach since 1993 and now are almost locals. We try and get down at least once a month and so keep a close watch on the property and its maintenance.
Gerald purchased this Cottage in 1994
Why Gerald chose Callala Beach
We stumbled on to Callala Beach after reading a magazine article. It took only the first visit for us to fall in love with the place. However, it took another year before we found Dolphincove - we named it after the dolphins that swim past the cottage most days. We love it for its quietness - truly a place to get off the grid. Ten people on this 5km beach is a crowd. Even in stormy weather, it is highly therapeutic to don a jacket and to go for a long stroll. When it is sunny, the water is crystal clear. Avoid getting frightened by your own shadow on the seabed like I did, that first weekend.
What makes this Cottage unique
Enjoy going to sleep and waking up to the sound of waves. The night air is so clear that you get an amazing view of the Milky Way. It's smaller size means that it is highly affordable for couples or small families and still be on the beach. Most other properties in the area are much larger. Although Callala Beach itself is very quiet, you are within easy driving distance to many amenities in the area. For overseas rentals, we are looking at stocking the fridge with enough food to get you settled in. Please ask for information when booking. All rentals receive a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
Gerald’s beach house was perfect for our weekend getaway. Such a fantastic location with beautiful views, we even saw dolphins. Everything was clean and the house is well stocked. Lots to do in the local area or like us just kick back enjoy this little slice of heaven.
Thank you Pauline. Great to hear of your stay. We are pleased that our dolphins did make an appearance - it always caps our visits. See you again!
Location, Location, Location!
Dolphin Cove is in the perfect spot. Literally right on the beach, and there are very few places which can say that, on a quiet street overlooking a beautiful bay with views out to the entrance and beyond to the open sea. Access to the beach is down a short set of private steps which lead directly onto the sand. The beach boasts white powdery sand which squeaks underfoot where it is dry and where the water reaches it is firm and smooth. A perfect spot for children and others who do not appreciate rough surf.
The house might look older from the outside but inside where it matters it has everything one needs for a relaxing holiday. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived and the kitchen has loads of cooking equipment plus glass ware and plates etc.The beds are very comfortable and the shower in the house delivers heaps of hot water. We enjoyed the provision of blankets along with the obligatory supply of doonahs. We didn't use the second shower which is in the laundry attached to the separate garage but have no reason to expect it was any different. There was also an outside shower to rinse off sand and salt before going inside. There was a large range of DVD's and books also if you ran out of reading matter. The BBQ was not under cover but with four burners and a single hot plate was large enough to cook up a storm.
About the only con we had was the lack of hanging space in the bedrooms but that apart we will happily return to enjoy the locality.
One last thing is the resident pod of dolphins does exist. From the front deck one morning we watched six or eight ducking and diving just beyond the line of waves and directly in front of the house. It was magic.
Trip down memory lane and views to die for.
If your grandparents had a small cottage on the beach. This is it! So much nostalgia but with modern plumbing. The views are spectacular and the water irresistible. We loved it and would definitely go again.
Amazing stay in an amazing location
Was a fantastic stay here at Dolphin Cove. There was all the supplies you needed provided for kitchen and bathroom. Bed very comfy and lounge room cosy. The location speaks for itself with its incredible view and quiet location. The extra drive into Husskisson is worth it for this beautiful beach. Look out for dolphins, hermit crabs and sting rays! We will definitely be back! Thank you for a week to remember!
Amazing beach house, great location, clean with some creature comforts. My son loved the place, dvds and board games.
Our favourite summer escape
Location and accommodation is perfect for our family. Been coming for years because we love it so much.
Thank you! We have a special appreciation for our regular guests who share the same love for holidaying at Dolphincove. It is a great place for building memories of holidays by the sea for children.
