Richard & Diana moved from the UK to Brittany over 10 years ago.
We are in our 50's and have been married for 34 years.
We have 3 children and moved to France for the pace and space.
Richard and Diana Edwards purchased this cottage in 2002
We fell in love with the area and especially the location by the river.
The property is very central for sight seeing or just relaxing with a book and a glass of wine.
The village of St Nicolas des Eaux is one of the most picturesque in Brittany offering restaurants and bars.
Lovely cottage and provides everything you could need for a relaxing or energising holiday. Real walking distance to the village and a great base to explore the area and region. Probably the best equipped French cottage we have rented - for adults and kids. Really enjoyed our stay and happy to recommend.
We've just returned from a week here with our two children.
The cottage was exactly as described. Plenty fro the kids to do with the pool and the play barn. Plenty of space to charge around and burn off energy.
Well coated to go visiting the local towns and close to lots of beeches.
We will be returning very soon
We've just spent at week at River Blavet Cottage and can't recommend it highly enough. The bikes, kayaks, pool table, dart board, table tennis and pool kept us entertained whilst the absolutely stunning surroundings were a joy when we sat out at night with that well earned glass of wine after the day's activities. It's a beautiful part of France but, to be honest, there was so much to do that we only left the cottage to refill the fridge or to wander the 10 minutes into Saint Nicolas - a very quiet village on the river but with a couple of really good family restaurants and bars. An excellent place for a family holiday as you can be as lazy or as energetic as you like (perfect combination for our energetic 11 year old and more laid-back 14 year old!). The owners live nearby and will be on hand should you need anything otherwise will leave you to enjoy a wonderful and relaxing holiday in the most tranquil of surroundings.
just back from a week in this cottage with wife daughter and three teenage grandchildren. As we know children of this age can get bored easily but not here,It has everything to keep them occupied, they loved the kayaking and spent a lot of time in the pool and fishing.the barn was a revelation with the pool, snooker and table tennis they loved everything about the facilities (happy kids happy mother and grandparents.rich and di were lovely hosts and were on hand if needed.I would highly reccomend this property to families for a relaxing stay.
We had the most fantastic stay as a family, the pool and table tennis table as facilities were the biggest hits. We loved walking beside the river, wandering into the centre of the village where we had the most fantastic paella. It's a shame the village doesn't have its own bakery but only a short drive away and the children loved asking for croissants and pain au chocolat at the boulangerie. The owner is lovely, great communication, very efficient. The property is completely as described so was absolutely brilliant, clean and well maintained. We also loved to eat out on the terrace next to the cottage and look down the garden to the river. We cannot recommend this property highly enough, it would suit a family or just a couple wishing to get away for some peace and quite.
This is a great property for both energetic and less active visitors. Outside the comfortable thoughtfully equipped cottage, the garden extending down to the river provides plenty of spots to sit and enjoy the peaceful surrounding sand/or the pool .We travelled as a couple but would love to return with our grandson who would enjoy the toys, bikes, kayaks and games, both indoors and outside.
It is an easy walk to the pretty village with its eateries and bars - one even serving locally brewed IPA for any non wine drinkers! The owners live nearby but keep a low profile unless called on for advice or recommendations.
We would not hesitate to recommend this holiday home and hope we can go back sometime
