High quality spacious self catering accommodation. The farmhouse & barn have been converted into luxury spacious accommodation - offering two adjacent properties with en-suite facilities - 6 bedrooms & 5 bathrooms. Large pool area with luxury 10 x 5m heated pool & a high quality conservatory pool cover. The pool is open and heated from mid May. Luxury 7 seater hot tub/jacuzzi.

Red Shutters is situated just 800 metres from the village of Cendrieux. 2012.

Red Shutters

Red Shutters is a house with adjoining barn dating back about 200/250 years. There are two separate properties, ideal for renting individually or together for larger groups. We are able to accommodate 10-12 people in total.

Rented together the House & Barn will sleep up to 12 adults, as one of the twin rooms in the barn has access to a further bedroom (in the roof space of the house), creating a family suite.

Excellent connectivity - up to 20MB broadband connection with WiFi & a good 3G mobile signal.

The House

The House sleeps 4 adults. Spread over 100 sq ms ( 1100 sq ft), it comprises:

Large kitchen dinner

Separate living room, with wood burning stove

Two large bedrooms, one will be kingsize - the other can either be set up as kingsize or twin. Both rooms have plenty of space for a children's bed / cot.

The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room, with shower & double sink. The second bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom, with a bath with shower over it - ideal for kids.

The entire living area will be situated on the ground floor, so ideal for those less able to manage the steep stairs that are often found in gites.

The Barn

The barn sleeps 6/8 adults. Spread over 200 sq ms (2000 sq ft), it comprises:

Huge open plan living space, with kitchen, dining room/space & living space - 75 sq ms (800 sq ft)

Three large bedrooms. All the rooms can be set up either as super kingsize or twin. The upstairs covers a generous 90 sq ms (1000 sq ft).

Master bedroom is huge & has plenty of space for a children's bed / cot. The master bathroom en-suite has both a bath & separate large shower.

Second bedroom - double or twin has an en-suite with a shower.

The third bedroom / family suite - the main bedroom can be set up as a double or twin. If both properties are being rented, it’s adjoining “Narnia” bedroom is accessed through the wardrobe. The en-suite has a bath with shower over it - ideal for children.


Luxury 10m x 5m swimming pool, with retractable conservatory style pool cover & heater. The pool is open 7 heated from mid May. Charcoal BBQ, loads of garden furniture.

There is a large 7 seater luxury hot tub.

Large mature gardens with the most spectacular view over the village & miles of beautiful countryside.

Set in established garden with many mature trees offering dappled shade. Stunning views from pool and terrace across rolling countryside. Situated to the north of Perigord Noir, the heart of the Dordogne.

New for 2015 - we now have a restaurant in the village - a short walk away (800 metres), so no need to drive

The property is minutes away from both the Dordogne and Vézère valleys. Alex & Alison the English owners live nearby (See our other property Ref 8006346).

About Alex & Alison Wright

We've been married over 25 years (how time flies when you're having fun). We moved to the area in 2003, after redundancy, in search of an "adventure" and to escape the City rat race. We've never looked back. We live here permanently, absolutely love the life and the area. So much so, that all our family now live in France within 45 minutes of us. None of us would even contemplate going back to the UK, it's great to visit, but for us, this is home. We went from being bankers to builders, creating the gites, to running our own business and love every day. We also love our free time during the winter, to go on holiday, whether it's cruising or diving or both. Or the odd building project for the family. Life is never dull and now we're doing it all over again.

Why Alex & Alison Wright chose Cendrieux

Alison wanted another project, but this is a bit bigger than we'd imagined. We're having to turn away & disappoint so many people, from our existing property (ref 8006346) that we've decided we'd better do it all over again. Welcome to “Gites with a pool 2" otherwise know as La Banne Nord or between us the more catchy title of "Red Shutters". The property is just 1km from our existing house. It is set in stunningly beautiful rolling countryside. It's incredibly peaceful, yet just minutes away from all the most popular tourist attractions. It's also within easy reach of the major towns - the regional capital Perigueux, Sarlat and Bergerac, very handy for the airport. Cendrieux is a working village, with lots happening throughout the year. We even have night markets in summer.

What makes this barn unique

Peace, tranquility, yet amazing facilities. We don't know anyone else who offers the same range for the same price; Fully equipped kitchens (we challenge you to find anything we have forgotten), heated and covered pool, hot tub/jacuzzi, plenty of bathrooms and very comfortable beds! The property is to the same high standards as our existing properties - where - this year 50% + of our guests are repeat visitors, some of whom booked 12 months ahead, before they'd even left. That says a massive amount about the holiday we offer. We provide a very personal service, if you want it. Booking Notes:
We have just been notified that from 1st January 2017 for the first time in our area, a tourist tax known as "tax de sejour" is being levied. This is already payable in most of France in all types of holiday accommodation from camp sites to 5* hotels and most of Europe. Bringing us in line with the rest of the Dordogne. The cost is €1.65 per adult (18 years and over) per day. It will be payable locally at the end of your stay. We cannot include it in our prices, as it is variable depending on the make up of your group and we have to account for it separately to the local tax authorities.

The properties can be rented individually or together - sleeping 4 & 6 or 12 when rented together.

Notes on accommodation: Smoking - In the interest of safety and the comfort of fellow / subsequent guests, we kindly request that you refrain from smoking inside the gite. Fire extinguisher in kitchen. Smoke alarms. Fans provided in each bedroom. Hairdryer in each bedroom. Full set of linen & towels are included + a full change for those staying more than a week. Outside: Luxury swimming pool - 10 x 5m, lit at night. Pool heater + a high quality conservatory pool cover, so that you can swim whatever the weather. Luxury 6/7 seater hot tub/jacuzzi. The cover rolls completely off the pool when not needed, or can be opened just at one end during cooler spells. The cover also provides 100% UVA and UVB protection. Whilst the pool cover complies with French legislation introduced January 2004, your safety remains your own responsibility and children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Lots of garden furniture, charcoal BBQs. Over 1/2 acre of established gardens for sole use by gite guests, with many mature trees offering plenty of dappled shade. Variety of fruit trees including cherry, plum, grape, fig.

Excellent property, setting and owners. Everything you need for a perfect holiday. Immaculate, comfortable and practical. Families can choose to explore the considerable area or just languish in pure peace and quiet. Definitely coming back.

This is a place we keep coming back to !! The barn is clean and beautifully finished with such great facilities, Alex and Alison are always on call and nothing seems too much to ask although they really have thought of everything you could need , table tennis,darts,bikes,child friendly heated pool with cover you can swim under if it rains, hot hub!!! 👌🏻English Tv, the list goes on and on. This is real luxury for budget prices in my opinion. Great value for money !!!

Red Shutters 2015 The Barn 2016

We stayed in Red Shutters in 2015 loved it so much we brought our family to stay in The Barn this year. It is just on the outskirts of a small village so is really peaceful, but is in easy reach of all attractions most places to visit are under an hours drive away.

The property was clean and very well equipped and the owners were on hand to help if we had any problems or if we needed more information on local attractions.

I would have no problem recommending either property to family and friends

Fantastic Barn

This is the second time we have enjoyed Red Shutters! The location is very peaceful, and the facilities excellent. Making the booking is very simple and Alison & Alex are very helpful. On arrival the Barn and house more than match the pictures. A great place to visit, particularly for larger groups of family or friends.
