We've been married over 20 years (how time flies when you're having fun). We moved to the area in 2003, after redundancy, in search of an "adventure" and to escape the City rat race. We've never looked back. We live here permanently, absolutely love the life and the area. So much so, that all our family now live in France within 45 minutes of us. None of us would even contemplate going back to the UK, it's great to visit, but for us, this is home. We went from being bankers to builders, creating the gites, to running our own business and love every day. We also love our free time during the winter, to go on holiday, whether it's cruising or diving or both. Or the odd building project for the family. Life is never dull and now we're doing it all over again.
Alex & Alison Wright purchased this farmhouse in 2010
Alison wanted another project, but this is a bit bigger than we'd imagined. We're having to turn away & disappoint so many people, from our existing property (ref 8006346) that we've decided we'd better do it all over again. Welcome to “Gites with a pool 2" otherwise know as La Banne Nord or between us the more catchy title of "Red Shutters". The property is just 1km from our existing house. It is set in stunningly beautiful rolling countryside. It's incredibly peaceful, yet just minutes away from all the most popular tourist attractions. It's also within easy reach of the major towns - the regional capital Perigueux, Sarlat and Bergerac, very handy for the airport. Cendrieux is a working village, with lots happening throughout the year. We even have night markets in summer.
Peace, tranquility, yet amazing facilities. We don't know anyone else who offers the same range for the same price; Fully equipped kitchens (we challenge you to find anything we have forgotten), heated and covered pool, hot tub/jacuzzi, plenty of bathrooms and very comfortable beds! The property is to the same high standards as our existing properties - where - this year 50% + of our guests are repeat visitors, some of whom booked 12 months ahead, before they'd even left. That says a massive amount about the holiday we offer. We provide a very personal service, if you want it. Recommending restaurants (and booking them), places to visit - how to make the most of your stay. We promise you won't be disappointed.
Our first guests:
July 2012. Where do we start ? Everything from arrival to departure was perfect. Our welcome was so friendly & considering the late arrival wasn’t hurried & was very detailed. The gite was perfect - plenty of room for all & renovated to an incredibly high standard. We loved the pool & hottub, not to mention the Narnia room & disco shower. We made good use of the BBQ & bikes. Throughout our stay Alison & Alex were only too ready to help, suggest & advise us on anything we wanted to know without being intrusive.
John & Sarah, Peterborough
July 2012. Just to say a massive thank you for such a wonderful holiday, we all agreed it was our best family holiday ever. We feel this was all due to your wholehearted effort & friendship.

What a fantastic holiday. A superb house & great people. Nothing seemed too much trouble (whether booking tables or pointing us towards great sites.
Hope to see you again soon.

The Barn was beautiful, the stay was wonderfully relaxing. Ideally placed in the centre of the Bergerac / Sarlat / Perigueux triangle. Thank you for the warm welcome!
Stayed in the farmhouse for 1 week. Very comfortable house and well equipped including good wireless broadband.
Excellent outdoor facilities including heated pool, hot tub, loungers and outdoor seating. Separate Barn with lots to keep entertained including bikes, boules, darts, table tennis etc. Road passing the house very quiet with only one or two passing cars a day.
Great village. Nice and quiet but with local shop and restaurant. Easy access to le bugue, Bergerac and perigeux as well as all the bastides and Sarlat.
Alex and Alison excellent hosts and full of good recommendations for days out, places to eat or local vineyards.
My daughter and I stayed in Red Shutters House for a week. It has been beautifully renovated and very tastefully decorated - it's also the most well-equipped holiday home I've stayed in for a very long time. The village of Cendrieux is very attractive and has a bar/restaurant and shop and plenty of history (look up the Resistance camp in the forest). Alison and Alex are very accommodating and easy to get hold of if you need anything. Great base for touring the area and browsing the markets in Le Bugue and St Cyprien. We hope to be back. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Red Shutters has been wonderfully converted to a warm, comfortable, extremely well equipped holiday home. The place, along with a heated swimming pool, fabulous hot tub and ample outdoor space left us wanting more. The welcome we received from the owners helped us to feel relaxed and ready to have fun which we certainly did!
Our second visit to this lovely property.
Comfortable to stay in, great space in kitchen and lounge, 2 lovely bathrooms, comfortable beds and a fantastic outside space with warm pool, plenty of loungers.
A great holiday place and Alex and Alison helpful and kind.
