The home is comprised of all 3 levels (a rarity) of the 18th cent. property plus 2 terraces and is larger than most townhomes for rent in Ostuni. The house is historical, yet modern and romantic. The ground level is fully tiled and includes a futon or bed (depending on sleeping requirements) & 1 bathroom with a large shower area. There is also a large wardrobe for storage, and a washing machine with drying rack. On the 1st level, the lounge, with original flooring and exposed stone ceiling, includes a sofa/chaise, a leather chair and entertainment center. Off the lounge is the master bedroom, with “matrimonial” (queen/double) sized bed, 2nd bedroom with closet and drawers and the 2nd bathroom. The 2nd level has star vaulted ceilings and includes a large well-equipped kitchen and dining area for 6. The kitchen leads out to the terraces which offer 2 alfresco dining areas, grill and a sofa/lounge area offering spectacular views of the sea, cathedral and centro storico. The views of the town illuminated at night are stunning.

Great location in heart of Ostuni
A well appointed and located property. The accommodation can take up to five persons but is better suited to two, as we were.
We were unfortunate with the weather, 12 -19 May and the locals said that it was unseasonably cold and wet. However the Adriatic beaches are only a short drive away.
Free car parking was possible but required some scouting out. In the high season this could be a problem
Ostuni is a very beautiful place, lots of alleyways and historical buildings, we loved exploring. The surrounding area is well worth visiting. Casa Josephina, what a lovely town house, in an ideal position to explore Ostuni. The terraces were wonderful and the view spectacular...we had a thunderstorm and watched the lightening from the terrace, magnificent! Gary and Sonia who met us at the house we’re fabulous and very helpful. Paul and Debbie have a lovely home, well worth a visit.
Lovely little house in a great part of Ostuni
The house is nicely restored and located in a good part of town, near the centre but not right next to the touristed streets up to the cathedral. Near cafes, a park, a bakery and a food co-op; the main street and (in the opposite direction) the old town are each about 10 mins walk. In recent years Ostuni has acquired a major ex-pat community; one can join in or avoid it, as preferred.
In the house, the two roof terraces, kitchen/diner, main room and bedrooms off the the main room were all great for two of us, and would be great for a familly, although the street level room didn't really suit a visiting adult. Fast wifi and washing machine a plus too. The stairs are steep and the shower room pretty small, but that is to be expected in an old house.
First class property in Ostuni
This was our second stay at Casa Josephina. It really is a place which makes you want to return. Everything works smoothly at arrival and departure. Comfortable, genuine place with a wonderful view over Ostuni and the sea from the roof terrace. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Puglia/Salento region. Great location in the city centre.
Best place to stay in Ostuni!
We absolutely loved Casa Josefina.
Situated in the old town, so close to all the local shops, bakeries, amenities and park etc.
4 minutes walk to the Centro Storico with all the tourist attractions, restaurants, shops and night life etc.
We visited lots of the wonderful surrounding area, towns and beaches.
The house is very well equipped with everything you need.
Stairs are steep - but that is made perfectly clear in the online info.
Wifi was excellent, which was particularly good for us, as on holiday with teenage daughter!
The terraces are absolutely lovely, the views amazing, we spent lots of time eating, drinking, reading, soaking up the sun, looking at the view, esp late at night.
Pauline was lovely and a great manager.
Really hope to return soon.
Beautiful old Ostuni house
We had a fabulous time in Ostuni. The house was comfortable, had all we needed, beautiful view of Ostuni from the roof terrace. It is priceless to experience living in 18th century house. Location is also great, easy access to shops and stunning beaches. The owners were helpful and flexible to our needs. It is highly recommended. Thank you
Coast/Beach: Ostuni is blessed with many nearby beaches, inlcuding many blue flag beaches. You can find whatever type of beach you desire, from the secluded Torre Guaceto (30 min drive), a WWF protected nature preserve, to those equipped with sunchairs, restaurants, cafes and bars like Pilone I & II (10-15 minute drive) and everything in between. The closest beach is less than 10 minute drive from the property. Travel: Airports - Brindisi (BDS) - 25 min., Bari (BRI) - 50 min., Naples (NAP) 3.5 hr., Rome (FCO, CIA) 5.5 hr. drive. Train - International and national destinations via the Ostuni Railway station (3km drive). Ferry - Ferry service to Greece, Croatia, northern Italy and elsewhere is available in Brindisi and Bari Car - Taxi and car hire are available from railway station and BDS/BRI airports . Private transfer from airports available upon request at additional charge. Distances: Nearby towns & drive times: Polignano a Mare (30 min) – Seaside cliff town. Great dining on the cliffs. Martina Franca (35 min)– Baroque masterpiece with excellent shops. Nice countryside drive dotted with masseria and trulli. Alberobello (35 min) – Trulli town! Bari – (50 min) A bustling city with shopping ranging from famous Italian designers to IKEA. Lecce – (60 min) Known as "The Florence of the South". Great baroque architecture, shopping, restaurants and bars. A must see day trip! Further Details: Ostuni is known as The White City (La Citta Bianca) due to its stunning whitewashed buildings. It is located on a hilltop 8km from the sea. With nothing but olive and grapes between it and the sea, it offers panoramic views of the Adriatic, easy access to local beaches, a very walkable city with many high-quality/low priced restaurants/bars and historic sights, and easy access to most of Puglia and its surrounding areas. The people are friendly and helpful and an English-speaker can always be found nearby. In Ostuni, and Puglia, you can enjoy a very low cost of vacationing. Food and wine prices, as well as lodging, can easily be 1/3rd of what you will find in Rome or Florence. An antipasti lunch for 2 can be purchased for around €6. A dinner for 2 at a fine local restaurant, including wine, starts at under €20. You can have a container filled with your choice of wine at a local winery for €1 to €2 per litre (after tasting them all, of course!). The Centro Storico of Ostuni offers winding stone alleys, terrific architecture as well as local boutiques, shops and eateries. Shop to 3am during summer months. Find a local pizzeria or visit a Michelin rated restaurant or anything in between. Grab a pint of Guinness at a pub or visit Riccardo Caffé for the latest club-style music and drinks. The Centro Storico is the place to be. The Saturday market is not to be missed, offering everything from fruits, vegetables, cheese, meat and seafood to clothing and household goods. Churches within the city are on the list of proposed UNESCO World Heritage sites and the city and Centro Storico are lined with historical and architectural gems. There festivals held throughout the year at the Public Garden/Park as well as Piazza Liberta, culminating in La Cavalcata di Sant'Oronzo in late August. Besides all there is to do and see within the town, its central location within Puglia makes it the ideal home base for seeing all of Puglia and nearby provinces.
