Guestbook comments from the owner

See "Casa Josephina Ostuni" on TripAdvisor for complete reviews of excerpts below (and more). Casa Josephina has been rated 5 of 5 by all guests!

May 9, 2012 - “Great place to stay to explore Puglia!” We really enjoyed our stay here. The property was very nicely presented and had all the facilities etc that were necessary. It also has a roof terrace which looks out over the town.

It is situated within a five minute walk to the town centre and there is free parking around the park nearby, which we did not have a problem with despite the Easter festivals.

There are many attractions and towns to visit nearby, although a car is probably necessary for most of these.

Communication with the owners was very good and they responded promptly to any of our questions. Overall rating = 5 out of 5.

April 19, 2012 - “Charming Puglia residence” . Three floor apt near old Ostuni. Great location for day trips all over Puglia. Wonderful rooftop views. Overall rating = 5 out of 5.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Casa Josephina a perfect example of Ostuni living, and offers plenty of space to enjoy your time here, both inside and out. The house was redecorated and refurnished in 2012. The character of the home was maintained while the furnishings and entertainment options were modernized. The stone architecture is magnificent and also helps keep the home cool in the summer. That being said, heating and air-conditioning is also available. The stairways are large by Ostuni standards, and unlike many Ostuni properties, most people won't have problems with head-bumping, the stairs may be steep for some. Based on that, the property is not recommended to those that have trouble going up/down flights of stairs. Also based on the stairs/terraces, the house is not recommended for those with toddlers. Casa Josephina is a non-smoking property. Outside: The lower level terrace is accessible from the kitchen (believe me when I say this is very handy) and includes a dining area for 6 and a large umbrella for times when shade is desired. Stairs lead to the upper terrace with a sofa/lounge area, and additional seating, offering spectacular panoramic views of the sea, cathedral and centro storico. The views of the town illuminated in the evening are especially stunning. The terraces are flat and tiled. There is a gas BBQ grill available. Utility Room: Ground Floor/Garage - The clothes washer is located here. Abundant storage space is available here for empty suitacases and belongings, which is a great way to free up valuable living space. A 2nd sofa bed, seating and bath are also located on this floor. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Cleaning, as well as high-quality linens and towels are included. Beach towels are also provided.

First class property in Ostuni

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Casa Josephina. It really is a place which makes you want to return. Everything works smoothly at arrival and departure. Comfortable, genuine place with a wonderful view over Ostuni and the sea from the roof terrace. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Puglia/Salento region. Great location in the city centre.

Best place to stay in Ostuni!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved Casa Josefina.

Situated in the old town, so close to all the local shops, bakeries, amenities and park etc.

4 minutes walk to the Centro Storico with all the tourist attractions, restaurants, shops and night life etc.

We visited lots of the wonderful surrounding area, towns and beaches.

The house is very well equipped with everything you need.

Stairs are steep - but that is made perfectly clear in the online info.

Wifi was excellent, which was particularly good for us, as on holiday with teenage daughter!

The terraces are absolutely lovely, the views amazing, we spent lots of time eating, drinking, reading, soaking up the sun, looking at the view, esp late at night.

Pauline was lovely and a great manager.

Really hope to return soon.

Wonderful house in a great location handy for everything. the pictures don't do it justice it really is a great mix of traditional meets modern. the roof top terrace is superb with great views and tranquility.

barely 10 minutes walk and you can be in the middle of the old town (beautiful) equally the same time (opposite direction) to the middle of the new town. don't just read about it if this is the area you want to go to, this the house to stay in. many places around to visit

Amazing Stay at Casa Josephina

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Josephina for 2 nights in July, and the only problem was that we wished we could have stayed longer. The property has everything you could ever need for a comfortable stay. The house still retains its old world charm with tile floors, chandeliers, and stone ceilings, while having all modern amenities. It is in the perfect location – a 5 minute walk to the main square where you can find all the shops and restaurants, and a 5 minute walk to the park where you can enjoy the greenery and have a coffee. The house has 2 outdoor terraces which are amazing. We enjoyed our morning coffee and lunch on the lower terrace, while we had a glass of wine on the upper terrace while enjoying the views of the entire town and the sea. The owners were a pleasure to deal with. Our security deposit was promptly refunded. We will definitely be back!

An excellent 18th Century Town House

  • 5 of 5

A large 3 storey town house plus 2 good size roof terraces. 2 shower/toilet facilities, one small shower room but a larger shower in the basement. Kitchen complete with fridge and small freezer compartment, microwave, gas hob, plenty of utensils, large gas bbq, washing machine and hairdryer. A good supply of fresh towels, bedlinen and beach towels. The property was clean, nice decor and well maintained. The stairs are narrow and the steps are deep. When booking Paul & Debbie was excellent with a quick response to our enquiry and with a full in depth information pack on the property, places to eat and visit. This property is excellent if you are looking for a relaxing holiday and wish to explore the wonderful city of Ostuni and the beautiful region of Puglia. We will defiantly be returning. Thank your Paul & Debbie for sharing your delightful apartment.

Further Details:

Ostuni is known as The White City (La Citta Bianca) due to its stunning whitewashed buildings. It is located on a hilltop 8km from the sea. With nothing but olive and grapes between it and the sea, it offers panoramic views of the Adriatic, easy access to local beaches, a very walkable city with many high-quality/low priced restaurants/bars and historic sights, and easy access to most of Puglia and its surrounding areas.

The people are friendly and helpful and an English-speaker can always be found nearby. In Ostuni, and Puglia, you can enjoy a very low cost of vacationing. Food and wine prices, as well as lodging, can easily be 1/3rd of what you will find in Rome or Florence. An antipasti lunch for 2 can be purchased for around €6. A dinner for 2 at a fine local restaurant, including wine, starts at under €20. You can have a container filled with your choice of wine at a local winery for €1 to €2 per litre (after tasting them all, of course!).

The Centro Storico of Ostuni offers winding stone alleys, terrific architecture as well as local boutiques, shops and eateries. Shop to 3am during summer months. Find a local pizzeria or visit a Michelin rated restaurant or anything in between. Grab a pint of Guinness at a pub or visit Riccardo Caffé for the latest club-style music and drinks. The Centro Storico is the place to be.

The Saturday market is not to be missed, offering everything from fruits, vegetables, cheese, meat and seafood to clothing and household goods.

Churches within the city are on the list of proposed UNESCO World Heritage sites and the city and Centro Storico are lined with historical and architectural gems.

There festivals held throughout the year at the Public Garden/Park as well as Piazza Liberta, culminating in La Cavalcata di Sant'Oronzo in late August.

Besides all there is to do and see within the town, its central location within Puglia makes it the ideal home base for seeing all of Puglia and nearby provinces.
