Detached House in Rodwell, Weymouth, Nr. Jurassic Coast.Dorset, England - Quiet, Residential Location With Small Local Sandy Beaches A Short Walk Away
Seaview is a spacious detached house in a quiet cul de sac, with a private enclosed rear garden which is ideal for safe outdoor play for children and dogs alike. It is approximately 1 mile from the centre of Weymouth and its excellent beach and harbour, and has superb views towards Portland, Chesil Beach and the Jurassic Coast. Weymouth and Portland hosted the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Sailing events, and Seaview hosted the Finnish team! With a large kitchen, 4+ bedrooms and 3 living areas, there is ample room for large families or parties. Children are welcome; we have a high chair and 'pop up' stair gate available for use in the house. Several of the bedrooms will accommodate your own travel cots if needs be. Responsible dog owners (and their dogs!) are also welcome, though we do insist that dogs should be kept off of the beds at all times please, and that we are made aware when you make the booking, of your intention to bring your canine friend/s with you! There is plenty of opportunity close by, for walking (human!), dog walking, cycling, sea swimming/paddling, water sports, scenic meandering and relaxing. The small local beaches are also within easy walking distance.

About Sue and Noel Stubbs
My wife and I live in the wonderful seaside town of Weymouth, where we both grew up. Weymouth combines a traditional seaside atmosphere and bustling working harbour area with some excellent bars and restaurants. Weymouth is a top class sailing location, having hosted tall ships races in the past, and the Olympic Sailing events in 2012. The National Sailing Centre is around 2 miles from the house, and underlines Weymouth's maritime attractions, which include diving, windsurfing and kite surfing as well as one of the UK's finest beaches.

My close family and friends stayed at Sea view for 3 nights commencing 23/02/18. The group consisted of a 77 year old, 5 middle ages, couple of 20 year olds and four lads between 12 and 16. Everyone in the group loved the house. Oh yes and the dog Harvey. The photos do not do it justice. It is spacious but yet cosy warm and extremely clean, décor is lovely. You have everything you need. The garden is amazing but due to the cold weather we could not enjoy it.
We visited the Olympic rings, Chisel beach, the boys loved it, it was so nice seeing them be young lads and being silly and playing games, instead with the heads over laptops. Although in the house they did spend time on their laptops, and they brought their xbox and small tv. We also went to Portland bill and Lulworth cove. On Sue's recommendation, we went out to dinner on Saturday evening to an Italian called Enzo's, the food and atmosphere was superb. The walk in to town took us about 30 mins. We all an absolutely brilliant time. Back to the house, the sea views are smashing, and its great to have three toilets to use. Sue and Noel live next door but you would not know, it was nice to know that if we did need anything we could go to them, however there is everything you need, house manual with all information needed. This property is value for money and smashing. All the family want to go back, I was raving about it to my work colleagues and three of them took the details. Sue and Noel thank you so very much for hiring you house out, it made our weekend.
Well, Rachel - what can I say, but thank you so much for your lovely review of your recent weekend at Seaview :-) So pleased to hear that you found the house to everyone's liking - but also that you managed to get out and about to explore our lovely part of the county of Dorset. We're very lucky to have such great scenery and beautiful places to visit within a few miles of Seaview. Portland Bill is always worth a visit, whatever the weather, and great for dog-walking too...and we actually went to Lulworth Cove ourselves last weekend with our 2 year old grandson, who thoroughly enjoyed himself, despite the rather chilly February weather! Pleased to hear that Enzo's on the Weymouth Esplanade didn't disappoint either! Hope to see you all again sometime - and thank you again for taking the trouble to submit a review for us. Sue :-)
The house was amazing . So much space for 6 adults , 3 young children and 2 dogs...
The house was very well equipped .. The bedrooms were very spacious and clean, lovely big beds and plenty of storage for clothes.. lovely views of the sea( when not foggy or raining) it was like home from home with everything needed..
Brilliant, our hosts had thought of everything.
Fabulous place with everything you need, top marks all round.
Fantastic house for a large family or group of friends.
We stayed here as a family to remember our daughter who had died in January the year previous. We arrived at 5pm to find the house warm and with welcoming lights on.We were delighted with the overall ambience and the special touch of bottles of wine. The sofas were very comfortable and there was room for everyone to relax. Puzzles and books great for the youngsters. The pictures were fantastic and testament to Sue's love of photography...most impressive! The kitchen was so well equipped and cooking for 12 was a pleasure here. Beds beautifully made and comfortable. Congratulations to the housekeepers. Lovely garden which would be great if staying here during the summer months also the proximity to the Rodwell trail. Sue was so very helpful prior to our visit and nothing seemed too much trouble.....Thank you Sue...sorry not to have met you in person. We would have no hesitation in recommending Seaview ....that's of course if you can find a vacant slot on the calendar!!!
Thank you Celia for the lovely review of your stay at Seaview last month. We are just so pleased that it proved to be a suitable venue for you and the family to get together for your very special commemoration. Happy to hear also that you were able to enjoy everything we can offer at Seaview; we do always try to make guests feel welcome, and as comfortable as if they were at home! Of course, everyone's tastes differ, but I'll certainly make sure that Lisa knows her housekeeping has been much appreciated by yourselves :-) Thank you again Celia, Sue.
Absolutely perfect property!
The property is amazing! Very spacious yet feels so cosy too. The attention to detail is outstanding, everything has been thought of. We stayed over Christmas and the owners decorated the house beautifully. A great location too for Weymouth and the Rodwell Trail only five minutes away is perfect for dog walks with stunning views. Can't recommend this property enough.
Many thanks to the Mattock family for your speedy and lovely review of your Christmas 2017 week spent at Seaview, our holiday rental house in Weymouth. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay over the festive period, and that you were able to make good use of the nearby Rodwell Trail, which for some part follows the shoreline of Portland Harbour, making it ideal for dog-walkers, safe and off-road meandering, cyclists etc. Many thanks for your recommendation; we appreciate it ...and Happy New Year 2018 to you and your family! Sue and Noel
The house was just perfect for our family of 12. There was so much room for individuals to have some space plus there was the garden. The house was spotlessly clean with everything that you possibly needed for your stay. The location was ideal for walking along the public footpath into Weymouth and Portland. Highly recommended.
Thank you Peggy for your lovely review of your weekend at Seaview. It's always great to hear when guests have enjoyed their stay, particularly when they've managed to get out and about as well...even in late November! The Rodwell Trail which you refer to is very handy for walkers, bike riders, dog walkers or family meanders into Weymouth away from the busy roads; very pleased that you tried this route :-) Lovely views along there as well. As you clearly found out, there should be plenty of space for most large families at Seaview, with or without the addition of family dogs, and we're very pleased that you had plenty of room for the young and the 'little bit older' members of the family too! Lisa is our housekeeper, and has been for years, and she takes great pride in keeping Seaview as clean as is possible between guests. Many thanks Peggy - and Happy Christmas to you all :-)
Coast/Beach: The nearest local sandy beaches along the edge of Portland Harbour are within a 10 minute walk. The large, scenic, main Weymouth beach is a 20/25 minute walk from the house, or a short drive. This beach has a long, wide expanse of very soft, light and clean sand. At the far end, (in the Greenhill area) the beach is covered with pebbles mostly. Dogs are allowed with their owners along the whole of Weymouth beach from October/April generally. However, they are confined to one area May/September. Travel: Bournemouth and Exeter are the nearest airports. Trains run regularly to a variety of destinations to and from Weymouth Station. There is an excellent bus service running along the length of the scenic Jurassic Coast, which is very popular with both locals and visitors. There is also a very busy coach trips business based in Weymouth. Of course, there is also a local bus service running frequently, covering Weymouth, Portland, Dorchester etc. Try the 'open-top' bus Weymouth/Portland Bill! Distances: Weymouth Harbour...1 mile, 15/20 min walk Abbotsbury - Village, Swannery and Sub-Tropical Gardens ...9.5 miles, 25mins drive Lyme Regis.....28 miles, 1 hour's drive Further Details: This is an ideal area if you are interested in water sports/activities. Thanks to the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, we now have the National Sailing Academy nearby, as well as a water sports facility 5 minutes walk away. Windsurfing/kite surfing are also very popular in our area. There are of course, local sandy beaches for children/adults as well as the main Weymouth Beach with it's many facilities/activities on offer. There is plenty of countryside to explore surrounding the Weymouth area, especially if you are willing to drive short distances and walk when you get there! Places such as Abbotsbury Swannery (30/40 minute drive) and Hardy Monument amongst others, are always a pleasure to visit. Portland Bill is also a fantastic place, with or without dogs to walk. There are also plenty of walking opportunities just on leaving 'Seaview' itself, and either heading in the direction of Portland......or Weymouth town; either way, a good proportion of the journey can be completed away from any roads or traffic, which HAS to be a good thing! There is information online about the 'Rodwell Trail', which can be accessed very close by. Weymouth has no shortage of good restaurants (all budgets/types), pubs, clubs etc, many of which are around the harbour area. Many have outdoor seating especially in the warmer months, which often makes the harbour a lively, colourful place to be. Weymouth Harbour is also a very busy place early in the mornings, with fishing boats landing their catches daily. Asda is the nearest large supermarket to 'Seaview', but there are also others available in the Weymouth area, including Tesco (Portland), Morrisons and Sainsburys.
Rates & Availability
Additional information about rental rates
Booking Notes: Please enquire personally regarding rates for periods of less than 7 nights at Seaview. The automatically generated rates on the site may well be incorrect, as we take several factors into consideration when arriving at a customised quote; it's not just a matter of taking a rate and multiplying it by the number of nights - so please ask. 25% as an initial non refundable payment, and the remainder due 6 weeks before the period of renting. We prefer internet bank transfers as method of payment because it is quick and reliable, but we are also happy to take cheques. We are NOT able to accept card payments or PayPal payments. On receipt of the deposit, you will receive the booking confirmation by email. It would be appreciated if you could check our up-to-date availability calendar and pricing before getting in touch. Thank you. Changeover Day: Usually changeover day would be Saturday, although we are very flexible with this. We do take bookings other than for weekly periods. Please ask for a quote. Arrival time would be after 4pm and departure time by 10am. Notes on prices: We have recently reviewed our prices and these are now current for 2016 and 2017! Seaview is a very versatile house, and can be enjoyed by a couple as much as by a party of 12! We can quote for weekend/short stays at any time of the year if requested. As a guideline, a 3-night Friday - Monday weekend stay could cost slightly more than half the cost of a week in the same period. There are no additional fuel charges - all is included in the price quoted.
