Family or large group villa nr Estepona, Marbella, Puerto Banus Costa del Sol Spain. The Perfect Location, own pool, 2 Mins stroll To Lovely Beach, Easy Walk Nightlife/Foods
Pluma Piedra is spacious and contemporary, recently refurbished (2012) to a very high specification. It has full air-con/heating throughout, open-plan lounge, leather sofas, traditional log fire. The wall-mounted flat-screen TV has SKY, and there is a DVD player, WiFi throughout the house, ipod docking station and even a gate intercom so you can open the gate without leaving the home! The shaded verandah has dining and lounge area, There is a large, mobile BBQ & a table tennis table on the lawns of the large private garden. This is a great location for family groups because there is a lot of space, the Villa is close to the beach and there is a large pool which will accommodate a family game of Water Polo!
The state-of-the-art kitchen has built-in induction hob, fan oven, warming draw and microwave, complemented by twin, full-size American-style fridges, dishwasher and large larder cupboard. The interior dining room and table is an extension of the Kitchen and therefore forms one of the social hubs of the villa.
The patio runs the length of the villa with access from inside as well via double doors in two of the bedrooms and large, fold-back doors in the lounge. With these doors are opened fully and folded back, the lounge and patio become one big room which forms the second social hub of the Villa! Guests meet here for 'sundowners'!
There is something for everybody here - fashionable Marbella and Puerto Banus, historic, quaint Estepona, many golf courses nearby, skiing just 2 hours in Sierra Nevadas; many activities locally including kite-surfing, Selwo Animal Park, Cable Ski, Tivoli Theme Park. Alternatively, you can just relax by the pool on our comfy, adjustable sun loungers, or stroll down to the beach, have a drink and tapas at 'Pepe's' or walk along the shore to the point and watch the kite surfers. You may be lucky and see dolphins in the bay. Volley Ball takes place on the beach every afternoon during June, July and August and it is a 'free-for-all - anyone can stand on the side lines and all the players, local and tourists, are very friendly and will ask you if you want to join in. Young and old take part and it is a lot of fun - and noisy!
The bus service in the area is regular and reliable and the nearest bus stop is only 2 minutes walk from the Villa. We often take the bus to the markets in San Pedro, Marbella, Puerto Banus or Estepona as it is easier than finding parking sometimes. The massive benefits of the location of the villa is that it is walking distance to most amenities, beach, beach bars, restaurants, shops, minimarket, supermarket, newsagents, etc. Everything you need within easy walking and yet the villa itself is in a small, exclusive collection of villas which is so quiet and peaceful - the best of both worlds - and no need to get in a car at all during your holiday!

About Rebecca Kirkwood
The Villa has been owned by our family for over 40 years and we have had numerous fun and happy holidays there over the years. We have taken friends and family and everyone falls in love with it. The fact that it is right by the sea as well as having a pool means that all the guests can be independent and come and go as they please. We all use the Villa throughout the year and rent it to others so that they can enjoy it too. We completed a full refurbishment in February 2012 so it is now fully modernised with contemporary decor, internet, WiFi, Sky. The fab pool can be heated all year round and has a removable, security fence if you request it. It makes a superb winter destination too as there is an indoor children's play area within walking distance if you want a change from the pool!
Rebecca Kirkwood purchased this Villa in 1970
Why Rebecca Kirkwood chose Estepona
Living in N Ireland, my parents wanted to buy somewhere in the sun! The Costa del Sol has over 300 days of sun a year & has lovely beaches so was the obvious place to buy. They bought a large Villa right by the sea which had supermarket, banks, coffee shops, beach bars, restaurants and nightclubs all close by so that car hire was not necessary. They were also attracted by the many & varied golf courses in the area. This Villa has the best of both worlds. It is in a small, exclusive, private, residential area with a large mature garden yet it is walking distance to all the nightlife if you seek it. If you want to venture further, a regular, efficient bus service at the head of the estate will take you to San Pedro & Marbella less than 10 mins to the east & Estepona less than 7 mins to west.

Fantastic week at Pluma Piedra
Just spent May half term at Pluma Piedra with hubby and three children ages 12, 9 and 7 and had the most fantastic time. Right from the start Becky the owner was extremely helpful and the communication was excellent all the way through.
The villa itself was great. The photos on the site really do not do it justice. It has everything that you could possibly need. The living area is large and spacious and all bedrooms have en suite. The outdoor eating area is lovely and there is even an outdoor toilet and shower room to avoid the kids running through the villa to use the bathroom when wet from the pool. The garden and pool area is beautiful and well maintained. My children had so much fun in the pool and the floats and diving board kept them entertained all week.
The location was fantastic. The gorgeous beach is only a few minutes walk away and there are a few beach restaurants where we ate on a couple of the nights. Very nice.
There are supermarkets about a 10 minute walk away and even closer still is a 24 hr garage which supplies the essentials. Bus stop is right there too which was really handy.
We ate at both the Mexican and Italian near the main road and they were both very good.
If you're after a villa in a lovely location, close to the beach which really feel like home from home then book Pluma Piedra. We will definitely be back.
Helen and family xxx
Helen - thanks for going to the trouble of writing such a detailed description of your happy, family holiday at Pluma Piedra. Your review really gives potential guests a flavour of what it is like there - and you certaily lived life to the full during your visit! You seemed to have visited many of the bars and restaurants close by, used the 24 hour garage, bus stop and supermarkets and your children were entertained all day long in the pool, it seems! Bliss! I do hope you will return soon and then your children (and you?!) can perfect diving techniques and styles!
Great villa in a good location. The heated pool was a hit with the kids!
The villa was spacious, clean and had all mod cons. Very helpful owner who provided maps and information for the local area. The garden and pool area were lovely. A two minute walk to the beach, you have Pepe’s a great beach bar & restaurant. You can easily take a bus north or south along the coast to all the major towns and sights. Very well located for our holiday.
A beautiful holiday home
We had a fantastic week at Pluma Piedra. The house itself had absolutely everything we needed. The bedrooms are spacious and have really nice ensuites, the lounge and kitchen/diner are modern and comfortable and the teenagers loved the super fast broadband. The garden is beautifully appointed with plenty of seating and sun beds and a really nice large pool.
The location is fantastic with the beach a couple of minutes walk away and shops, bars and cafe not much further. We used the house as a base to explore the area and it was ideally located with lots of places easily accessible.
Becky, the owner is amazing. We swapped several emails as she provided advice on the house and the area. She was fantastic, giving invaluable help and nothing seemed too much trouble.
We had a party of 9 ranging from 13 to 77 and everyone loved the place, our only complaint was that we didn’t book longer.
I think you and your family really got the most out of it all - you certainly lived life to the full when there! I am glad we pleased the teenagers too - not always easy to make them happy! In my book, Happy Teenagers = Happy Holiday.
It has been a pleasure having you all, Paul, and thank you for taking the time out to write such a comprehensive and glowing review. We really hope you will come back - we look forward to it. Best wishes for a sunny summer in the UK!
Nice stay in a beautiful house
We had a wonderful holiday in this house and enjoyed it a lot. Becky offered us the pool heating and we were glad that we took the offer, it wasn't expensive at all. And...the water was warm and we enjoyed it every morning for swimming.
I think if you go with 5 couples you should know that 1 bathroom is to share and the 5th bathroom is outside. next to the pool. For us not a problem at all, but maybe important for others.
Everything was clean when we arrived and towels were prepared as well.
The kitchen is well equipped and with the 2 fridges we had enough space to store all food and drinks.
Thanks a lot Becky for the nice stay at your house and it was nice to get to know you.
I am glad you had such a good time with all your family, Ina and that the weather was continuously warm and sunny for you. It is lovely to hear you enjoyed the pool so much - we are lucky to have a very powerful pool heater that can heat the water even through the coolest of night time temperatures.
I understand the shared bathroom is not ideal for everyone. However, people return year after year to us because of this modern 'Jack & Jill' bathroom system, which links the two bedrooms. Both bedrooms therefore have 'ensuite' bathrooms. This system also means the children can go in one bedroom and the parents in the other, creating a 'family suite' but they still have access to each other without going into the hallway!
The outside bathroom number 5 really benefits guests more in the summer months when they emerge out of the pool and use the loo or have a shower rather than spreading a trail of water inside the house.!
Please come again from Germany and visit us once more - we look forward to welcoming you and your family. With kind regards, Becky
A thank you from the happy & rested Dixon family
My family and I have just come back from a lovely holiday at Villa 'Pluma
Piedra'. It could not have been more perfect for us, the villa was very
spacious, every bedroom was light and airy and had an en-suite bathroom
(great! no waiting). The open plan kitchen/lounge/dining room was very well
equipped with everything you would expect to find at home, this opened out,
via large patio doors, onto the delightful garden with heated pool which the
kids' loved. The beach was a 2 minute stroll away (not too far for little
ones to walk) and sported a huge expanse of fine sandy beach complete with a
Beach Bar and distant views of Gibralter. We enjoyed watching the sun set
of an evening at the Beach bar with a cool drink in our hand whilst the
children played on the beach, the beach felt safe and was very clean.
Nearby was a convenience store for supplies, and within walking distance,
there was a selection of places to dine out as a family, a couple included
entertainment which made for a pleasant evening.
Drive or take a taxi to Estapona, we really liked wandering through the old
town with the quaint buildings and colourful plant pots with flowers in
abundance. Go to the Orchid House in the centre, stand for a moment and
look around you at the tromp l'oi artwork on the buildings.
Take a stroll along the Marina at Marbella, it is an experience just to look
at the huge yachts and motor cruisers that are moored there. Shops aplenty,
(some very exclusive), and many places to eat, for all budgets, and which
overlook the sea.
We loved our holiday here and are planning to return again sometime this
Peter and Kim Dixon and family
Thank you to you and your family for leaving it spotlessly clean when you left. It was so considerate of you and much appreciated.
I am so pleased you all had such a great time and enjoyed the area. Look forward to hearing from you again soon. Have a good year.
I stayed at this fabulous villa with some friends and family . The villa is ideally situated; on one side very close to beach, which is very sandy and had a friendly beach bar and in the other direction are shops including supermarkets and places to eat. We had some lovely meals out. It was only about 45 minutes from Malaga airport.
The villa had everything you needed for a self catering holiday including a trolley for bringing the heavy shopping back.
The villa's garden has some lovely plants and we made full use of the salt water swimming pool and table tennis table.
There were some beautiful places nearby to visit including Estepona and Puerto Banus.
We had a great time and hope to return soon as did not have enough time to do everything we wanted to do.
I will tell Mario, the gardener, that you appreciated his hard work in the garden so much!
Thank you for the feedback and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Special interest holidays: Many guests have come to the Villa to walk in the hills and mountains and it is a particularly good area for mountain biking. Coast/Beach: The beautiful El Saladillo beach is less than a 2 minute walk from the Villa. There are numerous beaches if you walk further along in either direction or a short drive along the coast. However, El Saladillo beach is hard to beat! It is never crowded, soft sand, clear waters. There is volley ball 100 m along the beach which is a 'free-for all' and great fun! There is also kite surfing on the point. There is banana boating, water skiing, jet boating, etc at Funny Beach just short of Marbella - about 10 minute drive. Travel: The villa is equidistant from Malaga and Gibraltar. Malaga is an international airport (45 minutes by car) and there is a good, regular, air-conditioned coach service from Malaga to Marbella. Most of the larger airlines will provide a service there including Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2, British Airways, Monarch. I will provide details on transfers from airport to villa with your reservation. Distances: Nearest Airport : Malaga at 60 Kilometres. Nearest Ferry : Algeciras at 70 Kilometres. Nearest Beach : Playa Del Saladillo at 80 Metres. Nearest Bar/Pub : Several on the fringes of El Saladillo. Nearest Ski : Sierra Nevada at 230 Kilometres – about 2 hour drive. Nearest Golf : Los Flamingos and El Paraiso Golf clubs are within 1 Kilometre. Nearest Restaurant : Several within easy walking of El Saladillo. Car: Not Essential. Further Details: The table tennis table will provide hours of entertainment for all ages and there is a charming Park also available to residents and their visitors a short walk from the Villa. This Park offers a play area for younger children, including slide and swings, and free use of the Tennis Court which is also a basketball court. There is a grassed area for football, including half-sized goals. We have had many epic games of football there, adults v children! There are other activities up the beach including beach volleyball (only v short distance and always welcoming to any body who wants to join in), handball, water-skiing, paragliding, kite-surfing, etc. There are also opportunities to go cycling, mountain biking, diving, horse-riding, roller blading, walking. We have had several experiences of kayaking with Dolphins just off El Saladillo beach which was a thrill so you may be lucky and see them too! There is a very regular and reliable bus service that goes in either direction along the autovia to San Pedro, Marbella, Fuengirola, Malaga to the east, and to Estepona, Algeciras and Gibraltar to the West.
