Amazing experience!

Beautiful apartment. It definitely had character, was spacious and well appointed. Very well positioned within York Walls, we could walk to everything. All over, the experience was excellent.

At Home in York

  • 5 of 5

I rented this centuries-old attic apartment because I fell in love with the white walls and the massive wooden beams spanning the living area. They are actually all over the apartment, left exposed where ever possible; so old they have no nails. And they still stand.

The kitchen is more modern than I would have imagined. Every appliance I needed was at my fingertips, tucked behind slick wooden cabinets: wine cooler, dishwasher, washing machine, frig and freezer. Storage for our months worth of clothes was no problem, utilizing the hallway closet, the giant ancient wardrobe in the bedroom as well as the antique dresser.

The apartment is conveniently located to EVERYTHING, being almost in the middle of York. There are excellent restaurants at your fingertips up and down Mickelgate as well as right across the bridge. The train station is an easy walk, even rolling suitcases behind you. Grocery shopping is totally easy with Sainsbury's local doorsteps away, and the wonderful gourmet selection at Mark & Spencer is across the bridge and up the street a tiny bit.

All in all, it is a perfect location for a perfect vacation in a very historic old city.

Large Spacious Apartment..

  • 3 of 5

This is a beautiful and very spacious apartment on Micklegate with free parking nearby. It is on a busy road with traffic and bars, but the bedrooms are located at the rear of the house so these are much quieter than the living room.

The bed sheets weren’t changed because my wife spotted hairs and the sheets were creased. We found the kitchen to be slightly small for 4 persons sharing. All in all not the best value for money in York.

Excellent property- fantastic group space and quiet, especially given the central location

  • 4 of 5

A very nice rental. Master bedroom large and very nice. A step down to the master bathroom so a bit treacherous in the middle of the night. Second bedroom a bit small. Kitchen quite nice and living space with vaulted ceilings very nice and spacious. A great location for exploring the city. Street in from quite busy but the unit is up two flights of stairs and the bedrooms in back so absolutely quiet.

Spacious, clean and centrally located

We really liked this apartment. It is very close (walkable) to many of the sights in York. It's on a busy street, but the two bedrooms are in the back, down a hallway with a door that closes -- we had no issue with street noise at all. Our family of four had plenty of space in the apartment. We appreciated that the landlord has a lot of tourist information available, as well as an informational binder with local information, tips and information about the house, and user manuals for all of the appliances in the apartment. The beds were clean and comfortable, and overall the apartment was very clean. The kitchen has everything one would need for preparing meals, and looks recently renovated.

The only tricky thing about the apartment is parking, but it's not difficult -- it's just a couple of blocks away, behind the apartment building. The owner was helpful in advising us how to find the apartment and suggested dropping off our luggage first, grabbing the parking pass, then go to park the car.

Communication with the owner was prompt and pleasant.

We can definitely give this apartment a strong recommendation.
