Fabulous Birthday Celebration

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time to rent on VRBO and I could not have been happier! Jonathan and Susi who manage the chateau are absolutely fabulous and pay great attention to every detail. We were a group of 12 celebrating a birthday and Jonathan and Susi organized an outstanding dinner with private chef, several vineyard tours, wine tastings and a walking tour of Bordeaux with their fun tour guide Chloe. The chateau itself was beyond our expectations; from the beautiful interiors to the comfortable beds, the gym to the indoor play room with pool table. Our group is ready to book again for next year!! Thank you Chateau Living for such a wonderful and memorable holiday.

Beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

we went with another couple to celebrate 20th wedding anniversaries. Obviously there was more than enough room. We did not enjoy the pool due to cold and bad weather but every morning I enjoyed a walk through the woods of the property. The entire house is comfortable and we enjoyed dinner by fireside in the kitchen and also after dinner by the fire in the living room. We hired a private chef 2 nights and both were wonderful meals. We went out every day on a sightseeing trip of some sort but this house is so comfortable that a day just hanging out at the chateau would be lovely. I would definitely love to go back soon!!!

Wonderful property in a wonderful location with a very supportive owner and lovely local team

  • 5 of 5

We have now stayed at Le Petit Verdus twice and on both occasions have had terrific holidays. The chateau is both convenient and traditional. The grounds are set in an environment that almost requires relaxation with an outdoor dining space that looks out on a small vineyard and a modern pool surrounded by nature. The local village of Creon is splendid and there are miles of paved bike paths. Finally, Pascal and Nathalie take such good care of you during your stay. Having stayed in many VRBO's around the world, this is our favorite. Thanks Trudie!

What a way to work.

  • 5 of 5

12 of us arrived from around the world to come together for five days and discuss a new work venture. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting - a place to work, talk, relax, have fun, eat and sleep. Anna, Rupert, and Louise were amazing in looking after our every request - many thanks to Jonathan for organising everything too. We all left full of thoughts, inspiration, and most importantly, some of the best food and wine in France.

A magical family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Trudie for allowing our family of ten to stay in your beautiful chateau. We loved everything from the bedrooms, baths/showers, kitchen, salons, game room, outside amenities (although we did not use most, it was nice to have it available). Your property is extraordinary and well maintained. We were able to enjoy all the day trips you suggested on your website and still had a lot of chateau living time together. Truly a wonderful stay. Warm regards, Felice and Ed from Kaillua

About Jonathan Loy

We live in the U.S. Virgin Islands where Neil started a telecommunications company in1987 that is now publicly-traded and owns operations in the U.S. and Caribbean. We personally own and operate Coral World Ocean Park, a marine park and tourist attraction on St. Thomas as well as a restaurant, the Old Stone Farmhouse. We both grew up in the U.S. Northeast. Neil attended the Holy Cross College and Trudie graduated from Tufts University. We are both former lawyers (Neil a graduate of Harvard Law School and Trudie a graduate of Washington College of Law, American University).

Jonathan Loy purchased this castle in 2011

Why Jonathan Loy chose Sadirac

As lovers of French wine, we decided we would like our own vineyard. Having traveled in the beautiful and historic Bordeaux region previously, we began our search here and found the perfect castle in a perfect setting. And here we planted our vines.

What makes this castle unique

The chateau is a fairytale castle complete with turrets in a secluded park-like setting. The house is full of surprising architectural details like the massive fireplace in the kitchen, the elegant central staircase, the turret sitting area in one of the bedrooms, and the copper tub in one of the bathrooms. Deer and partridge visit the lawn. Dining al fresco on the terrace overlooking the vines on a warm, sunny day is glorious.

Bordeaux is home to one of Europe's biggest 18th-century architectural urban areas. In 2015, it won the title of Best European Destination & Best City in the World to visit in 2017 by Lonely Planet & The Los Angeles Times.

Only 30 minutes away is the historic town of St. Emilion - another UNESCO world heritage site and a beautiful medieval citadel producing some of the world’s greatest wines, with many excellent restaurants. The nearby Teich Bird Reserve is a natural reserve with excellent infrastructure for those who love bird watching. A trail of 5km around different habitats leads to a series of observation hides and look-outs where you can spot all sorts of water birds and take great pictures. It is a gathering point for storks, cranes, herons and smaller birds.

In the charming town of Creon 10 minutes away, there is a Wednesday market with fresh produce, meats, fish, cheese, bread and crafts. Creon also has a large, well-stocked Carrefour supermarket.

There is a 57 km bicycle path starting in Latresne, southeast of the Bordeaux city center on the eastern side of the Garonne River that runs through the nearby town of Créon to Sauveterre-de-Guyenne. Bicycle rentals are available in Creon on the bike path. It is about 25 km from Creon to Bordeaux. Access from Latresne to Bordeaux is via a river bike path.

Canoe and kayak rentals on the Dordogne are available in Pessac-sur-Dordogne about 50 minutes away.

The prehistoric cave of Lascaux, dating to 15,000 B.C. and famous for Paleolothic cave paintings, is two hours' drive via toll road.
