Close to beach & top seafood restaurants, private, peaceful location
About Nicola Renals
Hi, I'm Niki and together with my husband Andy, I own Villa Carpe Diem. As an RAF 'brat' I moved about quite a bit with my family when a youngster. Having said that, as the eldest of five children, I had quite a role in their upbringing! I love to travel and when we discovered Cyprus, I really enjoyed the varied landscape and the local hospitality.
Nicola Renals purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Nicola Renals chose Maroni
Villa Carpe Diem is very special. Set just outside the village of Maroni, it was designed by Andy and built by a local builder. Maroni is a wonderful place to use as a base for your holiday. You will get sunshine, you get your own private swimming pool, you get easy access to our local beach, there are tavernas and shops nearby, places to explore and visits that you may like to make. You can keep in touch with the world via our broadband wireless internet connection. When you get here, we hope that you will notice all sorts of little touches that combined make a big difference.

Outstanding family locstion
My job takes me to dozens of vacation rentals every year checking standards and ensuring they meet guest expectations, so when I'm a guest on vacation with my family, I set the bar high. We were not disappointed in Villa Carpe Diem.
Andy and Niki are outstanding hosts and truly understand the concept of hospitality. They live close by and were readily available to answer our questions about the location, and the wealth of tourist information and maps provided helped plan our days. Andy arranged a dive trip for my son which he enjoyed immensely.
The villa captures the beautiful Cyprus light and watching the sun rise over the ocean from the balcony was indescribable. Then the morning run to Maroni beach for a dip in the warm Mediterranean water was the best start to the day. Apart from a few drives out to explore the countryside and buy fresh veg from a roadside stand, we didn't go far from the villa. With two small children in the group, the swimming pool was the focal point of our stay and we spent most days relaxing and watching them play.
If you are a foodie and like to cook on vacation, not only is the kitchen superbly equipped, but the bookcases are full of recipe books. So if you want to try your hand at some Greek recipes, or buy some local fish and get some ideas on how to cook it, it's all there for you. And the nearby supermarket (15 mins) is large and very well-stocked - and open 7 days a week.
This was a wonderful vacation made all the better by our fantastic hosts and their attention to detail. Highly recommended!
I recently visited Cyprus with my client and colleague for two weeks and we stayed at Villa Carpe Diem and had an amazing time.
Firstly, the house is beautiful. You get a fabulous view with a great garden and pool and a lots of privacy. It is a great place to relax. The house is very large and clean, with plenty of space for everyone. It is modern and comfortable and the owners have equipped it with everything you might need, it felt like my home away from home.
The location in the Larnaca countryside makes it a very quiet and relaxing place, a car is a good idea as the cities are not very far if you drive. There are plenty of great things to see and do nearby and the owners are very happy to guide you to the best places.
My client is a wheelchair bound individual who requires certain equipment and aids for there day-to-day routine. The house was set up so that the care I provided could be done with ease. The owner’s were very happy to accommodate us by hiring and even buying some special equipment we required. The villa was great for me, as a carer, as it allowed my client to go on holiday without affecting the care I could provide them. The accessibility of the property also meant that my client could really relax and enjoy there holiday
Lastly, the owners, Andy and Niki, were without a doubt, absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to help us and make sure our holiday was one to remember, even giving up their Sunday to escort us to the hospital for a sprained foot. They were available whenever we had a question, helped us out with any problems and directed us to the best places to visit and places that were wheelchair friendly. The assistance they gave us was better than any hotel could have provided.
I highly recommend Villa Carpe Diem and will be staying here again when I return to Cyprus.
Wow! Thank you for the kind and generous review. It is really great for Niki and I to know that the efforts that we have put into making Villa Carpe Diem what it is today are appreciated by people like you who choose to come here to stay. Ensuring that our guests have the best possible accessible visit to Cyprus remains our number one goal. We look forward to having you come back to stay many more times! Again, thank you. Andy & Niki Renals
This villa has everything you could need. It is very well equipped, very comfortable, spacious and is in a beautiful rural setting with panoramic views of the sea and the mountains.
The local villages are quaint, very interesting and the locals couldn't be more friendly.
A car is essential to enable exploration of the local villages, although if it is a relaxing break you need, then you could manage without.
A dip in the pool is a delightful way to end any days out and as it is illuminated at night, it is beautiful to take a dip at night.
A wonderful holiday enjoyed by all.
Relax in comfort with beautiful surroundings
This is a beautiful villa with stunning views & the owners Nikki and Andy could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. It is in a quiet village, but everything you could need (the beach, great tavernas, supermarket) is accessible within a 5-10 minute drive.
The purpose of this review is aimed more at the fact that the villa is completely adapted for people with disabilities. We have family in Cyprus and try to visit once or twice a year but it has been harder to do so recently as my mother has multiple sclerosis- unfortunately becoming increasingly disabled over the years- and we have found it very hard to find suitable accommodation on the island. We knew of only two properties that were accessible, both in the Paphos region, and the owners of the one that we had stayed at previously sold it a few years back. Many properties in Cyprus do claim to be 'wheel chair friendly' but this often means they have a ramp or the odd handrail, but at villa Carpe Diem they have thought of everything. The lower level of the villa has been purpose built in mind for guests with disabilities and includes a walk in shower (with chair) & adjustable height beds. The rest of the villa is accessible with plenty of space to move around and we were also able to hire a mobile hoist and wheel chair adapted vehicle. Niki was extremely helpful prior to the holiday, checking all of my mothers needs, to ensure they were prepared and everything was set up on our arrival. Nothing was too much trouble-they advised that there was a care agency on the island if we needed extra support which is really useful to know for future stays.
There is a wonderful swimming pool and Andy has recently added a pool hoist which was a huge draw for us as it allowed my mum to really enjoy the swimming.
It is great to have met Niki and Andy- they really understand the needs of people with disabilities and are making steps to make Cyprus enjoyable and accessible for all.
We have a cousin getting married next year in Cyprus and my mother is already busy making plans to return just one day after we have got home - she loved every minute of the holiday!
If you have any special needs or requirements and are hesitating whether to travel to Cyprus I would recommend you get in touch with Niki as I'm sure she would be more than happy to help and make sure your stay is a comfortable one.
It was a real pleasure to welcome this lovely family to Villa Carpe Diem.
Making our accessible accommodation available to people who would otherwise find it difficult or perhaps impossible to visit Cyprus has been a long term goal. The opportunity to relax in comfort in Cyprus is not to be missed!
Our recently acquired wheelchair accessible vehicle, electric beds and hoist have enabled this holiday and its glowing review.
For those who have specific care needs, we work closely with Sunshine Carers, to tailor a care plan to your holiday needs. If we can enable your holiday, we will, please do get in touch.
We arrived at Carpe Diem with our party of 9 (4 adults, 3 teens, 2 younger ones) and were truly floored when we saw the home, it was amazing!. We were a little late in our arrival and were greeted by Mary and Graham who were gracious hosts and very helpful in getting us acquainted with the house and local area.
Carpe Diem was absolutely lovely and far exceeded our expectations. The house is nestled amongst rolling hills and farmland and from the home you can see the sea, the mountains, and the quaint town of Maroni. The home was truly perfect for our visit. The pool was clean and refreshing, the home immaculate and completely up to date with modern amenities and containing everything you could want, including a bottle of wine and a semi-stocked fridge with some cold Cypriot beer! We often sat at the rear patio, eating breakfast or having drinks and looking out over the pool and towards the sea, always with a breeze.
The location of the home is near the small village of Zygi, which has an awesome little beach and apparently some great restaurants that we never got a chance to eat at. Carpe Diem is right between Laranca and Limassol and near enough to the local highway entrance as we travelled readily to Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos.
The home worked out so well that half of our party ended up changing travel plans and staying in the home for several more days. We had one small issue with a refrigerator and Graham and Mary called Niki and the issue was resolved immediately. We cannot wait to go back to Cyprus and stay again in Carpe Diem.
We are a family of six with kids ranging from ages 6 to 18. We stayed at Villa Carpe Diem last year and liked it so much we came back again this year!
The house is lovely and relaxing. Well equipped for those who want to stay in and cook and well located between the major towns and places of interest for days out or, as in our case as London based Cypriots, visiting friends and family!
There's plenty of space for all the family lounging around the large and wonderful pool or even indoors. The owners were welcoming and friendly, and very attentive to our needs, for example putting a safety gate at the top of the stairs for our youngest who is overly adventurous. And their "housekeepers" Graham and Mary were also very helpful and based nearby incase they're needed.
Would happily recommend to other families and "singletons" too.
Thank you so much for your generous comments - we are delighted to accommodate families, and our aim is for you to be able to relax in whatever way suits you best and enjoy the great weather and many interesting places to visit. You can be assured of a warm welcome on your next visit to Villa Carpe Diem.
Villa Carpe Diem is located on the outskirts of Maroni village, pleasantly situated almost midway between Larnaca and Limassol making it idea for relaxing in the sun and when you are ready, exploring some of the other historic local villages as well as trips further afield. If you love to eat Cypriot fish meze, Zygi with many fish restaurants is just five minutes away. Maroni has a new village taverna, centrally located, it provides good value food in a traditional setting. For those who like to explore, we have a visitor guide with secret locations just waiting to be discovered! Delightful Maroni is an ideal base from which to travel to all the popular tourist destinations. With the beach just five minutes down the road Villa Carpe Diem is a wonderfully quiet place to relax. Unfortunately Cyprus has limited Google mapping so we provide guests with clear written directions, thus far everyone has arrived! GPS mapping co-ordinates provided on request. We look forward to welcoming you.
Golf: The nearest golf course is at Secret Valley, just a 20 kilometre drive.
Ski: We've yet to try it but there are a couple of ski runs in the Troodos Mountains! When the snow falls they say it is possible to ski in the morning and swim in the afternoon! As much of the 20 kilometre drive is into the mountains might it be a bit much to suggest cycling there? Why not let us know - an article in the local press could be on the cards...
