Where Lady Hamilton would meet Admiral Lord Nelson when he was on leave.
Why Owner chose Deal
It is said this is where Lady Hamilton would meet Admiral Lord Nelson on his return from his famous naval campaigns. Rumour is there is a secret passage between our house and the one next door which used to be a tavern. Nelson would enter the tavern head up the stairs and disappear only to reappear in what is now the master bedroom in our house. Hence why it is called Hamilton House.

Fabulous escape to the seaside
We had a wonderful week in Deal. The house was really lovely - spacious, very clean and well appointed, with bags of character. Bathrooms a good size and effective showers.
A very quiet location and only a short walk to the sea front or into the High Street. We loved the sunny garden for coffee and lunch and the upstairs living room was a great room for relaxing inside and the view to the sea from the window an added bonus.
The drop off and unloading worked well - there is space for vehicles to pass. There is plenty of free parking along the sea front or in streets a little further along. The stairs in the property are steep and curving, so definitely not suitable for someone with limited mobility. But for anyone else they are fun and there are stair gates throughout for toddlers.
We had a great time and can highly recommend it.
The High street has lots of interesting shops and also all the usual services you would need.
A good variety of cafes and restaurants to suit all budgets.
We loved strolling along the sea front in both directions and the café at the end of the pier is great for brunch. We took trips to Sandwich, Whitstable and Dover - all of which can be reached by train if you don't want to use the car.
Wonderful coastal walking, particularly in the White Cliffs section from Dover to Kingsdown.
Deal was our first stay in Kent and proved a wonderful base in a wonderful house.
Lovely beautiful house - home from home
I rented the property for 6 nights for my family and I.
The house is beautifully decorated, it is extremely clean and has a lovely welcoming feel to it!
The beds are very very comfortable, the bath is HUGE and the showers including the en suite are lovely! The log fire in the front room creates a lovely feel for a relaxing evening! In both summer and winter this house is a perfect holiday home in a picturesque seaside town, you can smell the sea and hear the waves in the morning and evening. The garden is beautiful for an early morning coffee or late night bedtime tipple.
The scenic sea front is a short walk away and it is a 2 minute walk to the town centre where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes - all listed in the welcome pack provided by the owners
I could go on about how amazing and perfect our stay was - there isn’t anything negative at all to say and I highly recommend this property!
I feel it is very reasonable priced and I would stay here again and again.
Parking is not an issue, we had 4 vehicles between 8 of us, we found free parking 5 minutes down the road and always found a space to park in the evening.
Thank you to Ben and Claire for sharing their beautiful home and allowing my family and I a comfortable, relaxing place to stay.
Enjoyable family weekend in Deal
Spent a lovely family weekend in this charming property. The house was spotless, beds comfortable and kitchen plentiful with every utensil needed. We very much appreciated generously filled welcome basket which awaited us in the kitchen.
Yes the stairs are very winding and could be difficult for elderly people or young children. But that is the only aspect of this property that could cause problems. We knew what to expect and managed fine.
Character, Charm and Comfort
This is a very comfortable, homely house in a great location. We visited on a very cold weekend but still enjoyed walking on the beach and returning to a warming fire. You can see the sea from the back windows, and pop to the shops in 5 minutes. The kids loved the unusual winding staircase, but it might be tricky for some. Deal itself has a lot of character and the quiet streets were a nice change, but you have to be careful with parking, or it might be quite costly over a longer period. Would like to revisit in Summer.
Very good location, facilities and presentation of a charming and well configured property
Everything you need is provided. The bedrooms are well laid out and well decorated. We had a couple of light bulbs missing on arrival and found the stairs steep (though typical for Deal) but OK unless very infirm. Very hard to fault the property and service provided including the welcome and hand overs. We would definitely like to visit this property again.
Unique house and fantastic place to stay.
Beautiful house, great location. Ideal place to stay to explore Kent. Lovely little town with an amazing beach.
Maybe bring bags rather than suitcases as it's a little challenging to get suitcases up and down the spiral staircases!
Overall a great holiday.
