Poems have been written about the owner and panorama (nice poems). People return year after year. This place attracts artistic people.
From the moment our flying dolphin arrived in Gaios we knew we had made the right choice for a week of de-stressing! We were met off the boat by Dee (owner of Villa Panorama), and I have to say were made to feel very welcome! We stopped for a quick look around Lakka on our way up to the villa - it seemed to be a lovely relatively quiet traditional greek village. Nothing however could prepare us for what awaited us on our arrival at our accomodation!!!! Villa Panorama is nothing short of spectacular, there are no words to describe the calmness and serenity we felt in this place. Dee our host for the week was a lovely helpful woman - full of useful tips and hints and local enecdotes of village life and although never intrusive was always there if we needed anything. I would highly recommend Dee and her little piece of heaven for anyone wanting a week of peace, calmness and chill. P.s we stayed in the seaside appartment which was very quirky but lovely and spent a lot of our week round the large fantastic pool. Not to be missed!!!!!!!!
We have had a wonderful holiday at The Garden apartment. The setting is fantastic with amazing views over the Ionian Sea to the mainland. It is a photographers/ writers/ dreamers paradise! There are lots of places to relax in the garden from hammocks to tables and chairs as well as pool sun loungers. Our 8 year old daughter practically lived in the pool the whole week! The garden is shared by the 2 apartments- but how lucky were we to have it to ourselves on this particular week! The apartment is cute and quirky, beautifully decorated in blue and white tones, comfy beds with everything you need from tonnes of books, tv, ceiling fan....the bathroom and small kitchen were great. (We ate out almost all of the time however) ....there is a great BBQ in the garden too though we didn't get round to using it. The British owner was such a fantastic host and on arrival our fridge was stocked with a delicious lunch, fresh bread and wine! She constantly gave us too tips, lots of island anecdotes and was so kind and helpful to us. Her two dogs were lovely and only joined us in the garden on a few occasions as we are dog lovers ourselves. The house is situated some way out of the gorgeous village ( however only 10-15 min walk or 5 min drive) of a Lakka, and for us the steep hill climb home added to the adventure but be warned it is very steep! It Helped to burn off a few calories though on the beautiful moonlit walks home, no street lighting to spoil the magnificent night skies.... There are lots of tavernas and restaurants in a Lakka, Greek dancing on a Wednesday evening at ' Harbour lights' bar.....You can get a daily bus to Gaios, also you can hire car, boats etc, go to a variety of pebble beaches with clear sea. I would highly recommend this holiday and the apartments in particular. If you are looking for something peaceful, relaxing but with all the amenities of a village close by then this is a great place, the only downside was coming home! Will definitely return and definitely recommend. To the other reviewer.... Of course it was hot, it's Greece in the summer! We did not see a single mosquito either!
We have just returned from a wonderful and relaxing two weeks holiday. We stayed in the sea view apartment. Dee was a most wonderful hostess. We felt very well looked after. The accommodation was exactly as described here. The view is exceptional and the large swimming pool is perfect for a refreshing swim or play around. The walk to the beach or village is quite steep but with very enjoyable views and it makes for a healthier option than using a car.
We stayed 5 nights in July 2015. The place is very peaceful and with beautiful views to the sea. The owner is very friendly and helpful. There is a friendly and well behaved dog (I believe two of them. by now). There is a small swimming pool that though its warm water, still fulfills its function of refreshing body and soul, with its beautiful views and quietness.
We did not mind the walk up and down the village, but it is good to know that is a very, very steep 12- minutes walk only for fit people (there is a longer milder path but we never tried).
Even considering the charm of the place and of the owner, I would not recommend it for the hot periods of the year. There is no air con, only a roof fan, and I really suffered due to the heat; it was hard for me to rest and sleep, I had to be all the time wet (shower/swimming pool) and in my bathing gear, to cope. Also, as there are MANY mosquitos, the door cannot be left open, so you roast inside the apartment, specially if you decide to cook something in the kitchen. I advice to buy an electric device for mosquitos, as we did, as with it, you can leave the door open and get some fresh air. It is also good to know that the apartment is very simple, on the bohemian style, with basic furniture, bathroom and kitchenette. Do not expect luxury or chic. Overall, if with air con, I would have given a 9 on 10 to the experience. Without it, and considering its price, my quotation stays lower. I would advice the owner to install an air con.
If you're looking for peace, tranquility & seclusion this is the place for you. The owner lives on site and is so helpful & friendly but never intrusive. The accommodation is well equipped & comfortable & the views from the pool & garden are amazing. It's about a 10/15 min walk to the lovely village of Lakka where there are some great tavernas & shops. You can hire boats from Lakka and visit Anti-Paxos. Car hire, quads etc are also available. We can't wait to return to this little corner of paradise.
Absolutely fantastic, probably the most relaxing holiday ever. The position is stunning with wonderful views across to the mainland and access is fine either by car,or on foot, though not for people with mobility difficulties as the village of Lakka is down a fairly steep rough slope.
Amazing owner who cannot do enough and has two lovely dogs, a place I am certain we will be returning to in the near future, cannot recommend the place highly enough.
