FAMILY HISTORY / LOCAL AREA

Our family are originally from Bergamo and my Father moved to England in the 60's but most of our family remain in this beautiful area of Lombardy.

We love the Lombardy region for its fantastic food and wines and easy access to the best Northern Italy has to offer - The Lakes, Milan, Venice, Verona, Monza to name but a few.

The region has much to offer from a natural, cultural, arts and architectural perspective.

The pleasures of Lombardy are multi-faceted.

These range from those offered by a modern, cosmopolitan city to the relaxed charms of the nature’s beauty. There is the shopping for clothing and accessories in the fashionable boutiques in Milan, some of the best in Europe and in the world, the excellent restaurants and nightlife fueled by the wealth and style-conscious residents of Milan, the excellent art in Pinocateca di Brera in the city and the most re-produced painting in the world, Da Vinci’s “Last Supper”, commute and visit to one of the several other historic cities in the region such as Bergamo, Cremona, and Mantua.

A visit to one of the lake resorts is a must as is Verona, Venice, Monza and Citta Alta.

Excellent - a little piece of tranquility

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the Lake. The house was excellent and the most well equipped of all the places we have stayed. It was great being so close to the Lake (for swimming and boating), La Fonte (for pizza and tiramisu), Il Forno (for bread and pastries) as well as La Dama Bianca (for ice-creams and espressos)! We visited Bergamo old village, Aquasplash, Lovere, Refugio Alpe Corte, and the Parco Avventura in Clusone - all great places. The weather was fantastic and the only slight negative to the whole week was getting mosquito bites despite using plug-ins, sprays and wipes!

We would thoroughly recommend your house to anyone who wants a relaxing (and fun-packed) holiday in a peaceful location

Charming and Peaceful right on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We probably visited out of season (May) but the location was so peaceful it was wonderful. To wake to nothing but the birds singing and the sun streaming in the window was a joy.

The villa itself was charming. I would describe it as being in the style of a chalet rather than a traditional seaside villa which we are used to. It was perfectly equipped with everything we needed and I honestly can't think of one thing we looked for couldn't find.

The main bedroom was airy and comfortable with plenty of wardrobe space. There was a washroom (toilet, bidet and basin) in between that and the second bedroom. This bedroom was very warm as it only contains one skylight, which couldn't be left open in the day. Therefore by the time we returning in the evening it was very stuffy. We compensated for this by leaving the balcony doors open in the master bedroom and letting the air flow through. There is no air con, so whilst there are large fans provided, I would imagine in summer it could get quite hot - us Brits aren't used to the heat! Again though, this bedroom had plenty of storage space.

My son slept in downstairs in the sitting area on a sofa bed. This was probably the more cool room in the house.

We spent most of our family time outside at the table or inside the kitchen area which was beautifully set up to contain all of us.

There were lots of books and game for the children - not that they needed occupying and we were so busy!

The villa felt very secure and being in a gated community provided that extra exclusivity. The neighbours were very pleasant too.

Literally a couple of minutes away is the wonderful La Fonte restaurant. Really family friendly - what better encouragement to not bother cooking in the evening.

A stroll around the lake (well not all of it) every evening was beautiful and then back through the village to work up an appetite.

We stocked up on groceries in the supermarket on the first day and then had everything we needed at the beautiful little bakers on the way to the villa. Our son would walk up most mornings to get fresh supplies.

The property was fantastic.

  • 5 of 5

The property was clean and well presented. It's situation is perfect. Nice and near the lake for lots of lovely walks and fishing, but far enough away to have peace, quiet and privacy. A great central location to visit lots of other tourist attractions from but be also to get away from it all if you want as well. Good restaurants on the doorstep and fantastic ice cream in Bergamo! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and returning for more!

Stunning!

  • 5 of 5

We had a truly superb week with glorious weather living the Italian way in this brilliant villa. Breakfast was bought fresh from Il Forno bakery just a short walk away and enjoyed al fresco on the patio at our quiet and secluded villa in a secure and restful gated community. In the evenings a short walk down to the lakeside also brought the delights of la Fonte restaurant where the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, especially to my Coeliac wife who also has a dairy allergy to cope with. The villa itself offers everything you could wish for, is spacious, clean and well equipped. It is comfortable and even with temperatures never dipping below 30 degrees Centigrade, our nights sleep went uninterrupted and were restful. The beauty of the area cannot be conveyed in words, and we felt truly blessed to have been able to enjoy such wonder every day that we were there. Endine benefits from its relatively small size compared to the likes of Lakes Como and Garda, as it is somewhat undiscovered by the hordes of tourists that swarm to these lakes, and as a result has a sense of still being Italian. All in all we have had a truly memorable holiday and would love to come again some day.
