About Deanna Garofano
As an Australian with an adventurous spirit and a sense of wanderlust, a lover of good food and wine someone who appreciates a touch of finesse I have found myself in a very happy place. Luckily my husband is a very easy going Englishman and my three little boys don't know any different. Crisp winters and long balmy summers are a few of the draws that keep us here. But for me, more importantly, having landed on foreign soil my insatiable appetite for new discoveries is constantly being fed. The gentle and fair approach to life here in France appeals to my sense of inner calm, the history, and in turn the culture appeals to my ongoing adventurous side and my desire to know more. Family and friends (and a few treats now and then) are all important, and spending time together.
Deanna Garofano purchased this Villa in 2002
Why Deanna Garofano chose Juillac
Living in SW France enables us as a family to live life at our own pace and not feel the pull to join any race. We live with tranquility and space and with a strong sense of community. Twice a year we enjoy an evening of food and wine with the people of Juillac organised by the Maire which constantly consolidates our feelings of belonging to a community. I'm sure any visitor will feel this warmth and friendliness. The landscape is marvellous. We live amongst stretches of immaculate vines. Wildlife is abundant with deer, wild-boar, game birds to name a few. The River Dordogne is a stones throw for walks, swims and canoeing. Fishing is great. There are fabulous historic towns that act as backdrops to weekly markets and some of the finest wines in the world are at our doorstep.
What makes this Villa unique
You wont have far to venture to take a canoe trip down the Dordogne, ride a horse at a local equestrian centre, visit a lake with man made beach and playground. It's easy to go on a culinary adventure, cook to your hearts content and put on a great spread for all to share. Learn more on a wine tasting course. See the spectacular re-enactment of the final battle of the hundred years war in Castillion. The local tourist office will keep you right up to date with the latest festival, concert, art expo or Châteaux and gardens opening times. Eat out in great restaurants or informally at a local night-market enjoying music and a bottle of local wine. St Emilion, Bordeaux and the Lascaux caves all have been awarded UNESCO heritage status, beauty & wonder abounds and all is waiting to be explore.

Beautiful Villa in heart of rural vineyards and close to Dordogne river
We were a family of 9 and Villa Edith was just perfect for us , lovely old typical French Villa in rural setting surrounded by vineyards. The Villa was very well equipped and had lovely pool and gardens and outdoor eating area. Just idyllic in every way. Our host lived nearby and was very helpful and her recommendations on local restaurants and places to visit were most helpful. We all really enjoyed our holiday and would definitely go back again
Thank you for your kind words and really happy you enjoyed your stay.
My Dream farm house, beautiful location, full of Character, plenty of space. The family enjoyed the swimming pool, which also had an alarm for small children. In the perfect setting of a French Vine Yard with an amazing Chateaux 5 mins away.
We all enjoyed un fresco Dining outside most evenings.
Would recommend this great Venue.
Thank you to our host.
A perfect villa for a occasion
To celebrate my husbands 60th birthday and my sons 30th birthday, we decided to book a villa in France and invite all the family. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Villa Edith was gorgeous - beautifully decorated, wonderfully comfortable beds and linen, wonderful garden and pool, a lovely location and a great kitchen to cook in too. I would highly recommend it.
Coast/Beach: The famous surfing beaches of Lacanau and pleasure beaches of Arcachon will take 1 and a half hours to reach but are well worth the day trip. We do have a number of lakes with artificial beaches where you can enjoy water sports/pedalos, or a picnic and playgrounds for children within 20 minutes of Villa Edith. The river Dordogne only 5 minutes away is a great place to hire kayaks/canoes and explore the local natural beauty, don't forget your binoculars! Travel: Villa Edith is situated between two international airports. Bordeaux airport is approximately 60 minutes. Bergerac airport is approximately 45 minutes. There some great rail links with Eurostar from Paris and Lille to Libourne. Castillion-La Bataille railway station is only 10 minutes away. St Malo is 6 hours to the north, Calais is more like 9. Distances: The Gourmand village of Juillac, set on high ground over looking the magnificent Dordogne valley has its own award winning restaurant. Rows and rows of immaculate vines produce highly acclaimed wines and many vineyards 'open doors' inviting visitors for tastings. Concerts, antique fairs, art expositions, night markets and many other events run throughout the summer months in Juillac and neighbouring villages. St Emilion, Pomerol, the Medoc and Graves are all easy drives. Further Details: Gensac, a local town only 5 minutes away has a butchers, bakers, post office, bars and restaurants and convenience store. From Chateaux and gardens to goat farms there is literally something different to take part in everyday of your stay if you choose. Or perhaps indulge in the pure luxury of doing absolutely nothing.
