The 4 on suite bedroom, double story 500 square meter house is located on the Sanderlings Estate, 7km from Plettenberg Bay's Town center on the beautiful Keurbooms River nature reserve. The estate boasts 20 privately owned holiday homes with access via secure remote gates. Plettenberg Bay is on the famous garden route and home to fabulous beaches, golf courses, hiking and forest trails with natural beauty catering for many diverse tastes. The executive open plan home built in 2006 centers around a large open plan kitchen living and dining room that flows seamlessly through two large stacking doors onto the covered and private 50 square meter patio with undercover barbecue (braai). The patio has recently been extended with a 100 square meter hard wooden deck creating a beautiful private entertaining area and has also recently been closed in with side gates and doors for added privacy and extra safety if you have smaller children and are concerned they may wonder off the property. The home is furnished comfortably with today's modern fixture and fittings including washing machine, 2 dishwashers, tumble drier, fridges, freezers and a flat screen TVs in each room. Tenants are free to utilize all common areas along the river bank of the estate well suited for its magical sunsets or a late afternoon sundowner. There is also a private jetty/mooring for a boat should this be required.

Lindsay and Elaine Brown hold dual South African and British citizenship. We have two children aged 19 and 16 respectively and moved to the Cotsworlds in England 12 years ago. We still regard SA as our home and try and visit every year where we enjoy time with friends and family and more importantly our home which we trust you will enjoy.

Why Lindsay Brown chose Western Cape

The Keurbooms river is a place of absolute natural beauty that allows one to totally switch of and relax yet close enough to all major amenities if one wants to explore, shop or go on an adventure. Our home is a family home formost that is an entertainers dream whether with a small or larger group. The Keurbooms river overs safe swimming,fishing, water skiing, wind surfing, kayaking as well as many secluded beaches along the bank which one can access by boat. There are numerous fun activities and tourist attractions within 25 km radius from the entire family to enjoy. The private secure estate with its direct access to the river and private jetty for launching a boat offers a very tranquil and relaxing location. I have enjoyed visiting this area since a child when my parents took us caravaning every easter weekend along the Keurbooms river and we set our sights on one day building a home there that we could enjoy as a family. Today my 2 brothers each own properties within a stones throw from our house.

What makes this house unique

The tranquil, safe and friendly environment is a place to totally unwind.You can walk to the beach within 15 minutes to search for the very rare Pansy Shell during low tide. The estate allows you to escape the crowds with its quiet and tranquil setting. Having a boat allows you to go fishing or take a sundowner booze cruise up or down the river to many secluded beaches along the way. Plettenberg Bay has fantastic restaurants and shops if one is in need of any retail therapy. The river bank is common property for all residents and at sunset is a perfect meeting point to enjoy sundowners.The house itself only 80 meters from the water lends itself to great entertainment on the patio and deck around the barbecue/braai with family and friends. An excellent stay in the most beautiful house

We came to stay from a week in May and it turned out to be the most fantastic holiday I have ever had! The house is absolutely stunning with everything you could possible need, masses of space with area's to socialise and an indoor and outdoor braai! The kitchen was very well equipped allowing for self catering and the interior is contemporary and finished to an exceptionally high standard. The house is located by the Keurboomsrivier in a very safe gated community and is within walking distance to the beach and only 5 minutes away from the main town by car! The most perfect location. As well as this there are many places to visit nearby such as monkey world, the cheetah sanctuary, the Knysna elephant park and much more. I highly recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay in the area, you definitely won't regret it!

Lovely house - great location

The house was perfect for our family which included 2 toddlers and a wheelchair user. Although there was no gate on the property we were able to block the exits on the patio so they didn't escape! The patio area is great for getting together. The complex was also very peaceful. The house has lots of space, is clean and well maintained. There is everything you would need at the house as well as beaches, restaurants and of course the river nearby. There was only one negative which was the lack of wifi, which the details say is available and we would have liked to keep in touch with our daughter in the UK. However it didn't spoil our holiday and I would return to this house if we visited again.

Great home and destination

My family and I have just had a fabulous 2 week stay in this wonderful home. We have 3 sons in their twenties, loads of friends visiting and the home accommodates them all very easily. Loads of space, well laid out, entertainers dream and very comfortable beds and spacious rooms. The house is just 30m from the river and with its grassed banks you can spend the day sun tanning and swimming without having to go to the beach. All in all we were very satisfied and will be back.

The house in 15 minutes walk to the nearest beach. Plettenberg Bay boasts numerous beautiful beaches. The Keurboomstrand beach is a 6km drive into the quaint Keurbooms strand village where you can enjoy a meal and drink at the famous Enrico's restaurant. In the other direction towards Plettenberg Bay just 7km away there are more than 3 beautiful beaches namely Look Out Beach, Main Beach or Beacon Isle Beach and then Blue Flag Robberg Beach.

Travel:

The nearest airport is situated in Plettenberg bay which is 15 km from the house and a small local airport. The next most poular is George International 100km or 1 hour 15 minutes away. The next closest airport is Port Elizabeth which is 238 km or 02h20 drive and then Cape Town (CT) airport which is 508 km or 5h30 drive. Ther are now direct flights to Plettenberbay airport 3 times per week from Johannesburg. The most popular due to frequency of flights is to fly into George airport from CT or Johannesburg and then rent a car. There are numerous tourist attractions in the area and hence a car is essential for exploring. An alternative is to fly into Cape Town or Port Elizabeth and rent a car and drive the garden route N2 to Plettenberg Bay.

Distances:

Plettenberg Bay town center with all major shopping chains, cinema, boutique stores and restaurants is just 7km away. The beautiful quiet village of Keurboomstrand is just 6km away and home to the fantastic Enrico's restaurant. Just 20km towards Port Elizabeth is Natures Valley and a further 30km in the same direction is Storms River Village and Storms River Moutha must do as a day trip. In the opposite direction travelling in the direction of Cape Town aprox. 40km away is Knysna situated on the Knysna Lagoon with fabulous shops a marina and gold courses.There are numerous attractions within just 25km radius to explore such as game parks, animal sanctuaries, hiking and biking trails, arts and crafts markets and the Robberg peninsuela not to mention some of the best gold courses in South Africa.

You can find all the services you may require whist on holiday in Plettenberg Bay from shopping centers, restaurants, boutique shops, banks etc. There is a cinema, take away restaurants, a Hospital, Doctors, Opticians and Dentists within 10 km. To book please email Lindsay/Elaine to discuss any specific questions or requirements. Once you are happy to proceed a 50% non refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. This can be made into a UK bank account for overseas tenants or a South African bank account for local South African tenants. If a maids service is required then this can be arranged separately from the rent at aprox R200 per day paid directly to the domestic worker that can be arranged with prior notice. An exit clean of R400 will be levied on departure on top of your rental.

Changeover Day:
Flexible so please enquire when booking. The exit cleaners will arrive on the morning of departure day. We ask that the house be handed back in the same condition you received it reporting and replacing breakages.

Notes on prices:
South African tenants can deposit rentals into a South African bank account.The exchange rate of the day between British pounds and the Rand will apply for foreign guests. A 50% deposit secures the booking and is not refundable. The balance is due 10 days prior to arrival. Please note in peak season December there will be a minimum rental period of 21 days.

Notes on accommodation: The property is in a private secure estate comprising of 20 holiday homes. The river is safe for swimming. The estate is governed by a set of housing rules and simply request that all tenants respect the rules and have consideration for the neighbors. A set of housing rules will be forwarded to all tenants prior to arrival. There is a boat and car at the property and not included for use with the rental. There is a built in undercover barbecue for use on the patio. No portable barbecues are allowed on the patio and deck area please. You may use a portable barbecue on the grass area at the side of the property. Outside: The property has a well maintained and serviced private garden.There is an outside undercover patio extending to a hard wood deck equipped with a large 10 seater table and patio lounge suite. There is a undercover barbecue built into the patio area.The house is equipped with 2 outdoor sun lounges and outside garden furniture. The river situated 80 meters from the house is extremely safe for swimming. There is also an outside hot and cold shower for washing that sand off when returning from the beach. There is ample parking in the private driveway or garage parking area. Utility Room: The utility room leads directly off the kitchen and is equipped with washing machine, tumble drier, 2 dishwashers and double sink/basin. The house is equipped with an iron and ironing board outside drying line for hanging washing and a vacuum cleaner. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included. The house will be cleaned on arrival. A maids service can be arranged prior to arrival on daily basis or when required and is not included in the price. A final exit clean will be charged to the tenant of £22. (R300). Other: There is a guest wc downstairs. The double garage has access directly from the kitchen.The main bedroom has a private balcony as does bedroom 4. The two downstairs bedrooms lead onto a very private covered patio. A study area connects the upstairs rooms.
