About Mark and Roberta Wolff
We live in Surrey with our 2 young children and co-own our holiday home in Germany with our parents. We travel here several times a year to enjoy the region and always return feeling refreshed. This property was bought because we love the area and we wanted to share it with our family. We always enjoy it and we hope you do also.
Mark and Roberta Wolff purchased this House in 2007
Why Mark and Roberta Wolff chose Prichsenstadt
We have been coming to Franconia since 1999 when a family member retired in the area nearby. We all fell in love with the region and in 2007 we had the opportunity to purchase this property in this very remarkable town. We have been having happy family holidays here ever since. This area is easily accessible by car or air. We drive most often as it works for us.
What makes this House unique
There really is something for all the family in the area. The town is quiet and traditional and a chance to sample the outstanding food and wine that Franconia has to offer. The surrounding countryside is simply beautiful, the vineyards, orchards and fields around the town are all open to explore. The area is perfect for cyclists and hikers and includes the Steigerwald Nature Park, just a few kilometers away. For those needing more excitement there are several nearby bigger towns and villages to explore and one of Bavaria's biggest theme parks just 7 km away.

An amazing holiday in beautiful Bavaria
Prichsenstadt is a beautiful village with easy access to the rest of Bavaria. There are several good places to eat & the local people are very friendly. The house is clean, comfortable & full of character. There are many places to visit within an hour's drive. We particularly enjoyed the boat trip from Volkach along the river Main, the town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the Tiergarten in Nuremberg and the treetop walk in the Steigerwald. We would love to return one day.
Utterly charming property in an amazing village. Clean and very comfortable and a fantastic base fo
We had a fantastic holiday in Prichsenstadt. The area is steeped in history and fun things to do.
Well equipped, clean, in a quiet little old town
Convenient house, well equipped, clean, quiet, in a cosy old town (with a churchbell), restaurants, winery, bakery and butcher very near. Walking and cycling possibilities perfect. A good place to stay.
Fantastic property and charming location
The Stone House was much larger than we had expected so plenty of room for a family of 5 (Children 19, 13 and 9). The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and nicely furnished and we all felt very much at home. The wealth of local information was very useful and WIFI access meant we could plan activities with ease. Prichenstadt was particularly lovely and the ringing of the bells just added to the charm of the whole place. We ate at the Golden Adler and The Storch and were warmly welcomed even though very little English was spoken, Food was of great quality and value for money. Trips to Bamberg and Wurztberg were greatly enjoyed although the very hot weather (topping 38 degrees) meant we enjoyed 3 days in the local swimming pools. The owners were fantastic in the lead up to the holiday, in their welcoming of feedback and in forgiving me when I left at the end of the week with the back door key in my jean pocket!!
We have all raved about the holiday and would highly recommend the property and the location to anyone looking for a holiday away from the usual European destinations.
Nice stay - neat little town
We spent a nice week in this house. Plenty of things to do in a 40km radius.
The house itself is old, and it shows. The doors are really low (approx 1.75m). Being 1.85, I bumped my head various times in a rather unpleasant manner.
The house has the bare essentials. Not a real luxury cottage. Cleaning could be a whole lot better. We sent the owner a list of items which should be addressed for other guests.
Mattresses are much too thin to be comfortable.
Couch in the living room is comfortable. TV/internet all work fine.
Prichsenstadt is a real small village. A few restaurants, a bakery and a butcher. That's about it. A walk around town takes max 15 mins to take it all in.
Sehr gut ausgestattetes Haus
Sehr gut und praktisch ausgestattetes Haus in der Innenstadt. Alles Wichtige ist fussläufig zu erreichen. Gerne wieder
Frankfurt Airport: 1hr 30min drive.
Nuremburg (Nürnberg) Airport: 45min drive.
We highly recommend a hire car to get around the area.
Prichsenstadt lies 744 km (460 miles), approximately 7 hours driving time from Calais.
Würzburg (English:Wuerzburg), 40 km.
Kitzingen, 25 km
Nürnberg (English: Nuremberg), 90 km.
Wiesentheid: Nearest larger town, with larger grocery shops etc. 6 km
There are 5 restaurants and several guest houses in the town, all within a couple of minutes walk from the house. All serve traditional Franconian cuisine and a range of local and Franconian wines.
Prichsenstadt is a uniquely preserved medieval town retaining over 70% of the town walls, watchtowers, moat and town gate. The town is circled on the north side by hectares of vineyards and the south is open farmland and forests.
The town has butcheries, bakeries, antique shops, a small grocery store, banks, and a pharmacy. As well as some lovely picnic and BBQ spots.
Prichsenstadt lies on the edge of the Steigerwald Nature Park which has kilometres of bike and hiking trails. The Steigerwald can be seen to the east, appearing like a range of hills from the Main River valley, but is in fact an escarpment. On top you will find a completely different landscape to explore. The town sits on the plains of the Main River, there are boat tours and plenty of castles and other historical building dotted around to explore.
