Comfortable cottage in a beautiful location.

  • 4 of 5

Family-friendly cottage. The owner was friendly, helpful and easy to contact with any queries. The children loved the Beatrix Potter themed room, which is also at a perfect height to do some bat watching at dusk, that was something special for our city kids. We appreciated the wifi as there was no mobile phone signal (but that's a bonus if you want to get away from it all). The location and surrounding areas are so beautiful and we enjoyed visiting some of the lovely little towns and sandy beaches nearby - Hope Cove, Salcombe and Thurlestone Rock. We really enjoyed our stay.

Cute, cosy cottage!

  • 4 of 5

Last minute booking which was very successful. Little difficult to find, tucked off the road, mid-terrace but perfect for the quiet, relaxing weekend we had planned! Roaring fire was great!

Tidy cottage in nice position within walking distance to beach

  • 3 of 5

Our first impression of the cottage was great and we loved the position being able to walk to the cove. Booking a little haphazard having to send cheques and chase up if they had arrived. Quality of fixtures and fittings is good , this place could be really great if only it were cleaned properly. The floors are absolutely filthy, several pairs of kids socks in the bin. The floors need steam cleaning not just a mop. The floor hadn't even been swept as my daughter found a lighter under one of the sofas. Most of the crockery is also chipped and the kitchen plug hole quite disgusting with plug and oven gloves missing making washing up and cooking difficult. The quilt on the top floor was also only a single on a double bed so we had to search out another single to use with it. Sofas quite uncomfortable and also dirty we used a duvet to sit on. Sky TV was a bonus though and the wifi worked well. Loved the area and would love to come here again but not to this property unless it were much cleaner. Owner easily contactable and did come round quickly and repair loose waste on bath which caused a leak. Bathrooms were clean and presentable and we loved the open fire as even in August the country nights were chilly. Lovely and peaceful too, we enjoyed the rest. I think this place could be fantastic if a little money and time were spent on it with a refurbishment/proper cleaning programme between bookings.

Owner's Response: Hi I take all complaints seriously . I leave overseas but was in Devon prior to guest arriving . The cottage was given a 'deep clean' . I witnessed it -and paid for it ! The bathroom floors were cleaned with strong products and the silicone replaced . The sofas were cleaned outside and the floors scrubbed . The dining room table was sanded down and re varnished. A new Webber BBQ and a new garden furniture was added . I find it disappointing to receive such a review but nowadays I am not surprised . Despite enjoying a fabulous weeks weather in an outstanding beautiful ... The only positive comment is ... It has SKY !!! Enough said

Spectacular views, Reasonable price, Modern!

  • 3 of 5

We've stayed at this property twice now and it perfectly suits our needs, the kitchen and bathrooms are lovely and modern and it has a very cosy feel to the place - especially with the fire! Such a reasonable price for what it is, and location is perfect for walking into Hope Cove and for dog walks! The view from the bedrooms and front garden in spectacular! The landlord is easily contactable and a pleasure to deal with. Would highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere simple and easy to stay.
