San Antonio is an exceptional, spacious and luxurious villa with a large private heated infinity eco-friendly pool set in a countryside location close to the bustling market towns of Sao Bras and Loule. Sleeping 10 with five bedrooms and four bathrooms, this is the perfect retreat for a family and friends holiday. The house has unbeatable views across the Algarve hills from the attractive and spacious shaded veranda, perfect for al-fresco dining. Accessed from a country lane into the private courtyard, this pretty bougainvillea clad two storey house welcomes you with lemon trees at the doorway. The spacious entrance has double oak doors which lead into the hall where a marble staircase takes you to upper floor Master Bedroom with En suite and Roof Terrace. Downstairs are 4 bedrooms, Living Room, Kitchen and Dining Room. The eco-friendly, low salt 12 x 6m pool, with Roman steps to the shallow end, is the central feature of this superb villa which is a delight for all ages. No chlorine eyes in this pool which can also be heated on request. The villa is surrounded by private gardens extending to 5 acres with numerous olive, carob and fig trees. All the bedrooms have ceiling fans and the master bedroom and second bedroom have air conditioning units.

About Justin Greaves

We live in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey and have 4 grown up children We built this villa 35 years ago to provide a second home and holiday destination for our growing family. We still use the villa as our holiday home and do our best to maintain it in tip top condition at all times. We have made improvements to the kitchen, pool terraces and garden areas in recent years and installed air conditioning to two bedrooms although the design of the house is such that much of the house stays surprisingly cool in the hot summer sunshine and we seldom use it. Last year we have refitted two bathrooms and installed pool heating for those Clients who require it.

Why Justin Greaves chose Algarve

We love this quiet country area around San Bras and surrounding villages where nothing much changes from year to year. Life slows down to an easy pace within a day or two of arriving and most days pass all too quickly with a visit to local markets, coffee bars, a trip to the beach or just lazing by the pool. Our favourite destination is always Fuseta where the best seafood for miles around can be had in the numerous little restaurants and waterside cafes. A short hop on the ferry takes you out to the pristine sands of the beach at Ilha da Armona.

What makes this villa unique

Quinta San Antonio has a large, private, heated eco-friendly infinity pool with unrivalled views across the Algarve Hills. Our Maid is an excellent cook and is happy to cook traditional Portuguese meals with a little advance notice and at very modest cost. We have a local English speaking Housekeeper who will meet you on arrival and deal with any problems during your stay. She can also arrange a welcome dinner or delicious evening meals at any time during your stay at a very modest charge.

Firstly i'd like to say that prior to our arrival Justin the owner offered great communication and was a joy to deal with. From the moment we walked through the villa entrance we knew that it was a special place. Our large group of extended family all quickly spread out in the very spacious villa with enough room to spare. Everything is very comfortable, spotlessly clean and also very well maintained, including the magnificent pool, which can be described in one word, wow! We were met by the lovely Mary-Lu who honestly could not be more helpful. Make sure you hire Jacinta to cook for you at least once during your stay, the food is exquisite and not to be missed. The surrounding area is just beautiful and has very easy access to the most wonderful beaches and beautifully charming towns. We will be back!

All the bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe space. The upstairs bedroom and one bedroom downstairs have air conditioning and all the other rooms have ceiling fans. There are vast shaded terraces along the front of the villa which are perfect for morning coffee and al-fresco dining. The brand new private infinity pool with eco-friendly low salt system is 12 x 6m with a deep end of 2.2m and a shallow end of 1m. It can be heated during Spring and Autumn. There are a series of Roman steps into the shallow end for children, a handy poolside shower and plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas. A stone poolside table is perfect for lunch or evening drinks. A path leads down to the tranquil olive grove which is great fun for children to explore! There is also a very handy built in BBQ. San Antonio is situated in woodlands and is surrounded by oleander, carob, olive and fig trees and has spectacular views across the surrounding hills. There are vast shaded terraces along the front of the villa which are perfect for morning coffee and al-fresco dining. There is also a very handy built in BBQ.

Fantastic stay at Quinta San Antonio

We stayed as a group of 10 adults and we have just returned from a fantastic week at the villa.

We had excellent communication from Tamar before and during the booking process and then in the run up to our arrival. Marylu the local property manager was very helpful throughout our stay at the villa and gave us plenty of recommendations for restaurants and things to do.

The villa was just as it appeared in the photos. The villa was a great size for 10 adults, the bedrooms were large and we had ample space on the dining areas and living room. The best thing about the property is the fantastic outdoor patio and swimming pool which was a great size. We spent most days around the pool. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and had everything we needed. The bathrooms were all large and well maintained. The maid came to the property to clean and did a good job, the villa was spotless. We also arranged for the maid to cook us dinner on one evening which was a nice touch.

The villa is in quite a remote location so it is very quiet and peaceful. It was about 25/30 mins drive to Faro and about 10/15 mins to Loule. São bras is only a few minutes drive away where we found a pizza place which did takeaways and an excellent steak restaurant.

We would definitely recommend!

Quinta San Antonio

The Quinta San Antonio is an extremely relaxing place to stay. The salt water cool is large and stunning - we happily spent many an hour by its side. The house itself is ideal for a trouble free holiday - everything was in good working order and we felt at home there. Marylu and Jacinta are both very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to be of assistance. Would highly recommend.

This is a very special property, spacious and with a pool second to none!

Away from the madding crowds of the Algarve but close enough to enjoy the benefits if you want them. Both ladies that look after you are also special.

Complete Luxury with Fantastic Portuguese Flavour

This was my second visit to Sao Bras to stay with a group of five friends. The villa was even better than before, they had just completed a beautiful Infinity Pool, so rather than venturing to the nearby beaches, we spent most of our days lazing around the spacious pool area and up on the terrace enjoying the beautiful views and having great BBQs.

The villa and our hosts have incredible attention to detail, from a luxury welcome basket on our arrival, wifi, aircon, to a great book detailing all the most amazing, rustic restaurants and gems to visit, the villa is immaculate both inside and out. You immediately feel relaxed and right at home.

I've experienced the villa and location as part of a couple and now as a group and can't fault it for its location in a real authentic location combined with luxury, value for money with a great Portuguese twist and can't wait to go back!

Everything you need to relax & enjoy

We are a family group of nine adults who enjoy the area and know it well and this villa is in the best group of villas we have stayed at. The entrance to the villa is the start of what you will find at this home from home. There is space within thve villa to spead out and that was with the nine of us. The kitchen area is as impressive with two fridge freezers so there is plenty of room to store food and drink. From here you go out onto the veranda with plenty of shade to enjoy the views and escape the midday heat, you like us could also start your day with an alfresco breakfast. Then you will notice the pool area. This has to be the best pool we have come across. It's a good length and depth so you can get the exercise to reduce the over indulgence in the food and drink departments. We also took advantage of the member of staff at the villa who is an experienced chef and this again was a delight, it also give the drivers a night off so they could relax and enjoy the night

All in all a villa to enjoy as all you could wish for is here the bedrooms and bathrooms are as good as the rest of the villa and the surroundings and garden make you appreciate the suclution that you find. We would hope to visit again and that is the recommendation we would give.

Beautiful villa

We have stayed here twice and love the villa the pool and the town of sao bras. Friendly hosts and nice food basket on arrival. Perfecr location for visiting all the local areas and close to faro airport. We will def be back we love it.

Our favourite and most easily accessible beach is at Fuseta about 20 minutes easy drive away, which is a charming unspoilt fishing village. The renowned sandy Algarve beaches are only ½ hour away with water sports facilities and beach side restaurants.

The local village, Alportel, is only a few minutes walk with café/bar, which is very popular with locals. Only 20 minutes walk away is the local beauty spot – Fonte Ferrea – yet to be discovered by tourists - which is an oasis of calm with its picnic area, fresh water springs, café, cork and eucalyptus trees.

Quinta San Antonio nestles on a lush, herb covered hillside between the coast and the mountains near to the market towns of Loule and Sao Bras de Alportel. This is the secret heart of the Algarve where wild almond, fig and pomegranate trees grow around villages whose simple charms and whitewashed houses give the feeling of having stepped back in time. Sao Bras has an Intermarche supermarket and a farmers market on Saturdays and there are plenty of bars and restaurants.

The pretty market town of Loule is only a short drive away with its daily covered market which is perfect for fish, seafood and local produce. There is a brand new large Continente supermarket (Portugal’s answer to Sainsburys). There are numerous small towns and fishing villages on the coast between Faro and the Spanish border – particularly worth visiting is Olhao, which is renowned for its fish market and numerous seafood restaurants, and the elegant town of Tavira with its roman bridge spanning the water and riverside restaurants.

There are lots of water parks and entertainment for children – the Waterslide Park at Quarteira and the very popular Zoomarine at Guia which is close to Albufeira, with dolphin displays, seals, sea lions and fascinating tropical birds.

We now have an Equestrian Centre just 500 yards from the villa providing horse and pony riding for all the family.

For those who are missing retail therapy the Forum Algarve is excellent for buying branded names (Zara, Pull & Bear) at excellent prices.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday during high season,.but flexible at other times. Check out time is 10.00 am on day of departure and check in is 2.00 pm. on arrival.

Optional pool heating charge £200 per week during the low season - not required June-Sept.
