This sunny, newly renovated former captains house, is situated in the quiet pedestrian heart from the bustling historic centre of Cadaques, one of the most unique authentic Spanish villages on the coast. The spacious living room is located next to a terrace with magnificent views over the bay, at 1 minute walking distance from the sea. Beside the TV and internet, there's also a Beamer and a large screen. Don't forget your DVDs! The large, well equipped kitchen (Nespresso machine; kitchenaid, etc.) is connected to a pleasant patio. Awesome home with beautiful views
We loved this place, and are determined to return. Jacqueline was a very good communicator and provided us great information well in advance of our arrival. Christine, her local host, met us at the entry to Cadaques and led us in our car to the house. Although parking is not possible immediately next to the house, there was available spaces close by. Of course there is no parking because this house is situated on a hillside tucked in among other houses and the walkways in between were not built for cars, nor would you want them there anyway. EVERYTHING you could want in Cadaques is just a short walk. Our favorite restaurant, Haiku, is the closest, and literally a 1 minute walk. Gelato, 15 other restaurants, grocery store - all within 5 minute walk through the lovely town, along the seafront. Even Dali's House in Port Ligat is only about a 12 minute walk away. Never drove our car once we parked it. The house is everything you see in the pictures. The master bed room off the kitchen is lovely with a great shower. The kitchen has all you need. The rooms downstairs were perfect for the kids, with their own bathrooms, tub, sinks, etc... But the BEST part of the house is the upstairs living room with very comfortable couches and chairs. The entire wall is 2 glass sliding doors which open completely up to a huge deck that overlooks Cadaques and the little bay. We spent 85% of our time in the home in this room and on this deck. WOW. great Wi-Fi, AC works great if you need it, water pressure fine - not one complaint, and again, we'd stay there again tomorrow if we could. Thank you for sharing your home Jacqueline, we will be back!
BEST HOUSE WE HAVE FOUND IN SPAIN...!!!
I rented the house for a family time with my two daughters, my wife and me, and I can say the house exceeded all our expectations; its simply gorgeous!! The sunset views from the terrace made our evening dinners a unique experience. The location is just perfect since it is a few steps from the beach, the town and most popular cafes and restaurants, while it is away from the bustle in a quiet and private corner. The owners Jacqueline and Ton were warm and caring of anything we needed. We supposed to stay for 2 weeks but we extended our stay for a month and yet, we are looking forward to go back again...!!!!
It was óur pleasure!
Thank you for visiting us!
Always most welcome,
Ton and Jacqueline
We had a great time in the beautiful townhouse. The fantastic view from the living room and the terrace. Well equipped and nice beds! We loved it!
We will come back for sure.
We spent our holiday in your beautiful house.
It's a warm, inspiring place, a few steps away from the beach and shops, bars and restaurants.
The patio is very cosy but the best was your terrace with the view over the bay!
Thank you very much we can't wait to come back!
Very best, Vero & family
Dear Vero and Family,
Thank you for your note!
We are very happy to hear you enjoyed staying in our house!
An enchanted place
I have stayed here before, but never this long. The house is very welcoming. Very well appointed without being overbearing. It is a kind house. Even when I had guests and we filled it do capacity (8) it never felt crowded. You are a couple of minutes from the town center. Five minutes from the supermarket. Life is easy. You can concentrate on the sunrises and the sunsets from the upstairs terrace. I can't wait to get back.
Special interest holidays: Cadaques remains the village of Dali. His bronze dominates the Rambla of the village. It is just a short walk to his fascinating house in Port Lligat where he used to spend his summers with his muse Gala receiving the rich and beautiful at their famous parties drowned in pink champagne. Now it is a museum open the whole year round. Also the Dalí Foundation in Figueras is worth a visit or the castle in Pubol, a gift of Dalí to Gala where he moved in after her death. The village is still a fascinating place for artists attracted by the special light and its many art galleries and summer festival. Coast/Beach: After a beautiful walk of just 1 minute, through the historic small streets, you reach the sea The special charm of this village is the numerous little baies in the centre and out of the village accessible by foot, bike, motor cycle or boat. You can swim, scuba dive, rent a kayak or RIB, scooter or bike, play tennis. Travel: Daily flights from UK to Gerona and Perpignan airports, which are an hour an ten minutes away by car. Barcelona takes two hours and 15 minutes and there is also a daily bus service. Distances: For large and sandy beaches go to Porte la Selva Roses or Ampuriabrava, 25, 30 minutes away by car respectively. Figueras is good 'Castell Perelada' is worth a visit. You can have a nice dinner before the performance in the romantic and beautiful garden of the castle. Or visit the numerous medieval villages like Castelló d'Ampurias, Besalu, Pals and the historic centre of Gerona and combine your visit with a lunch in the countryside. Further Details: In town you will find the Monday market, two supermarkets and many small shops selling fun clothing, jewellery and local pottery. There are several banks, two pharmacies, a dentist and a medical clinic. Cadaques has 43 restaurants which offer all kinds of food from catalan to Japanese. The famous nightlife of Cadaques is concentrated in a little street behind the Rambla with all kinds of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Most famous is Jazzclub Hostal at the Rambla. The interior did not change since the opening in the fifties.
