Pitlands Barns is an 1844 Sussex flint barn tastefully converted into three beautifully appointed luxury self catering holiday units. The Stables, The Granary and The Cart Shed (suitable for those with limited mobility) are all furnished to the highest standards and are situated on a working farm in the heart of the South Downs National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty. From the top of the farm on a clear day, there are stunning views of Chichester harbour and the Isle of Wight. Walk or cycle on the many footpaths and bridleways through ancient woodlands and beautiful countryside in the surrounding area.

The Granary is the most spacious of the three self-catering cottages and occupies the central part of the barn.

The two bedrooms on the ground floor have large windows with views of the garden area and woodland beyond.

One with twin beds (or a super king-sized bed) has an en-suite shower room and the other with a king-sized bed has an en-suite bath/shower room.

The first floor bedroom with king-sized bed and an en-suite bath/shower room, has a floor to ceiling window giving lovely views.

All bedrooms have TVs with freesat

The spacious open plan living area with vaulted ceiling and wood burning stove includes a dining area seating 16, a 40" TV, DVD player, iPod dock and CD player. The well-equipped oak kitchen with a second dining area seating 6, has a double oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher.

Large full height windows at either side of the barn give fabulous views both from the spacious entrance hall and the first floor gallery.

About Kelly Huxham

The Huxhams have been farming at Pitlands Farm since 1925. Pitlands Barns was converted in 2011 and Kelly Huxham has been welcoming guests ever since. The daughter in-law of Philip Huxham they both live adjacent to Pitlands barns and are always on hand to make your stay comfortable.

Kelly Huxham purchased this barn in 1949

Special interest holidays:

Goodwood Estate is 8 miles away with its horse racing, Festival of Speed and The Revival. Polo at Cowdray and horse racing at Fontwell are within easy reach too.

Coast/Beach:

West Wittering and Hayling beaches are about a 30 minute drive away.

Travel:

Portsmouth ferry port is a 30 minute drive away, Southampton airport is a 45 minute drive, and Gatwick is about a 90 minute drive away. It is a 20 minute drive to both Petersfield and Chichester train stations.

Walk or cycle on the many footpaths and bridleways through ancient woodlands and beautiful countryside in the surrounding area. These footpaths link to the Southdowns Way, a 100 mile footpath stretching from Winchester to Eastbourne. Cycle hire is available.

Notes on accommodation: All the units have underfloor heating throughtout with individual room thermostats. There are wood-burning stoves in the living rooms. Solar panels provide hot water and a rainwater harvester provides water for the toilets and washing machines. Free Wi-fi throughout, flat screen TV's with freesat in all bedrooms and living rooms. All kitchens include electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, fridge and freezer. All linen and towels are provided except for beach towels.
