House in Sedbergh, Nr. Kendal, Cumbria, England - Quiet Location Close To Pubs, Takeaways, Shops And Park
About Ross Davidson
We're from Newcastle and have two children who are currently both in further education. We initially bought Fell View in order to have more family holidays in an area we absolutely love going to. We can drive to Sedbergh in two hours which is close enough to let us have long weekends there or simply pop over for the day. We've got some very fond memories and wonderful pictures of our children playing in and exploring the surrounding area. We've always enjoyed going to Fell View and hope that our guests enjoy it as much as us.
Ross Davidson purchased this House in 2000
Why Ross Davidson chose Sedbergh
We'd been going to Sedbergh for family holidays for years and really enjoyed being there. It's about a two hour drive from home and quite easy to get to. We decided to buy a holiday home for ourselves to allow us to spend more time and our holidays there. We still use the house a lot ourselves when it isn't booked by other people. We've been renting Fell View as a holiday let for eleven years and we're always particularly pleased when people who've been previously book for further visits.
What makes this House unique
Sedbergh is located in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's easy to get to and is five miles from the M6. It's a fantastic base for visiting the Dales or going across to the Lake District. Alternatively, there's plenty of lovely walks and countryside almost directly from the front door. There's a great range of amenities in the town and a very good park close to the house.

Lovely Stone Cottage
Cottage was well situated in middle of town and off the main road. It was very clean and well equipped. Beautiful view of the hills and dales from the back of the cottage. Well maintained. I enjoyed my 3 night stay!

I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Sedbergh is a small town which has a good range of did, pubs, cafés and takeaways which are all less than five minutes from the front door.
The Howgills Fells at the back of the house are easy to access and there's loads of walks directly from the house.
Beautiful setting. Lovely walks and friendly pubs. The house was immaculate and spacious. Well equipped kitchen and lots of helpful info about the local area. Thanks!
Thank you for reviewing Fell View.
We try hard to make the house as clean and welcoming as we can for each of our guests. We've stayed in some properties where kitchen equipment is sparse and found that this detracts from our visits. As a consequence, we're determined to avoid this simple oversight and keep our kitchen well equipped.
I'm delighted you enjoyed your visit.
Lovely cottage, neat and tidy with everything we needed. Great location and didn't see even half of what the area had to offer. Walking to the top of the hills behind the cottage is a must, the veiws are more than worth the effort. Can recommend Santorinos for a takeaway. Most of the town was closed with it being bank holiday but was very pleasant just for a wonder around. Will hopefully make it back again to take in some more of the bits we missed.
Thank you for giving your review.
The hills (fells) behind the house are the Howgills. It's easy to walk directly from the house and follow one of the paths up the nearest fell, Winder. If the idea of gradient puts you off there's also a large number of relatively flat walks.
I can provide some details of other walks.
Lovely place to stay.
Really nice cottage. Clean and tidy. Owner is very helpful too. As long as you are prepared to drive for 45+ minutes, this is a cost effective way to spend time in the Lake District. That said Sedbergh is quaint in its own right. We are likely to stay here again.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your review.
Sedbergh is 18 miles from Windermere. On a good day the journey takes 30 minutes. On a bad day...
We usually stay in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and find there's plenty of interesting things to do and places to visit. A lot of our own use of Fell View is taking walks directly from the house.
A charming home in a charming town
My family and I absolutely loved our extended stay at Fell View. The home was warm and spacious and had everything we needed. The view from the house is magnificent and the garden area in the back was a perfect place for the children to play in the snow. The region and town are most lovely. We were happy to find everything was a short walk away. Thanks goes to Ross for providing us a beautiful experience of forging lasting family memories. We hope to return in the future!

I'm pleased that you and your family enjoyed it though I suspect it'll have been a bit colder than you're used to in Florida.
Perfect cottage for a family stay
This cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There was nothing we needed that wasn't present in the house. There was even a child safety gate which was a godsend to prevent the two year-old escaping up the stairs! The owner was most helpful settling any problems we had. All in all, a lovely cottage, in a charming village
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Fell View.
I've never heard of a stair gate being referred to as a godsend but I know what you mean.
We do try to ensure that the house is well equipped so that our guests have everything that they may need without having to transit tons of gear from their own homes.
Hopefully you found the park at the top of the street; it's ideal for younger children. There's also a number of open farms nearby which are all great fun.
Sedbergh has a full range of local shops, 3 pubs, restaurants. cafes and takeaways.
Fell View is 200m from the high street and very quiet.
