About Mrs Sonia Alden-mattey
Sonia and I both work full time; we have two young boys and have thoroughly enjoyed our holidays in Abruzzo over the last few years. We fell in love with the region when we first visited back in 2003, since then we have made Abruzzo our second home. We enjoy the relaxed pace of life we have found in Abruzzo compared to the hustle and bustle of our normal everyday lives in the UK. Every time we visit we seem to make new friends and discoveries, there is still so much more to this region of Italy we have yet to experience, I feel we have just skimmed the surface.
Mrs Sonia Alden-mattey purchased this Villa in 2005

We loved our stay. The house was well kept, well appointed, and well located. The pool was a joy -- as was the view. No complaints from this extended family!
Very comfortable retreat
5 of us ( 2 adults and 3 teenagers) made a 14 week stay between July 22 and August 5 2017. The accommodation was very clean and well presented - the mid visit cleaning of both pool and house was both welcome & excellent. The outside and pool are of a good size and provided terrific entertainment in temperatures that touched 38 degrees. The house is very well stocked with all the utensils and appliances you could ever need, the local shop is also well stocked with bigger supermarkets only 10-15 minutes away. I would advise to book ahead when eating out as you are in a rural location and off the main tourist track - but the quality is very good. The house is surrounded by a wonderful rural landscape yet the coast & tourist beaches are only 40-45 minutes away by car. We visited the coats several times and Pescara with its traditional tourist attractions is only an hour away. We travelled to the house from Rome Airport - much better to do from Pescara. All told an enjoyable stay in a relaxing and beautiful location
Hi Michael & Suzanne,
Thank you for your kind review. We also love the that the coast is only a short drive away equally so the mountains. In the spring you can be on the snow covered Passo Lanciano and by lunch time down on the coast enjoying seafood and sun shine.

Wonderful retreat in the mountains
We had a lovely week at Villa Rocca. The villa was very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Maria at the local shop was very friendly and helpful, and impressed that we knew who she was when we first went in! The weather was hot (32 degrees) so the pool was very welcome, with the water a perfect temperature. Fantastic views of the mountains from the pool area. We managed a day at the coast and a day trip to Rome, but enjoyed visiting the local villages just at much. In fact the real highlight was the walk up the valley from the top of Pennapiedimonte, starting near the Pinna Rock. Wonderful views and lots of beautiful butterflies. Just don't forget to take lots of water with you if it’s a hot day! Definitely hope to return one day.
Thank you for your kind review.
We too enjoy the mountain views and walks.
Maria at the local shop is so lovely. Her family can't do enough for you.
Thank you again and hope to see you back at Villa Rocca very soon.

Stunning location, all home comforts and more
Our stay at Villa Rocca, was superb. We were two families, with 5 teenagers/early 20's in the group. The villa has excellent flexibility accommodation with plenty of space. The house is spotless and very well equipped, especially for those that like to cook and prepare the local produce. Although the closest town is a 12 minutes drive away, Maria's shop can cater for virtually all your daily needs, including the excellent local wines. The local area is well worth exploring, both for walking and local restaurants.
Hi Ann, thank you for your kind review. We couldn't agree with you more, how friendly and helpful our local store owner Maria and family are. Hope to have you back again soon.

Immaculate relaxing villa
Two families with 4 teenage boys spent a wonderful week relaxing in and around the villa. We made the mostly the pool day and night and enjoyed the peaceful setting. The Villa was very well set up and Greg and Sonia have thought of everything including toilet by the pool and a warm water shower as well. The welcome treat was very much appreciated and a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend the villa and would love to return sometime in the future.
Many thanks once again, Scott and Susan Hill
Hi Scott and Susan, thank you for your kind review. We're glad you and the family enjoyed the Villa as much as we do. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

Ciao, molto buona!!
Second time for my family & I. The Villa and area ticks all our boxes. I travelled with my wife, we are in our forties, our 12 year old son, my mother who is 77, my 37 year old brother and his 3 year old daughter. Difficult to please all ages, but this villa was perfect for all and the area had something for everybody. I visited the Vatican, the sistine chapel, simply stunning, the colosseum and we spent many hours on a beautiful sandy beach and then dined on a trabocchi, that is an evening everybody should try once.
The Villa's facilities are impressive, everything is clean, modern and plentiful. the owners really have tried to give you everything your going to need.
Holiday perfection. Highly, highly recommended.
Hi Gary and Family, thank you for your kind review. Once again thank you for your custom and really pleased you and the family enjoyed the Villa as much as our family's do. All the best Greg & Sonia
