Now semi retired after running a European villa holiday company for over 30 years, my wife and I decided to run Beechwood House as a luxury holiday home for discerning guests visiting Cambridge.

We booked Beechwood House and one of the studios for a celebration of a family birthday. James was there to welcome us personally when we arrived. Everything was just perfect, including champagne on ice, chocolates, lots of fresh fruit and flowers. The Bates family.

Perfect place for a family reunion”

We were absolutely blown away by the property, and although the photos look lovely, they really don't do the property justice. The lounge was beautiful and there was plenty of room to hide away in to relax. The garden is massive, and was a wonderful space for the kids to have Easter egg hunts and the pool was a real bonus. James was a fantastic host, and the fruit, champagne and chocolates on arrival were a lovely surprise. We'll definitely be coming back! The Kenny family.

Idyllic place to stage a family get-together

We had an absolutely perfect family birthday weekend in this beautiful house and garden. It was ideal for us as a group and for young and old... a wonderful country walk on the Saturday, a pub lunch on the Sunday, delicious home-made meals provided by our family on two nights and two mornings, and multiple swims in the indoor pool for the two youngest and their mum.

We were also overwhelmed not only by the gracious space and decor of the house, and the delightful garden, but especially by the owners' generosity in leaving us flowers, chocolates, fruit and even a birthday cake! These caring and personal touches went way beyond the call of duty and made us feel so welcome.

We will definitely be recommending Beechwood House, and hope to return there one day ourselves.

Nearest beach is Hunstanton 58miles (90km), on the north Norfolk coast. This is a sandy beach, along with many others further up the coast: Wells, Sheringham, Cromer. On the Suffolk coast, Southwold is a popular pretty seaside town only 70 miles (110km).


London Stansted international airport 27 miles (43km). London Heathrow and London Gatwick are approximately an hour and a half by car, or there are excellent rail links to Cambridge rail or coach stations. Dover ferry terminal (for Channel crossings) is approximately two and a half hours by car, or Felixstowe ferry terminal (for North Sea crossings) is about an hour and a quarters drive. Whilst local amenities are in walking distance, it is recommended you have a vehicle for your stay.


Approx 150 metres to White Hart pub offering quality food and family atmosphere. 700 metres to village centre (see Further Details below). Cambridge city centre is only 4 miles (7km) away with numerous places of interest, and must-do activities like punting along the River Cam. Nearby towns also worth a visit: Saffron Walden, Ely, Bury St Edmunds. Some attractions & activities within south Cambridgeshire: Linton Zoo, Wimpole Hall & Home Farm, Duxford Imperial War Museum, Fowlmere nature reserve.

Further Details:

Fulbourn village offers 3 pubs/restaurants all together, a cafe/snack bar, co-op supermarket, butcher, takeaway food, chemist, beautician, florist. C of E parish church. Large Tesco supermarket less than 2 miles away, with free cashpoint. Cambridge Leisure Park at 3 miles offers ten-pin bowling, 9 screen cinema, gym, restaurants, bars and a live music venue/night club.
