Beautiful, clean, well equipped accommodation in a lovely quiet area.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 4 nights in July. The accommodation was first class, very clean and very well equipped. Room outside to park car and we also enjoyed eating in the garden at the picnic table. The kitchen has everything you need and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and clean. Only about 20 minutes from Alton Towers. We also visited lovely gardens at Stoke on trent and Peak Wildlife Park. We have 2 girls aged 5 and 2 and they loved it. The only one thing we missed was not having Wi-Fi but everything else was wonderful.

Ideal location for Leek and Buxton

  • 3 of 5

Lovely cottage and beautiful location. Could do with more comfortable furniture and more kitchen utensils and bedding. Can't fault cleanliness and cottage itself. Ideal location for Leek and Buxton.

Overall I recommend this cottage.

A beautiful barn conversion but shame about the uncomfortable furniture

  • 3 of 5

The owners have taken great care to convert the barn into a really cosy cottage, in a lovely village with a great pub within walking distance, but they let themselves down with awful cheap mattresses and uncomfortable chairs in the main sitting room. The equipment in the kitchen was lacking too. We couldn't even find a baking tray or cafetiere to make a fresh coffee. Such a shame to spoil the obvious love and care they've taken with the conversion. If they sorted out the furniture and made it a bit more homely we would've given it 5* as it is really cosy and in a lovely setting. The lack of a proper dining table was also an annoyance as we only had a half table in the kitchen right under the cupboard to eat on. I lost count of the number of times we banged our heads. Some soap in the toilet would've been welcome too. Despite the discomfort though, we did enjoy our weekend as it was such a lovely area but please don't spoil it with uncomfortable furniture when foam mattresses cost peanuts these days!

A great little cottage in a lovely location

  • 4 of 5

Just returned from a few days away with my father. We were blessed with amazing weather which always helps. The location of the cottage is brilliant for access to the Roaches, Leek, Buxton and the surrounding area.

The cottage was a great size for the two of us, was immaculately clean and really well equipped. The off road parking for multiple cars and outside space is great & often missing from smaller cottages so we appreciated that too.

The beds are comfy & my dad had no trouble at all in the bunk bed - perfectly fine for an adult. The only thing he struggled with with his bad leg were the seats at the breakfast bar in the kitchen - luckily it was such lovely weather we were able to moved and eat outside.

As the ex owner of a holiday cottage myself I know customer feedback is always helpful so my honest negative feedback would be :

The seating in the sitting room could do with reviewing. Plenty of it for two of us but not great for relaxing - Three bolt upright bucket type seats with low backs and one old saggy sofa.

A few wooden spoons or similar would be a great addition in the kitchen too - there was nothing really other than a metal serving spoon to stir things in the pans while they were cooking.

Also in the kitchen some smaller bowls for serving fruit or a little bit of ice cream would be great. The ceramic bowls were a bit big.

Other than that (Oh and a woodburner would be ace!!) everything was great - thank you.
