I grew up in East Prawle and still have family and friends in the village. It is a beautiful location, remote and peaceful.

What makes this house unique

The 180 degree views of the sea are amazing. The house is of modern build and warm and comfortable with big windows. It is set into the cliffs below the village, a short walk away. The access road to the house is private and very quiet, the coastal path is only a field away. Walking, birdwatching, star gazing, fishing off the rocks and beaches are all on your doorstep.

Just perfect for our group.

We were six adults and five children and two dogs and we stayed at Sharpers House for a weekend. The house is very spacious and has a lived in quality which meant we were not constantly worrying about what the children were doing. The views and the walks were great. Must stay longer next time!

A large 70s style property with fabulous sea-views

Sharpers is a very big house with more than enough room for the 10 people in our party. In addition to the spacious main kitchen diner and lounge downstairs, there's an additional lounge and kitchen upstairs. Furnishings are dated however the property is clean and tidy.

The small village of East Prawle is a ten minute walk up a steep hill and the centrepoint is the Pigs Nose Inn which is friendly, packed full of character and offers reasonably priced food and drinks.

Access to the coastal path is in front of the house and leads down a stony bridleway to a beach as well as coastal walks farther afield. We enjoyed hunting for crabs, starfish and fish in the rock-pools on the local beach with our 8 and 11 year old boys.

We found the beds and pillows comfortable. A couple of the fixtures, like the patio door and garage door need attention but overall we found the house comfortable, inviting and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

A True Gem

Once again had a wonderful stay at Sharpers, my family love this house, which is not only cosy but extremely spacious and has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. We have been staying here once or twice a year since 2010. The views are stunning and the veranda is great for family gatherings. Once again we were lucky with the weather, sunshine all week! We discovered this wonderful part of the world first in 1967, when we stayed in the Coastguard cottages on the point. Since then we have stayed in several cottages in and around Prawle, year in year out, until we discovered Sharpers, which has become our favourite. This was the 50th anniversary of our 1st visit to Prawle with 41 of the family staying in several cottages in the village. We love the fact that the area has barely changed in all that time and all enjoy the walks along the coastal path and evenings in the Pigs Nose Inn. Looking forward to returning to Sharpers in Sept 17 and hopefully for many more years to come. Thanks Felicity for letting us share this lovely home.

Wonderful house and setting

The accomodation allowed a number of alternative sleeping arrangements. The downstairskitchen is very good with plenty of room and views out. The upstairs frying pans need replacing. The bathrooms are good but the pull switches both need replacing...I did a temporary repairon both and they had been done before. The stair carpet join at the top of the stairs was holding by a thread and it finally gave and needs repairing. The washing line post was broken by a gust of wind as it was very rusty. It needs replacing. The table on the balcony has peeled drastically and needs scraping. Even with these problems the house is generally very good and we would go again. We have already recommend our relations to go and they are booking for next year.

We mostly loved the countryside and walks to various beaches.

wonderful week in June

Just back from a wonderful week staying in the ground floor of Sharpers House. The views of the coastline from all front windows are superb, the house is very spacious, with excellent large kitchen area, and the house kept cosy all day with central heating. We went for a week to relax, walk and bathe on sandy beaches. The coastal path is less than 10 minutes away and our favourite beach, Maceley Cove under Gammon Head, only 25 minutes away, so we hardly used the car. We can thoroughly recommend this for anyone wanting to get away from it all, you will come back really refreshed.

Closest beach is two fields walk down a steep hill (not accessible by car) about 10 minutes downhill and 15 minutes return. Coastal path one field away, with many secluded beaches in both directions. Walking time to Salcombe Estuary approx 1hr 30mins. Drive to Salcombe beaches 5 mins.

20 minutes from Kingsbridge, 35 minutes from A38. Closest train station Totnes, airport Exeter. Public transport very limited, car hire recommended.

Distances:

East Prawle 5 minute walk. Kingsbridge 20 minutes. Dartmouth 30 minutes.

Salcombe (via passenger ferry) 10 minutes.
