The Byre is a light and airy studio flat converted from a farm building, and forms part of a Grade II listed property. The apartment comprises of a kitchen/dining area with the shower room leading off. The bed can be made up as a double or two singles. outside the property is a seating area which is south facing and gets the sun most of the day and there is ample parking in front of the property. Pets are welcome and we have fields they can be exercised in ( ask on arrival )

About Mick Battye
Your hosts, Mick and Maddy, bought Boxbush Farmhouse in 1995 as a family home. All the children have now left home so we now share it with our cat Smokey, dog George, two horses and some chickens which keep us busy. We enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and never tire of the scenary.

Why Mick Battye chose East Pennard
We love a challenge and Boxbush Farm was just that. A Grade II listed building, which had not been lived in for 8 years, had no water or electricity and was in a poor state of repair. We did all the renovation ourselves (apart from the thatching) We have solar PV panels on the stable roof which produce electricity for us. One of the reasons for buying it was the view we get over the Somerset Levels, and we enjoyed living in such a peaceful location.

The network of footpaths and tracks make excellent walking of all standards including The Monarchs Way, the escape route of Charles II.

Cosy and perfect
We were met by the owner and there was parking available. The property is very cosy - one room with a double which they had kindly separated into twins for us. Lovely kitchenette with plenty of cutlery, china and cooking utensils. The bathroom was lovely. There is a table and chairs outside and in a really sunny spot. The owners had left plenty of info for us and some lovely drinks. Thank you so much for such a great stay.

The property was great for our trip to the bath and west , although compact it had everything you needed . The owners were very helpful.
Perfect compact self catering studio apartment for solo traveller
Very attractive small self catering holiday apartment on a smallholding. A beautifully converted cow byre, consisting of one room with a kitchenette, dining table, small settee, and double bed (which can be split into 2 single beds) plus a shower and toilet through a door at one end. Ideal for one person, or two people happy to share a small space. It is very clean, light, comfortable and well equipped, with patio table and 2 chairs outside. It overlooks a cobbled yard where there is parking and a pretty courtyard garden. There are lovely country views from the orchard behind the Byre. The owners are friendly and provide a warm welcome. Their cat, dog, horse and chickens are friendly too! It is easy to find and very well placed to visit numerous local attractions including Wells, Shepton Mallet, Wincanton and NT Stourhead. Perfect for a short break, but even better for a whole week!
Cosy little barn
We had a lovely stay at the Byre, warm and cosy and decorated to a high standard, could not ask for more. Out 2 dogs loved the heated floor!
Excellent mini-apartment in the countryside
I needed a quiet pied-a-terre while I attended a motorcycle show at Bath & West showground - this exceeded my expectations. Good communication on booking, easy directions, and a cosy comfortable interior - warm even on a very cold winter weekend. All the necessary equipment and a well fitted shower and toilet. Oh, and a very comfortable bed, everything well laid out. Hosts very helpful and accommodating
Fantatsic Break Away
Just what we needed, a lovely break away from the city, the property was very clean and the bed very comfortable. There are lots of lovely walks in the area, and Milo our dog had a ball!!!
Travel: Nearest railway station is Castle Cary (6 miles) use of car recommended. Distances: Glastonbury, Wells, Castle Cary and Shepton Mallet all within a 20 minute drive and Bath 40 minutes.
