Mona House is a 4 bedroom Victorian terraced house sleeping 8+2 in 4 bedrooms. Recently refurbished, it provides the comforts of a modern home whilst still retaining period features. The accommodation is particularly suited to a larger family or a 2 family gathering. It is also suitable for groups of adults, sleeping up to 8 max in separate beds. It is a 3 minute level walk from the town centre, 10 minutes from the lake and within a short walk of the leisure pool, play parks and family cycle track. We have set the house up to be used as we use it - as a base to enjoy The Lakes' outdoors. There is storage space in the house for kit, lots of walking and cycling guides together with things like local weatherproof maps, picnic boxes and flasks etc. We also provide information to help you make decisions on where to go and what to do which saves you valuable time, especially over a weekend. Free wifi. No loud music / partying allowed in the house at any time and sorry no pets.

I live in Yorkshire with my wife and 2 young children. I have spent the last 8 years primarily caring for the children and Mona House is the result of one of my several 'projects' which have helped keep me sane during that time! Keswick is a place I have known since childhood - first as a camping destination, later for it's mountain biking and fell walking and now as a great place for family adventures.

The house came to our attention primarily because it's sale kept falling though. When we bought it in 2009 it had rising damp, a leaking roof and many other problems which needed attention - which meant we could afford something we'd never dared dream of. Undeterred by the work we bought it and employed a local builder to drag it back to life...and I myself spent many evenings camped out on the building site floor. For us, the main attraction of Keswick is that it's a place where we can access all we'd want to do without having to travel more than 15 minutes (if at all). In the immediate area there's walking, cycling, boating/watersports, a climbing wall, play park, cinema, theatre, swimming pool, shopping, eating and of course endless rounds of crazy golf!

Loved Mona House
Just left Mona house, it was better than expected ,very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of room and best of all fully supplied kitchen with everything you could need to cook for 8-10 people. Just a few min walk from Main Street too. We had wonderful weather and loved Keswick too. Nigel was a great communicator too! We would definitely stay here again and recommend Mona House to anyone!

Wonderful property in the heart of Keswick, clean, comfortable and very well equipped
We loved our stay at Mona House. The property was large and really well equipped for our two families, totalling 9 people. The beds were super comfortable and the bathrooms were lovely. Everywhere was very clean and tidy.
The property is also well located, very near to the centre of Keswick with all its charming shops and facilities.

Great location, quality property
This is an excellent house situated very centrally in Keswick. It is fully equipped with everything you could need, has great WiFi and was immaculately clean.
Keswick itself has lots of interesting shops, cafes and restaurants and is surrounded by lots of walking opportunities.
Nigel was a great host and very helpful throughout the booking process.
Great accommodation, top location, excellent host
Mona House is spacious, clean and modern and had everything we needed. Stayed here with my wife, 7-month-old son & my parents and we all loved it. Was great to have a high-chair and a travel cot (really easy to assemble) already there for us. Nigel contacted us on the evening of our arrival to check we had all we needed and again before we left to check all was ok (which it was). The house is very conveniently situated for walking into Keswick & for hikes in the surrounding area - we only used our car once during our stay. Would definitely stay here again!

Had a good weekend staying here. The house was perfect, great location for both the hills and to get into Keswick.
St Bees has an excellent 'Blue Flag' beach around a 45 minute drive away. It's a good place to visit on a longer stay if you get bored of mountains and lakes!
By car - Keswick is 20 minutes from the M6 Junction 40 (Penrith) which is the fastest route from north or south. It is 50 minutes from Junction 36 (Kendal).
By rail - The nearest main railway station is Penrith which is 20 minutes drive from Keswick. Penrith is on the west coast mainline and as little as 3 hours from London Euston.
By Bus - Keswick has a bus station linking with major towns - Carlisle, Penrith, Workington etc. Local hopper buses operate to local villages & activities.
Keswick is a small town situated in the north Lakes on Derwentwater and in the shadow of Skiddaw and Blencathra. There are many walks from the front door of the house, both low level and up onto the fells. There is also sailing, canoeing and rowing on the lake and a forest centre with mountain bike trails, ropes course and adventure playground just 10 minutes away. The town is particularly good for younger families with a leisure pool with waves and slide, new play park, level cycle path, bmx pump track, cinema, crazy golf, climbing wall and the lakeshore beaches all within a short walk of Mona House. There’s plenty to do without ever having to leave the immediate area and even without moving the car!
