Sleeps 5/7. Two bedroom luxury wooden beach house in Croyde. Very family and pet friendly! Set in large private gardens and recently refurbished, with off-road parking for 2 vehicles. There is a decked area in the back garden, complete with garden furniture. A great sun-trap for relaxing! 1 double bedroom, and 1 with double + single bed. Additional large sofabed in living room. Light and airy open-plan living area, inc. large woodburner (with optional fireguard), comfortable seating, and a separate dining area. The newly fitted kitchen has all mod cons for your convenience, inc. electric oven and hob, dishwasher, and washing machine/dryer. Croyde's Blue Flag beach is only a ten minute walk through the sand-dunes. Croyde village is also ten minutes walk. Braunton village with all its lovely independent shops plus a new supermarket is 5 mins drive away. Electricity, heating, linen and towels are all included. Highchair and cot provided.

My name is Sian Gibbon and I live in Shropshire with my husband and three young children aged 6, 4 and 3. We spend many holidays in Devon and use Surf's Up as our holiday home.

Why Mrs Gibbon chose Croyde

We love Croyde because it has such a lovely beach and pretty village. Everything is compact and close at hand, and and the flat pedestrian pathways make getting around very easy.

There is really something for everyone: world-class surfing, watersports and golf; beautiful coastal walks and the Tarka cycle trail; and ice-cream shops, rock-pooling and friendly pubs and cafes galore!

There are lots of places of interest nearby: adventure parks for children, National Trust properties and endless breath-taking coastal spots.

Croyde is a very straightforward drive from the M5 motorway, and once here everything in the village is walkable.

What makes this chalet unique

The house is right next to the sand dunes and beach at Croyde. From our gate it is a short stroll to either the beach and dunes, South West coast path or village centre. There is plenty of parking too, with a driveway and large grass verge.

The house has a lovely large garden looking towards the beach, with a decked patio area and outside table, chairs and parasol. There are secure wooden gates, so you can relax if you have active children or pets running around.

We provide all linen and towels, and all electricity and even logs for our cosy wood-burner are included! The house has been totally refurbished since we bought it in 2010, with a fully-fitted kitchen, dishwasher, washer-dryer and microwave.

We provide a fireguard, high-chair and travel cot for young families.

Notes on accommodation: Woodburner plus electric panel heaters in all rooms. Heated towel rail in the bathroom. Outside: Good sized private garden with lawns and a sheltered sitting area. The garden is ideal for sunbathing or simply relaxing with a glass of wine. It is completely enclosed and small children and pets can play in safety. There is a deck patio area with table, parasol and chairs for dining and relaxing outside. Private Parking for 2 cars (drive + verge). There are plenty of drying areas for wet suits and outdoor gear under a covered car port and on a rotary line in the garden. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen are included, including bedding, bath + hand towels and tea towels. The property is professionally cleaned once a week, when linen and towels are changed.

My friend and I booked 'Surf's Up' for a week's relaxing break with our dogs. We very much enjoyed our stay. It felt spacious yet cosy and was clean and well equipped. The beds were very comfy (haven't slept so well in years!) and it was a rare treat having two double beds! Our dogs loved having the run of the, good sized, garden with the added bonus of a high wall which makes it very private. Croyd beach is a short walk away and, when dogs aren't allowed (May to Sept inclusive), Saunton beach is only a short drive.

Having rented other similar properties in the area, I have no hesitation in recommending 'Surf's Up'. It's head and shoulders above the competition!

We needed a holiday home all on one level, due to me having MS. Surf's Up was perfect. What a lovely property, equipped with everything you need and more besides. The owner was very helpful and friendly and could not have done more for us. Surf's Up is ideally situated for all the North Devon beaches and places to visit, and the views nearby are stunning. The large garden is fully enclosed, which our two Cavaliers loved! There is plenty of room for parking, the decor in the property is light and bright, with a seaside feel, the furniture is very comfortable and the bed with it's memory foam mattress is wonderful, I slept really well, quite an achievement for me! We can't wait to book another holiday in Surf's Up.

The Beach House was lovely, modern, clean and cosy -dog friendly and exactly what we were hoping for. Close to the beach and village and although Croyde is a no dog area in the summer, you can head for Crow Point, Hele Bay or Saunton. The Thatch pub hasn't changed in 30 years( which for those of us who grew up here is lovely), theres a great pub in Georgeham for food ( family friendly). Despite the weather being a bit lively, we had a lovely break and would come back her again-in fact like previous reviewers I was planning on all the bits I would do to the place!!! Thanks

We had a lovely short break at Surf's Up. The accommodation is excellent and ideal for the dog with the secure garden. The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped We enjoyed the log burner. Ideal for walking to the beach although dogs are not allowed from May to September. We would highly recommend it and wished we owned it ourselves!

Fantastic dog friendly holiday home

We absolutely loved this holiday home. It is comfortable and homely and extremely dog friendly with it being on one level, having a large enclosed garden and access to plenty of walks.

It is perfect for those who want to be near the beach, which is just a a few minutes through the sand dunes. However, for those with dogs you will need to go a little further afield as Croyde is a No dog zone during the summer.

We also really liked the log burner to snuggle up next to in the evening!

The famous Croyde Blue Flag beach is only a ten minute walk through the dunes. Perfect for everyone from young families to serious surfers.

Putsborough and Woolacombe beaches are only a couple of miles away.

Saunton Sands beach is 5 minutes drive away, and attracts kite-surfers and surfers. All these beaches have good cafes and facilities.

Baggy Point and the Coast Path provide excellent walking, with truly breath-taking views. Great for dog walkers too!


Car is recommended, but not essential. Croyde beach, sand dunes, village and the Coast Path are all walkable from the house.

There is an excellent bus service from the main road to Braunton, Barnstaple, and Ilfracombe among other places. There are even open-top buses too!

The nearest train station is at Barnstaple, linking to the national rail network.

Nearest airports are Exeter, Newquay and Bristol.


Croyde village is a short level walk away, with a village grocery shop, post office, and a good range of surf shops. It also boasts some excellent pubs and restaurants, such as The Thatch.

Braunton is 4 miles away, and has a great range of independent shops (groceries, post office, hairdressers, toy shops etc). There is also a large superstore.

The larger town of Barnstaple is 10 miles away, with all the large high street shops you would expect, plus a cinema and theatre. Train station.

Changeover Day:
Our changeover day normally Friday, Saturday during summer holidays.
Guests should depart by 10 a.m. on their departure day. Guests may arrive from 4 p.m. on their arrival day. There is no problem with late arrival, as we have a key safe for visitors.

Notes on prices:
Weekend and short breaks available:

10th January 2014 - 3rd April 2014.
31st October 2014 - 18th December 2014.

A deposit of one third of the full amount is payable upon booking.
The remainder is due 8 weeks before the holiday.
