At any time of the year, Pound Barn provides the perfect holiday home from which to explore the South Hams, renowned for coastal walks, beaches and pretty villages. The peace and tranquility of the property is ‘medicine for the soul’ and yet it’s just a stone’s throw from restaurants, shops and visitor attractions. The magnificent terrace offers al fresco dining, views of the garden and a sun deck for that glass of wine before dinner. A stroll up to the top of the hillside garden rewards you with breath-taking views of the surrounding countryside and the River Dart.

Mrs Lea Druttman
About Mrs Lea Druttman
We bought Pound Barn in 2004 when it had already been lovingly restored from a farm building into a family home with oak floors and beams. But the three acre plot outside was a blank canvas and since then we have had so much pleasure in creating our beautiful garden with its pond and rich variety of shrubs and flowers that change with the seasons. We recently improved the kitchen and built the stunning south-facing terrace which runs the length of the back of the house. We spend half our time out here - relaxing, eating, drinking, maybe a little weeding ... We live and work in London but visit our holiday home as often as possible, usually once a month. Our family and friends love it too but we are happy to share it with guests all year round as it's a house that needs people.

Why Mrs Lea Druttman chose Dartmouth
When our three children were little, we spent many happy holidays in Devon so when it came to looking for a holiday home, we naturally gravitated to the South West. We couldn’t believe it when we found the perfect property in the beautiful South Hams, nestled in a valley surrounded by soft farmland hills and even a view of the River Dart. We love the peace of the place, the smell of the earth and the freshness of the air and yet it’s so close to Dartmouth and all the amenities you could ever wish for.
What makes this Barn unique
When we are at Pound Barn, we love to potter around busy Dartmouth, to walk along the coast and gaze out at the ever-changing sea. But most of all, we enjoy the privacy and tranquility of our home and delight in the garden. The terrace has hugely enhanced the property as it encourages inside/outside living in Devon's famously mild climate.

Wonderfully tranquil holiday.
We loved our chilled time at this beautiful Devon accommodation. The property was immaculately clean, warm and welcoming. The kitchen was spacious and well equipped, beds were super comfy and everything we needed was ‘to hand’. The barn has the most incredible garden - full of spring flowers during our stay - with a stream running through and plenty of room to wander around or just sit and chill. Just what we were looking for after a busy spell at home!
spacious family home, with lovely garden
We had a great time here, lovely space for the kids to enjoy, with a fantastic kitchen that they were all able to cook together which they loved and saved us a job! great garden, which was perfect for our easter egg hunt!
Brilliant place to stay for a family get together
The barn is perfect for an adult get together. Plenty of space, great for partying and big family meals. Kitchen was the heart of the home, but the lounge was also very comfy and homely. The ping pong table in the shed up the garden was great for some competative fun. Garden and patio areas must be beautiful in the summer, but steep steps and deep pond would not be suitable for children. We had a fantastic big family Christmas, the house was well equipped for big meals. Would definately recommend the barn, very clean and tidy and beds were all comfortable. The barn gets VERY warm, we were boiling all the time and had to turn the heating off in December! The farm track to the barn is abit scary to start with, but once you've done it a few times you get used to it! Location good for Dartmouth, Salcombe, Totnes, Kingsbridge and Slapton etc.
Amazing property in a great location. Fantastic for larger families. Everything you could need.
This is an amazing property with several amazing outside spaces to enjoy the sunny weather and alfresco dining. The garden in on a hill but offers many different area to explore. The track to the property is very steep and not very well maintained and needs to be driven with care but worth the ride. Everything you would need is provided to a high standard and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Highly recommend this property to anyone viewing.
Lovely location, beautiful house.
Perfect for a week away as a family. Tranquil setting and good amenities. Would recommend.
The most wonderful relaxing place I've stayed in the South Hams, we visit this area every year, and stay in different villages but it will take something special to tempt me away from Pound Barn next year.
If there's one drawback it's the lane leading to the cottage, quite tricky to get up and down, apart from that perfect!
Thank you for letting us stay and I hope we can visit again next year
