The cottage is in a lovely location on a bridlepath away form traffic but only two miles from local pubs and shops. Other amenities close by are shops, cafes, lake, canal,mountains, outdoor pursuits, canoeing, horse riding. Or you can just relax in the garden and enjoy the lovely surrounding countryside. The garden is lovely and private with an old apple tree, patio area with seating and umberella and a rustic barbecue suitable for logs fires long after food cooked!

About Audrey M Oakley

Tom and I would love to welcome you to our lovely, homely cottage where we hope you will enjoy a relaxing and peaceful holiday. This cottage is new to the holiday let market as we like to go there often ourselves it is so lovely. We live 20 miles away, about 30 mins, so if you need us we can be there very quickly. There are many activities such as walking from the cottage up onto the hills, horseriding, sailing on Llangorse lake, canal boats from Brecon, canoeing on the River Wye, shopping in Brecon or visit the Theatre or cinema. Relax and browse around the book shops of Hay-on-Wye, or shop in the small boutiques and have a coffee or lunch in one of the local cafe's /restaurants/pub.

Why Audrey M Oakley chose Wales

I bought the property in 1998 because of its wonderful location. Down in a dingle surrounded by lovely countryside and limited traffic as its on a bridlepath. It has been my home since then and as such is fully equiped and very cosy with much more than the basic holiday cottage such as books, cds etc. The cottage is lovely and secluded off the beaten track yet only 3 miles from Talgarth with shops and 8 miles from the nearest town of Brecon. There are two fabulous country pubs within 2 miles who serve good real ale and do lovely foood and have fab log fires.

Peace and serenity. Nature. Cosy log fire and comfortable sofas etc

Notes:
Outside: Outside the south facing garden is private and has a stream running through it with a small bridge over to the log shed. It has a very old apple tree, lovely to sit under and enjoy the shade, and plum trees and a small woodland garden. The rest of the garden overlooks fields and there is also rustic barbeque. There is a patio with garden furniture and other garden seats dotted around the cottage in lovely spots. There is a small summer house. ideal Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All bed linen and kitchen linen is included and changed weekly, but you will need to bring your own towels. The cottage is cleaned weekly. Other: Lovely, warm and bright south facing conservatory with lovely views of the garden, stream and surrounding fields.

Wonderfully peaceful cottage handy for Brecon

Very quiet and comfortable and lovely to have the woodburner for when the weather was typically Welsh. Loved the garden with the stream trickling through and the wildlife visiting - bats, buzzards, owls and redstarts and not a single traffic sound

Coast/Beach:

Only 55 miles from Cardiff and the Gower which has lovely beaches.

Travel:

Cardiff airport is approximately one and half hours away. Bristol Airport is also one and a half hours away.

Distances:

The closest village is Llyswen two miles with a great pub for food and ale and dog friendly. Talgarth is about three miles away and has many more shops such as local butcher, spar, bakery, fish and chips. Brecon is 8 miles away with large supermarkets, markets, bakers, cafes, coffee shops, restaurants and market. Hay on wye is also about 9 miles away with great shops and cafes.

Further Details:

There are two lovely country pubs, with log fires, approximately two miles in either direction from the cottage. They both serve good food and real ale.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is fairly flexible, but in general it is after 3pm on a Friday to leave by 10.00am on day of departure.

Notes on prices:
We also rent for short breaks a minimum of 2 nights from £80 per night depending on time of year.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
