Set in an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' our very comfortable, luxurious and cosy cottages are surrounded by stunning valley views. The Old Dairy has the most beautiful vista, terrace and large private garden all to yourselves and is detached. The Courtyard (semi detached with the owners) has the cutest of a country garden with seating and dining table. Both properties have enclosed parking and are unoverlooked. They are adjacent to each other across a large courtyard and have everything for a relaxing and romantic get away. Snuggle in next to the log burning stove and you just won't want to go outside! The decor and furnishings are beautifully maintained and our guests comfort is a priority. Timble village is the perfect base for touring The Yorkshire Dales and all it's treasures. Surrounded by Harrogate, Pately Bridge, Ripon, Ilkley and Skipton. There's so much to see and do and lots of reasons to return. The general area is very well suited for walkers, cyclists, fishing, golfing or just relaxing. Situated in the village of Timble in Nidderdale it is only a 2 minute walk from the local excellent restaurant and pub. The properties are perfect for 2 couples who wish to holiday together but require seperate accommodation.

Private dining is available for special occasions or if you have had a busy day touring!

About Dawn Meeks

My little 'cottage' industry started in 2002 when myself and my husband decided to restore a very run down but beautiful Yorkshire stone barn on our property.

The Old Dairy was completed and has been such a success that in 2013 we opened our new cottage 'The Courtyard. Still part of our barn conversion and adjacent to The Old Dairy the cottages are perfect for 2 couples who like to holiday together but prefer their own 'space'.

Our ethos in the new cottage was to create a beautiful space in the former school mistresses house. 'Affordable Luxury' was our focus and we are delighted with the outcome.

I offer a unique catering service whereby I can cook and serve a freshly cooked evening meal to you in one of the cottages. Our website has full details of the current seasonal menu.

Why Dawn Meeks chose Otley

Although we have owned the property since 1997 The Old Dairy Cottage was only converted in 2002. Once a former outbuilding and dairy the restoration was needed to preserve the structure. The reason I have chosen to have a holiday cottage in this area is that it is just the perfect environment for relaxing, walking, cycling and to tour around and enjoy the wonderful things The Yorkshire Dales has to offer. Situated in a dedicated area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' the views from the cottage take a lot to beat. It's actually so good that I live next door! It's like being on holiday for me 365 days of the year.

The success of The Old Dairy encouraged us to open 'The Courtyard' in March 2013. We just couldn't supply the demand for luxury accommodation and regularly had to turn enquiries away. 3 months of hard work converting another part of our property produced The Courtyard Cottage but was well worth the effort. We are delighted with the outcome!

What makes this cottage unique

Perfectly situated for touring around Yorkshire and no more than a few miles from most of the major places of interest. Harrogate, Skipton, Ilkley, Ripon, York, Grassington, Masham etc. etc. the list is endless.

The village of Timble has a wonderful local pub/restaurant serving great food. With it being only a 2 minute walk from the cottage there is no need to drive out for a meal.

Alternatively, I can serve an evening meal in the cottage. My catering business has the necessary permits to allow me to offer this service. All freshly cooked using local ingredients this is a facility quite unique to holiday cottages.

Notes on accommodation: 24 hour laundry service available. Evening meal private dining available. All towels, tea towels, bath robes and slippers and linen are included. The property is cleaned and linen changed weekly for stays over 1 week. Towels are replaced and refreshed to suit the guests. The OldDairy is suitable for guests who require accommodation on 1 level. There is only 1 step into the cottage and the remaining floor throughout is all 1 level. Not suitable for wheelchair users. We have a no smoking policy inside the cottages and are unable to accept pets. The Courtyard has an upstairs bedroom and is not suitable for guests who are unable to climb stairs. Outside: The Old Dairy has it's own private garden which is mainly lawned with surrounding flower beds. Yorkshire dry stone walls surround the property and the cottage has 2 sets of patio doors leading out onto the stone terrace. Garden furniture is available both on the terrace and in the garden. A BBQ is available for use. The Courtyard also has it's own private outside seating area. Garden furniture and BBQ are available too. The area is surrounded by Yorkshire dry stone walling and the pretty garden is planted with cottage flowers and shrubs.

Definitely a Beautiful Luxury Yorkshire Cottage!

The cottage was warm and welcoming when we arrived, with the log fire already lit. It had everything we could have wanted, I couldn't fault it any way. Perfect for a long weekend or a week away in the Yorkshire Dales, with fantastic views and walks straight from the door - plus a pub one minute's walk away! I would definitely stay here again it was wonderful.

Perfect. Quiet and tranquil yet close to city and countryside attractions

A wonderfully warm welcome, a gorgeous evening meal, cosy and perfect accommodation all made for a restful long weekend. Perfectly nestled between the Dales and the shopping centres of Harrogate and York we were never stuck for something to do or see but at the end of the day smiled to know we were returning to relaxing environment. There are plenty of eateries in the area and would definitely recommend "The Fleece Inn" in Nothallerton.

We will most definitely be returning to this haven.

Fabulous, luxurious and extremely clean home away from home!

What a fabulous, cozy yet luxurious, extremely clean cottage! It was a wonderful place to relax with a cozy dual fuel stove, and amazingly comfortable bed! All the amenities one could possibly need. Lots of walking straight out the front door in an idyllic hamlet so even though it is quiet it isn't too remote. Harrogate is nearby and lots to see in the area. Dawn and Barry are fabulous hosts who are available if needed but leave you to it if that is what you want. Highly recommended! We will be returning!

Wonderful property and location

What a great find. The cottage was set in a small village (pub was 30 seconds away!) The cottage itself was well kitted out with all you could possible need, if you were eating in, the kitchen had everything you would find at home. There were a few starter, such as tea bags, coffee etc. and Dawn had kindly left a pint of milk. The interior was tastefully done and the furnishings were tasteful and well thought out. Lots of walk from the cottage itself and withing easy driving distance of places like Bolton Abbey Pateley Bridge, Grassingham, Ilkley, and Harrogate only 9 miles away. All in all a great weekend retreat, with great hosts. wished I had booked for longer.

Further Details:

The local town of Otley is a traditional market town with supermarkets and local shops - 5 miles. Ilkley is 6 miles away and has lovely restaurants and the famous 'moor'. Harrogate is much larger and is 8 miles away. This has many restaurants, good shopping and lots of places of interest.

Leeds is best visited by train from Ilkley or a 40 minute drive by car. A vibrant and busy city with great shops and places to eat. Pateley bridge will take you 25 minutes by car and is well worth a visit. It is in the heart of Nidderdale.

York is less than an hours drive and an excellent park and ride service saves you the hassle of parking. Ripon and it's cathedral are a must and will take you 40 minutes to drive to. Skipton 'The gateway to the Dales' is a wonderful market town with it's own castle.
