About Dawn Meeks
My little 'cottage' industry started in 2002 when myself and my husband decided to restore a very run down but beautiful Yorkshire stone barn on our property. The Old Dairy was completed and has been such a success that in 2013 we opened our new cottage 'The Courtyard. Still part of our barn conversion and adjacent to The Old Dairy the cottages are perfect for 2 couples who like to holiday together but prefer their own 'space'. Our ethos in the new cottage was to create a beautiful space in the former school mistresses house. 'Affordable Luxury' was our focus and we are delighted with the outcome. I offer a unique catering service whereby I can cook and serve a freshly cooked evening meal to you in one of the cottages. Our website has full details of the current seasonal menu. www.timblecottages.co.uk
Dawn Meeks purchased this Cottage in 1997
Why Dawn Meeks chose Otley
Although we have owned the property since 1997 The Old Dairy Cottage was only converted in 2002. Once a former outbuilding and dairy the restoration was needed to preserve the structure. The reason I have chosen to have a holiday cottage in this area is that it is just the perfect environment for relaxing, walking, cycling and to tour around and enjoy the wonderful things The Yorkshire Dales has to offer. Situated in a dedicated area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' the views from the cottage take a lot to beat. It's actually so good that I live next door! It's like being on holiday for me 365 days of the year. The success of The Old Dairy encouraged us to open 'The Courtyard' in March 2013. We just couldn't supply the demand for luxury accommodation and regularly had to turn enquiries away. 3 months of hard work converting another part of our property produced The Courtyard Cottage but was well worth the effort. We are delighted with the outcome!
What makes this Cottage unique
Perfectly situated for touring around Yorkshire and no more than a few miles from most of the major places of interest. Harrogate, Skipton, Ilkley, Ripon, York, Grassington, Masham etc. etc. the list is endless. The village of Timble has a wonderful local pub/restaurant serving great food. With it being only a 2 minute walk from the cottage there is no need to drive out for a meal. Alternatively, I can serve an evening meal in the cottage. My catering business has the necessary permits to allow me to offer this service. All freshly cooked using local ingredients this is a facility quite unique to holiday cottages.

Our second consecutive visit. Lovely, peaceful and relaxing
This was our second visit since coming here last year and couldn’t wait to come. Amazing views, beautiful cottage set in peaceful settings. Can’t wait to go back there next year. Thank you again Dawn for an amazing break.
Dear Kelly and Mustaque,
Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay in The Old Dairy. We were just as excited to have you back! Your comments were lovely- delighted you had a great time.
Cottage was beautiful and had everything you could need garden and view stunning set in lovely vill.
Me and my daughter had a wonderful stay in this cottage, it was just what we wanted lovely and relaxing with some beautiful walks close by.
Beautiful, well appointed cottage in a lovely location.
We only booked for two nights, but wished we could have stayed longer.
Our second stay at the old dairy cottage. The setting is very beautiful and away from the crowds but still located within easy reach of all the attractions.
The cottage is very well equipped plus lots of extra luxuries and personal touches. If the weather is bad staying in would not be a hardship. We would definitely recommend this cottage but would love to keep it to ourselves.
Lovely cottage in a beautiful area
Arrived at cottage and found Dawn waiting for us. She was so welcoming and helpful and cheerfully showed us how everything worked (despite us arriving quite late). The location is fantastic; a very short walk to the local pub where we had dinner one evening. Lots of nearby interesting places to visit and all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Many thanks Dawn
Thank you for your lovely review Steve. It was a pleasure to host for you both and I very much hope to see you again sometime.
