Holiday Home nr Grange Moor, Wakefield, Nr. Huddersfield, Yorkshire - Peaceful Location, With Extensive Network Of Public Footpaths & Bridleways

Situated in a small hamlet, the cottage is south-facing with views of the local countryside, while only a mile from the nearest village (with village shop and post office). With immediate access to local walking routes including the Kirklees Way, the cottage is also close to other places of interest such as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the new Hepworth Museum Wakefield, the National Coal Mining Museum, Nostell Priory and Wentworth Castle Gardens. Slightly further afield are The National Rail Museum at York, The Salt Mills near Bradford, Harewood House, Harrogate, the Bronte’s home at Haworth, Holmfirth. There are a number of village and farm shops, pubs and restaurants available within a 5 mile radius. Nearby towns of Horbury, Huddersfield and Wakefield provide more extensive shopping facilities. The cities of Leeds and Manchester are also easily accessible by train and car.

About Fiona Byrd

We moved from London to Yorkshire in 2006 and bought the property in 2008. It ticked all the boxes: accessibility, space and peaceful surroundings and is the perfect antidote to our busy working lives. We live in the adjacent Dower House with our two labradors.

What makes this cottage unique

The property is particularly well situated to visit the new Hepworth Wakefield museum which recently opened in 2011 to much critical acclaim, as well as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It is an excellent base from which there are lots of walks and cycle routes nearby, as well as places of interest/ activities to enjoy locally and further afield.

Notes on accommodation: The accommodation is split over two floors with the bedrooms on the lower floor and the living accommodation on the entry (ground floor) level. Well-behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement - maximum of two dogs allowed. A travel cot is also available by prior arrangement. There is also a selection of DVDs available. Outside: Private patio area accessible from main bedroom, or from sitting room. Extensive gardens are shared with the adjacent Dower House although not all areas are available for use. Some outside areas e.g steep garden steps are not suitable for very small children. Utility Room: Immediately adjacent to the kitchen, and includes: fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: High quality bedding, linen and towels included. Cottage cleaned after departure. Other: Separate study, with free Wifi internet access.

Lovely peaceful location

This was our second stay at the cottage and we had a nice relaxing stay here. The cottage is wonderful and has everything you could need and the location is quiet and peaceful with nice walks in the surrounding area. I'm sure we will be back again next year!

A cut above

We (family of 4 plus 2 dogs) had the fortune to stay at this cottage for 9 weeks whilst we waited for a house sale to complete.

Incredible cottage, wonderful owners and a fantastic rural location. This cottage is not your typical holiday cottage, it is a real home superbly fitted out with exquisite decor. The quality of the towels, bedding, and adds on such as toiletries and welcome pack was fantastic. Super garden and grounds - great for the dogs with some great circular walks.

Whilst we are local and did not use the cottage for a holiday, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the area - a fantastic base, peace and quiet with close proximity to village and main towns.

You will not be disappointed if you book a break at GrangeMoor cottage.

Lovely cottage retreat

Me and a friend satyed here as a base for exploring Yorkshire for a couple of days. We chose the cottage because of how close it is to the Sculpture Park (we had to be there at 5:30am one morning to watch the sunrise!).

We spent 3 nights here and found the cottage to be exceptional; very well fitted with modern applianes, all looked new, with a relaxing living room with wood burning stove, and a beautiful view over fields, horses and forest. The owner was very accomodating and easy to get in contact with - we couldn't have asked for a more comfortable and ideal place to stay!

Some people might find this cottage to be a little "out of the way", but this that is what we wanted!
