Also in the nearby area are Beynac, Domme and Les Eyzies. The property offers a large shared pool which is heated and can be covered and has a terrace overlooking the village (open from the 1st april). Each house offers all mod cons, such as tvs, dvd players, washing machines, dishwashers etc and has its own private eating area outside with a barbecue. Clematites and Chantegrel have benefited from a brand new central heating system installed in 2015 and Clematites has a newly refurbished shower room. Argeline has a new kitchen for 2016 with new units, sink, full sized fridge/freezer and cooker with electric oven. Salamandre is newly renovated this year with a brand new fitted kitchen and shower room.
There is a play area with table tennis, swing, boules etc. Cots, high chairs and baby baths are available. 2 original stone shepards huts or bories can also be found within the 5 acre grounds. The property is ideal for individual families or groups as each house has it's own private terrace and or garden which is not overlooked. Clematites has a large sitting/dining room which can seat 25 people if a large group wishes to eat together. It is also perfect for activities such as yoga. Each house can sleep up to 4 (Salamandre), 5 (Argeline) or 6 people and have 2 or 3 bedrooms, giving a total of 11 bedrooms in all with 8 double beds, 9 single beds and one sofa bed. The village is a five minute walk away and has a park with tennis and croquet. Each Thursday evening there is a market where you can buy local produce and eat in the square during July and August. There is loads to do in the area such as visit chateaux, gardens, caves and prehistoric sites. The area is also perfect for horse riding which I can organise, biking, walking, canoeing, fishing.....and don't forget the fabulous local cuisine and wine!

About Rachel Dods
We are a British couple who have lived and run the business here for 12 years. We have two boys aged 13 and 15 who attend school locally.. Neal also has a project managing business in the building trade. I teach English in schools and to adults and look after a large number of horses which are kept nearby. It maybe possible to organise riding for those who are interested and know how to ride while you are staying here.
Rachel Dods purchased this House in 2003
Why Rachel Dods chose Auriac-du-Périgord
We love the area, the food, architecture and the landscape. There is so much space here and the quality of life is amazing. Having horses enables us to really explore the beautiful countryside. We are very close to the popular towns of Sarlat, Beynac etc but it really does feel peaceful and calm here.
What makes this House unique
The property offers a chance to get away from it all as a couple, family or group. We are in a picturesque village within easy reach of Montignac, Sarlat and Beynac. I can offer riding on our beautiful and easy to handle Irish cobs.

A little piece of heaven!!!
We stayed in "clematis" with our labrador Honey for 3 weeks in September and I did not want to return home! The gites are just outside the small village of Auriac which is beautiful, and only 5 mins drive from Montignac which has a big supermarket and lots of lovely restaurants and shops. The gites and their surroundings are beautiful, with lovely little walks and a fabulous pool which you can sit and relax at. Our gite was perfect, it has a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need, a lovely shower room, 2 big bedrooms and a huge sitting/dining room. Outside you have a really sunny patio to enjoy. There are so many beautiful places to visit within a 30-40 min drive. I'll highly recommend Sarlat which has a fab market on saturday and Terrason which is a lovely town on the river Vezere. There are beautiful chateaus and gardens to visit and bring a picnic and dogs are welcome everywhere. We had a truly wonderful holiday at Chantegrel and our hosts Neal and Rachel could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The peace and quiet were something special and you can completely escape from reality, this beautiful place is a truly a little piece of heaven.
Beautiful peaceful setting and lovely hosts
A really lovely place tucked away so we were able to enjoy a quiet holiday. We have 2 young children who loved the swimming pool which is always open and lovely and warm! The hosts couldn't have been better, really friendly and easy to get hold of. The cottage itself was authentic and had everything we needed. Great base for exploring the other towns & villages nearby.
Chanterelle. Pam and Mike Coakley stayed there with two friends and their labrador dog, Poppy.
Wow, wow, and wow again. Fabulous location, Chanterelle the house enchanting, clean and homely.Swimming pool excellent and the owners friendly and helpful. Would recommend this special place to anyone.
Gorgeous substantial property with period features
We loved this house which offers an open plan sitting/dining room and large well equipped kitchen. The stone meant it stayed beautifully cool even on the hottest days and so sleeping here was very refreshing and relaxing. The grounds are stunningly with lots of shady trees and flowers. We loved the Thursday night market where everybody ate together and was very friendly. The kids had a wonderful time building tree houses in the woods, playing ping pong and of course swimming in the large, warm pool. The house is well located for exploring the local area and there is certainly plenty to see and do.
A week of total relaxation !
We stayed in Clematites cottage for 6 nights in June. Chantegrel is a unique property . If looking for a holiday away from it all in our opinion you won't find a better hideaway. Neil & Rachel are welcoming & charming hosts & are happy to help with any queries during your stay. We enjoyed exploring the area & recommend visiting Sarlat an& of course nearby Montignac. A dear little cottage & don't be surprised if you feel sad to leave & return to civilisation !! We will be returning next year & bringing more family members with us.

A beautiful property in a fantastic setting!
We had such a fantastic week at Clematites. The gite itself is stunning to look at and the open plan living space inside is brilliant, making the property feel huge despite only having 2 bedrooms. It's in an ideal location for exploring the stunning surrounding area, with plenty of things to entertain you for the week. The owners were hugely friendly, helping out with anything that we needed (including a bottle of wine on the first night as we'd turned up empty handed!) The pool area is fantastic too so there's always the option of relaxing on site if a day of rest is needed! Thank you Neal and Rachel for making our first holiday with our 6 month old so wonderfully stress free!
