Lovely property, pool amazing. Stephanie was so helpful when we arrived and we were left a great welcome pack with drinks and fruit. Great pizza restaurant just down the road
Lovely holiday- great pool and garden
We really enjoyed our stay
The villa was a good size for the 3 of us- very compact but fine. It was clean and comfortable inside with everything you need. The cleaner came half way through to change towels & bedding & we had a minor problem with a door which was sorted out quickly.
The garden and pool were brilliant & made the holiday special. We spent most of the holiday chilling in the sun - so relaxing.
There are a handful of restaurants within 15 minutes walk - mostly seafood. The Gaingos pizzeria at the end of the road was good for takeaway pizza. We usually drove a bit further or taxi. I recommend la Fornace for pizza & Dafne within 5/10 minutes drive but we preferred to go to Ortigia or Siracusa.
A water taxi to Ortigia was a good way to beat the traffic
Special mention to Stephanie the property manager who was really helpful - she sorted taxis, booked and recommended restaurants as well as giving loads of info about the island.
It is essential to have a car as it is 15 minutes to drive to the supermarket & no local shops close by but we were happy to use the car for this & trips to Ragusa, Modeca, Noto, Taormina
Our only negative was next doors dogs being left out at night & did bark a bit - quite selfish really. Stephanie did say she would have spoken to the neighbours so if this happens to future guests then please do this.
Overall a fantastic holiday though & fairly priced
we are quite well travelled and have stayed in many villas in Europe but this was my least favourite.
On arrival we were given many rules, one being that we should keep the noise down between 1pm and 5pm each day so that we do not disturb the neighbours dogs (this is not easy or in my opinion fair when you have a 5 and 8 year old who want to have fun in the pool on their holiday) , the same dogs barked a lot though the night waking us up which i found very hypocritical.
The property was cleaned once during our 2 week stay which is not great so expect to wash towels and tea towels etc yourself. The property was then inspected before we were returned our security deposit which we did get back as we left it spotless but it was an uncomfortable experience and we were told to take the 2 empty water bottles from the bin with us.
My husband accidentally left his driving licence In a water park and they gladly returned it to Stephie for us but for her to send it to us in the uk she quoted €29 for postage and €40 for her trouble as it was not part of the rental agreement (69 in total!) .... it is cheaper to just order a new one so we didn’t bother with this service. Wouldn’t you think it would be courteous to just send it, I expected to pay the postage but €40 for her trouble is just taking advantage.
The oven is dodgy as I got some quite severe electric shocks. I informed Stephanie half way through the stay but nothing was done so be careful.
Location is ok, a few nice restaurants within walking distance, we liked l’asteria blu, la fornance and every evening there’s a bar- restaurant just before you get to l’Asteria blue (as if you are going to the beach) and they have the best view for evening drinks watching the sunset.
You absolutely need a car staying here.
The villa itself is small with no real space to food prep etc but for a family of 4 was ok and the outside area was a great size and the salt water pool was great too. The gardener is lovely ...... such a cheerful friendly guy!!
It has potential to be nice but I think under more professional and compassionate management. After previous villa experiences this was a real shock to us and I absolutely wouldn’t return or recommend to anybody else.
Fortunately it is really rare that we welcome guests like you. First of all it is clearly mentioned on our advert that a weekly cleaning and weekly change of linens and towels is included in the rental price. We never mentioned a cleaning every 2 or 3 days as we propose a self catering villa not a bed and breakfast or hotel. Indeed no one so far had ever complained about this point and the villa had been rented for 7 years now. The house is equipped of a washing machine and things to clean if our guests wish to clean during their stay. Before booking our guests can read our house rules which are very basic: upon check-out we kindly ask our guests to empty the fridge wash their dishes and throw away their rubbish (the public containers are on the main road 2 mn' drive). Upon arrival you've been welcomed with a generous welcome basket made of fruits mineral water prosecco ando beers as we always do for our guests. During your stay the gardener came several times to clean the pool take care of the garden etc. The issue regarding the oven could not be fixed immediately that is why the gardener apologised for the trouble and offered you another bottle of prosecco which of course you do not mention in your comment. During your stay we have always been available giving you tips for restaurants and pizzeria when you asked for such information. When I came for your check-out I asked you if you were happy with this holiday and you said yes without adding anything! You never mentioned the neighbours' dog barking!
Now I understand that you decided to post a naughty and unfair comment only because we asked you to pay for the extra service to send your driving license back to England. Our future guests need to know that these guests had already left the house. A few hours after they had left they contacted us asking our help because they had forgotten their driving licence at a Water park outside Siracusa. We kindly accepted to help them even if it had nothing to do with their stay at our house. We asked euros 40 for this extra service as we had to go to the UPS office wait for 20 mn" for our turn arrange the payment etc. We think this is fair.
Delightful secluded villa , close to the sea
A small but well appointed villa with large garden and pool, close to sea edge restaurants and a short drive from historic Syracuse.
Great Place to Relax
This is a small villa but the garden is immense and the pool is lovely. The kitchen is well equipped and there is also a utility room where there is extra storage space. Outside the patio is shaded so ideal for eating and relaxing. Stephanie, who manages the property is very helpful and always available to deal with any issue. Her restaurant recommendations were excellent. The owner of the villa is also very nice and the small plumbing issue we had was dealt with within a few hours. We had a wonderful holiday and look forward to our return.
300 metres from the villa you can enjoy a small gorgeous sandy beach!
Closest airport: Catania Fontanarossa (55 mn' driving distance). Siracusa city: 6 km. Noto: 30 km.
